I'v never actually played a game of poker in my life, people have tried to explain it to me though. What would be the best way to get into it and start learning?

Well easiest way for me was just playing with class mates who knew how it went, and then having them teach me :P

Internet way? Uhh.. I guess could google up some theory, or even go as far as buying coaching from some insane guys.. (lol)

Playing on FB isn't a bad way to get the basics down, although the most popular poker app on FB (Zynga) does have some wonky rules.

If you're interested in playing for money in the future don't invest too much time on fb, people play a lot differently with virtual money than they do with their actual money.

Play with friends (in person) who are decent/good at poker so you don't feel like an idiot when you do stupid things.

I still remember all the way back in Freshman year of high school where me and my friend had one of those hand listing things from a card deck. I had no idea what a blind was, who acted next, what hands there were. I had never played any card (poker) games in my life.

I still play with the same group of friends, and am now the most experienced of the bunch. I've played several hundred thousand more hands online than any of them and made a lot of money playing.

Just depends how much you want to put into learning/getting better/etc...

Start playing home games with friends (if possible), if that isn't, than play online for play chips probably. Read some decent threads.

Twoplustwo.com is probably the leading poker arena junkies type site.

If you have about 30-50 quid BR. Starton the 2-4 dollar sngs with 180players in them.
Get to top 30 and you double your money you can basically afk the first 50 or so then just play aa,ak and other top hands veryrare till the 30.
Its realy easy money as alot of people who play that sort of bracket are realy realy bad.

There is a pretty decent quiz on pokerstrategy.com that covers most of the beginners questions and if you complete it you get a free 50$ starting bonus.
The quiz is not very hard, plus you can browse the site for the right answers and just look them up for yourself.

Regarding on what to play, I strongly suggest start with NLHE and do some micro buy-in sng's, don't go too high with the stakes and watch out for your bankroll and hope you don't develop a gambling problem. :)
