With 4.2, Unholy will once again be the primary PvP spec for DKs. This thread's purpose is to discuss any 4.2 related changes regarding unholy from glyph changes to talent and skill changes and whatever else may be encompassed in 4.2's coming.

discuss / ask questions / etc. I will outline a brief summary of the changes and proposed adaptions in this post later on for a quick summation to those who want to see what 4.2 will bring to unholy dks

Scourge strike was actually hitting for just as much on the training dummy as NS was with RoR/glyph of SS when I tested it earlier

but will provide instant dmg.. this makes scourge a valid thing to use to finish someone or use wen a healer is in a long cc chain.

much like scourge was used in 4.0.6 but this time, better :D

I never really understood the reason to using instant damage to finish someone off, i mean i guess if you get peeled for 10 seconds would be the only reason

Wouldnt it just be better to just stack necrotic strike so when they get out of the CC you cant be picked up

Its almost like saying K, got that priest in a throwdown and i have strang up (effectively a long CC chain), going to use SS instead of necrotic for the instant damage, but no one does that

if a healer is cc'd with and still has ns available and you can get a kill with instant damage then it's worth it

thinking that actually with bladed armor and 15% more strg youll have some 7k absorb constantly on 4k+ resiled ppl.

but also scourge strike would deal some 2.5kmelee+2.5shadow. so its gunna need to test on plate+shields to see if its worth.

+ just asking
in unholy, you using Festering strike rare or always to switch blood runes to death?

festering always.

i dont think SS will be viable, if they dont add something really useful to RoR in pvp it wont be worth taking over bladed armor

Is it the general consensus that most dks will be switching back to unholy?

Personally I'd rather that since I much preferred the playstyle, and after not playing and having to switch to frost the past season, it's not like trying to teach an old dog new tricks.

This thread will be useful in helping update the DK Basics.

What you're forgetting is that SS scales with weapon damage, whereas NS does not (meaning SS might actually outdo NS in certain situations, depending on how big of a weapon damage increase the new weapons bring). With that said, I can definitely see RoR being, at the very least, a competitive alternative for BA.
Look in the mirror and ask yourself: does it worth?

And yes, with bladed armor will be nice NS stack,
but i think that RoR might give us some 8k norma SS dmg.

seems that we'll have to wait for patch to see whats better.

My pet has been working just fine recently. All they really changed was making it so you cant have a leap + gnaw macro. What i did was separate them so i have a leap 1 2 3 and gnaw 1 2 3 macro on separate keybinds

The one thing that I've noticed with ghouls that still seems to be bugged is the fact that the pet function 'move to' has a really slow reaction speed. It could potentially be game breaking when i need to move my pet to a location away from the target we're on to leap the next cast and it delays too long so I miss it.
