So yeah, I completely stopped playing World of Warcraft a long time ago for obvious reasons, started playing LoL but getting pretty bored of it when I can't play with rl friends. I've never been "pro" at any strategy game, though Warcraft III looked very appealing to me I've never tried it online mode out, neither did I play Starcraft. My question now is: Is the Starcraft II community really that pro and elitist? Is it possible for someone who hasn't got a clue to get into the game and actually have some kind of success? How long will it take until I understood the game to it's fullest potential? What other skills are required for playing Starcraft II? And probably the most important question: Is anyone willing to get me into/ show me the game?

I used to play AoE so when i purchased SC2 i kind of had an idea of what to do i played a bit of campaign to get used to the style. Then practised with freinds and looked on forums for people to play against and now in Gold League as Terran

oo depends on how serious you want to take the game. XD it's a completley different style www.askfunkmunk.com
edit: Used to be top 200 NA consistently beat top 50 players, quit game but can easily go back.

For the most part the campaign is quite easy to follow and a lot of fun, but for competitive gaming sc2 brings more angles and complex scenarios than any other game I've played. It can be somewhat difficult to get into.

starcraft 2 isn't hard to get into at all, theres a wealth of information out there for you to learn from and the league separation will keep you matched against people within your general skill level ( some will be much better or much worse by merit of having experience with the game but they'll still be low level players ).

i'd never played an RTS ( the closest I'd ever been was hon / warcraft 3 custom mods ) before sc2 came out and I started playing at release and I was na top 200 before ladder reset. im not really good by any means but the point is still there.

Someone like you probably won't come out of silver. If you are looking just to have fun, I'm sure Casual difficulty campaign will challenge you thoroughly. The campaign is great and loads of fun, and original storyline.

It'll be faster if you get carried by someone amazing? Probably, yeah.

no, if someone points out why you're awful since its really not a hard game to master at all

in sc2 however you can have all the guides you could ever ask for and still not reach the highest level unless you put A LOT of time in

I'm not talking about being the best player ever (and neither is the OP), I'm talking about getting the top 10%. You could argue that's 'easy' in arena (and of course a multiglad is going to) but I still think sc2 is the easier of the two. Though I did play rogue with 250 ping most of the time so maybe my view is skewed.

All I know is I didn't know anything about sc2, didn't play beta, only dabbled in brood war at lans with friends, and I found it very easy to shoot up the ranks (think I went 2-3 and placed in bronze to start).

Top 10% is like rival. WoW is incredibly easy compared to sc2

3.2 Warriors are worst class in the game for 3v3.
