yeah enjoy your random proc, i am going to keep with choosing when to burst with my trinkets, like a precision sniper instead of a random shot in the dark.

You'd have to be insane not to use Cunning as any comp. An on-use trinket has nothing on 20-40k aoe shadow bolts, sorry. Especially if you're human.

Just got mine yesterday as well, LFR version but whatever, its still insane. The passive procs that don't care at all about LOS make keeping pressure on a turtle-ing team INSANE. You'd be crazy not to use this trinket for any comp. In just a few 3's games, stopped important drink opportunities, killed a hiding 15% hunter with a 30k crit, proc'd during smoke bomb playing rps (lol).

This shit cray.

Question for you gentlemen..

The tooltip for the trinket says:

LFR (384) - 7495 to 11242 damage to all enemies within 10 yards of your current target.
Normal (397) - 8460 to 12690 damage to all enemies within 10 yards of your current target.
Heroic (410) - 9549 to 14324 damage to all enemies within 10 yards of your current target.

But it scales with up with spell power. Equipped in game, my LFR says it does around 24-25k to each target I think. How do the scaling factors differ between LFR, Normal, and Heroic.

For example, the difference between the average base dmg between LFR and Heroic is around 3k. When scaled with Season 11 gear, how big does this difference become?

Thanks fellas.

So assuming 40% dmg reduction from resilience

LFR - 25k * .6 = 15k hits
Heroic - 34k * .6 = 20.4k hits

Looking at around a 5.4k hit difference and probably close to 10k difference for crits. Pretty substantial considering its AoE dmg, but also to be expected considering its LFR vs. Heroic.

A little better than your shadow set by like 3 sp and like .01% crit

It has no black smithing though

I wish I could consider heroic dw weapons :/

[edit]

Got rathrak last week on my priest, amazing in PvE but doesn't seem that good in PvP. The LFR version gives me a 9k dot in PVE fully buffed, it ticks for around 1500 and crits for 3k. Sometimes it takes forever to proc because it doesn't activate on dot ticks, only on spell applications.

Even if the heroic version does double the damage from the LFR version, it will still tick for very low amounts in PvP... the legendary not only does more damage, but it's MUCH more bursty, since it doubles even your dot ticks and none of your spells will be doing 1.5k. So if you can choose between legendary and this thing, I'd recommend the legendary. Not to mention it's easier to get a legendary...

Posted about this on the warlock forums "For a warlock I would go with Rathak HC, still can't decide on what to use as spriest though - legendary copying SW:D/Mindblast/mindspike can be pretty game breaking though.

The pros and cons if anyone is wondering are

Rathak - 550sp/~1000mana/1000hp/122cr/204res/15sec ICD dot that spreads 8 yards for 2k a tick for 10secs every 2seconds/Faster totem killing

Legendary - 1.9% haste/1% mastery/314hit/5-6% chance to copy any of your damage spells "

As much as I don't want to give up the legendary the passive stat gain from the heroic version of the dagger seems too good to pass up and the DoT is just a bonus really.
