WoW Lost 600k Subscribers, down to 11.4M
Activision Blizzard's earning call was today and we learned, among other things, that the WoW playerbase is down to 11.4M players. That's 5% less than before the expansion and it seems that players went through the Cataclysm content faster than expected.

it really says enough about the state of the game

Do you honestly think those 600K subscribers are all the pvpers?

The PvE content is actually really good compared to wrath (naxx, os and toc for example)

The reasson why they've lost 600K subscriber since late 2010 is because Cataclysm was SUPER-hyped and people who had previously quit resubsribed to give cata a chanse, but soon to realize that they actually still couldnt be arsed to play.

they aren't even mentioning that it has anything to do with pvp, if someone cancels their account it HAS to be because they ran out of content. They aren't even mentioning the fact that the game has a pvp side to it as well.

The big problem is Blizzard is slow as hell with bringing out new content. There is also absolutely nothing to do outside of raids, heroics, arenas and rated battlegrounds. This game isn't a MMORPG anymore.

Wow is losing subscribers and pvp is terrible.

Wow is losing subscribers because pvp is terrible.

Obviously Blizzard are the ones to care. That's exactly my point - who cares? Other than Blizzard themselves, obviously.

No idea why any1 here would care :P If you think it shows it's PvP related, I think that's just dumb :/ the amount of people quitting for pvp specific reasons will be minimal. Also, we don't need this to show us PvP is imbalanced.

I subscribe to pay for game time, just so I can unsubscribe the day after and complain about the state of PvP. Im pretty sure all paladin-related buffs came from my unsubscribing and crying.

if im not mistaken the leap between new content for pvers is the longest its been if u dont count last instance in an expansion -> first instance in a new expansion. With the summer comming up this doesnt surprise me at all, PvErs have better things to do than to farm the same shit over and over again months after months. I really doubt even 20% of the people who unsubscribed are pvpers.

I honestly think the game is doing okay, it's just people are starting to see the hampster wheel that is new content imo.

There have always been, and always will be horrible imbalances with pvp.
