The horde one is going to be awesome and the ally one is going to be like a three-legged war camel or something.
As dumb as this sounds, I think a lot of it depends on how badass the mount is. If it's a really sick mount I think a lot of people will grind ratings for the last month or two of the season after the mount is seen on 4.2 on the ptr. There're a LOT of people who could easily get to 3k+ if they had enough incentive to chain que. If the mounts retarded I don't think many people will care to, since the title itself won't mean a whole lot.

2900 is far too high, 2700 will be safe.

yeah 2900+ is safe because it's the top 100 right now. More importantly it's going to get harder to get equal quality people with low mmr's so more people are going to lose points on their way to 3k.
do you have any idea how many people have done rated bgs, pretty sure 1000 plus players are going to get it...

The only reason I keep doing them still is cause they're fun (I was always a premade bg'er in wotlk) and some kind of hope there's a #1 title for horde on my battlegroup.

Finally, I understand why pvp in this game is so bad.

Yeah, but as this is the first time this system is used I'd rather not miss it by a few points (and rbgs are also really fun if you queue with a good group).
Probably going to be pretty low tbh. You have to play a fucking LOT of games to get anywhere even remotely high, and all those games are long as fuck and slow Qs to boot. Personally I started doing rbgs very often (like maybe 30 games a week or so, which is a ton of time considering Qs and game length)about a month ago and I'm still not even 2500, having never lost a single point of rating on the way up and starting from like 800 rating or so too. The grind is fucking ridiculous and I seriously doubt a large number of people are going to end up in the upper 2000s, and I even more seriously doubt that anyone is going to be able to actually grind this shit in like a couple weeks' time if the mount turns out to look cool.
when a person doesn't enter arena until the gates open ( like it ends up in 2v3 ), the arena match isn't counted and is automatically a draw when the gates open ( without the annoying -16 for both teams ), thus no one gains or loses pts/MMR.
I would've loved this back in s5/s6 when my microwave would interfere with my router if someone started using it so I had a rule that nobody was allowed to use the microwave while I did arena.
