Afternoon all ^^
Aight so i just DLd fraps and when i record it completely fucks over my fps. the quality is shit when i put it to half sized.

my pc stats are the followings:
i5 2500k
6870 graphics card
some random ass motherboard
4 gig ram

i run the game on 60 fps on highest, slightly below 60 when in orgrimmar cos my server is populated to fuck. anyway there are ppl with worse pcs than me, and they fraps without any problem.

-cheers

Vertical Sync, turn it off. If you got 2 hard discs on your computer place wow in one of them and the location for where your fraps files to be dropped on the other one.

+ rep if helped!

Make sure the HDD you fraps to is fast (atleast 7200 rpm)- when I frapsed to my 5400 rpm hdd i had afew laggspikes every now and then- and the fps was idling between 40-60, but when I bought another ssd, reinstalled windows and started frapsing to my old one- I'm frapsing at 60 fps flat with no laggspikes at all.

just quit if your tired of the game? and stop posting these shit comments

Anyways, as someone above me said, you'd want to have atleast 7200rpm on the HDD you're frapsing to. It's not your PC's fault that you're lagging, it's all about the speed of your HDD, and how fast it can read&write.
Ofcourse the best thing you could do is to get an SSD harddrive, altough they're quite expensive, but 7200rpm should work, 5400rpm however, does not.

vsync is good

if your monitor is only 60hz getting above 60 fps is wasted effort on your gpu

no, it strains the PC, not every pc is capable of keeping the FPS on-par with the frequency all the time, and not every program is happy with it (example; fraps)

No, please stop spreading this nonsense.

Human eye can only see something like 30fps (movie) but while PLAYING a game you can see / feel the difference between 60 and 200 fps.

ONTOPIC: Im quite sure that with that computer setup you are using 7200rpm HDD. Your pc should be more then enough to run fraps smoothly, if it for some reason is not, try borrowing second hard drive from your friend, preferably SSD drive. (not an external drive tho!)

definitly. the only time vsync looks remotively good is when you're running 120hz/vsync/120fps, and even that's clunky as fuck.

playing CS with vsync on/60 FPS is so fucking aids it's unreal, the game is slower, you even empty mags slower.

Well, that's because CS is such a badly optimized game... think about that before you compare it with a 20th century game.

It'll say on the outside of the HDD.  Alternatively

Run (Windows key + R) -> msinfo32 -> Components -> Storage -> Disks -> Model (copy the model number, paste it into Google, find the RPM from there).

Probably more ways than that to figure it out.

Also I strongly recommend a 2nd HDD for recording.  Just drop the $30-$50 on a drive and stick it in, not a huge deal.
