He's already had problems with bullies and getting in trouble from kids blaming him and not the real mischief maker. The largest reason for this being is that he doesn't know how to act around children his age yet. He thinks when he's goofing around and throwing things at people, or throwing peoples basketballs into the street is just all fun in games and he doesn't realize that those kind of things make people angry. When those things happen he gets over emotional and over reacts, which makes the situation worse. Those kinds of things make him an easier target for bullies. I help him get a lot of exercise by going outside with him (mainly so other kids won't pick on him) and doing things that he enjoys but can also help him burn off steam. He also doesn't have a concept that some people are bad and some are good. So it opens doors to him getting involved with children who are mean to him, or get him in trouble and he just doesn't understand why. But I know that those types of social skills will come with age. Children now-a-days have changed a lot from when I was his age. I remember being a lot more independent by his age, and I had some similar problems that he's having now.Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's a social outcast. He actually has tons of great friends, and I love his friends for being so great with him and being able to tolerate some of the things he does, because he can play very aggressively without realizing it. He just doesn't know how to act around people yet and I know part of that is due to his age. He's very talkative too, which is great. He knows how to talk to people, it's just the way he interacts with them when it's time for fun. He's a good kid, he's just unmotivated when it comes to school. It's just hard to watch him go from being an A-B student in his old school to being a boarder-line-passing student in this school. I think a lot of it has to do with him moving around the country constantly. He's never stayed in a state for more than one school year up until he moved to where we are now, so the teachers are always changing, the friends are always changing and I can imagine that it's extremely difficult for him to cope with that as a child with ADHD. I have to keep telling him that the school work gets harder, so if he doesn't do well now, he's going to continually worse until he starts giving a crap. Sometimes I feel that saying that is in vain though because he has no concept of what the future holds.

Im glad to hear that, but i will tell you one thing.. As soon as popularity kicks in, those ''great friends'' might become the bullies. Bullying people from age 11-14 is really, really disgusting, and ALOT of disgusting things will be said to him, so that is probably where you want to watch out the most. Im sorry to give you even more worrys, but trust me, if you're not aware of all of that, his life will be hell.

That is an unfortunate side effect of having all that extra energy. They have so much energy and they don't know what to do with it so it often causes awkward dealings in social situations.

I'd say it's all in your diet, just stop drinking diet Coke and all that crap!

Dr. Zoltan Rona, past president of the Canadian Holistic Medical Association

"Since amino acids are the precursors to the neurotransmitters, low levels can lead to neurotransmitter deficiency. Higher than accepted levels may lead to neurotransmitter excess. One example of amino acid excess causing hyperactive behaviour occurs with the artificial sweetener, aspartame. Some children are highly sensitive to aspartame and scrupulous attention should be aimed at keeping this potential neurotoxin out of the child's diet. In children who consume large amounts of aspartame in soft drinks or other processed foods, amino acids can be significantly abnormal."

That guy is just posting ridiculous conspiracy theories to basically any topic, you should just ignore him. Although I welcome the effort he has for searching all these made up statistics and coming up with an even more ridiculous theory every time

I have adhd and work 60 hours a week, am learning how to program, and am in my 3rd year of college. Having ADHD does not mean lazy and vice versa. If you go to a doctor and say you have all the symptoms of ADHD they will give you a scripts because they get money from drug companies. In my case, I was tested without them telling me about it.

Also, a Video Game Addict or any type of Addict will look exactly like a person with ADHD and are mixed up quite frequently. One goes away with treatment, the other doesn't. The disorder exists, but is extremely over diagnosed.

Do you even know what a conspiracy theory is? If yes, explain how my argument "Aspartame causes ADHD" fits into that scheme.

I know a few people with ADHD/ADD from high school and they weren't bullied any more than any other nerd. It's not like these kids are limping around screaming "HURRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" in the hallways...most of them are...normal?

If you go to a doctor and say you have all the symptoms of ADHD they will give you a scripts because they get money from drug companies.

In my opinion ADHD is a invented syndrom by the drug industry. In Australia just in the period of 1991 to 1998 the prescription rate of Dextroamphetamine rised by 2.400% and of Ritalin by 620%. Something must be really wrong here. The diagnosis procedures are far from having any scientific methods, lacking any objective guidelines and are criticized by many doctors and psychologists. Thus anyone can be diagnosed with ADHD and set onto these dangerous drugs.

Here are some critics

Talking back to Ritalin: what doctors aren't telling you about stimulants
Diane McGuinness - Professor of psychology
http://books.google.... defect&f=false

The concept that "ADHD" is a biological or neurobiological disorder is entirely fabricated. Thousands of studies have failed to demostrate a physical defect in these children who have been variously diagnosed over the years with Organic Drivenness, Restless Syndrome, Brain Injured Child, Minimal Brain Damage, Minimal Brain Disorder, Hyperkinetic Impulsice Disorder, and finally Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder
