I'd like to use this thread to showcase hip hop artists that you guys listen to. We've had a few hip hop threads, but no real official thread. Eventually, we can divide it into sub-genres similar to the Metal Thread. As much as I like browsing through the "What are you listening to thread", it's sometimes nice to just listen to the genre you're in the mood for. This thread is not restricted to certain hip hop artists, so do not worry if the artist is mainstream or underground. While I'd like to link several songs from some artists, I'll stick to one for each artist for now. Underground material from r/hiphopheads

Story telling songs: For fans of Atmosphere / Brother Ali (Alternative hip hop): Chill Upbeat Jazzy Hip Hop MISC

Yeah, sadly our OP was an idiot, who no longer visits these forums - boy that didn't work out well.
Such ranks of worship millions strong
Yet the chalice was poisoned
With mere servants standing strong
Witnessing the death of God

This is a hip hop thread, not hip pop.

While I agree the 2 types shouldn't be grouped, I'm not going to be picky about what's linked in this thread.

Here comes the hate now. In all of these Hip Hop threads in OT, there is just love for old school hip hop.
Hip Hop has manifested into more than just a music genre. Its a culture.

This culture is more than just rap music. Some won't certainly agree with this and argue that rap has become shit over the discourse of time that being said. Soulja Boy is a good example of this, but we have lyrical talent emerging in our modern days who don't say "insert word" 60 times for the chorus

I think contrasting between all forms of hip hop in this thread will make it better than restrictive rules on what constitutes 'hip hop'

These sub hip-hop groups are illegitimate and ignorant

Thumbs up for your thread bro!

I'm encouraging users to link any kind of hip hop they want to. I don't feel sub-genres are ignorant, just there for reference and classification.

Guys, please don't derail the thread :(

Let's all agree to delete these recent posts

I didn't want to derail. Hip Hop culture is awesome. If you want none of this 'new stuff' then say. OP will get rid of my contributions :)

I've always had some Binary Star/One Be Lo in my library, but have just been listening to more of it since Phaurun's link and am very glad he did link it. Everything I've heard so far has been unreal.

Preference changes when people are put under the limelight.
I'll agree that Lil Wayne has put out some obscure stuff but I reckon his credibility as a hip hop artist furthers the movement of the culture

Nicki Minaj has put female hip hop on a new level but yo thats just my opinion and I just have a bias view of drake because hes one of my favourite artists
