Frost

* Blood of the North (passive) now permanently converts both Blood Runes into Death Runes. There is no longer any proc interaction with Blood Strike required to activate Death Runes.
* Frost Strike now deals 130% of weapon damage, up from 110%.
* Howling Blast damage has been increased by 20%. To compensate, the area-of-effect splash now does 50% of the single-target damage, down from 60%. The net result of this change leaves the area-of-effect damage roughly the same as 4.0.6 numbers.

There are no unholy buffs, which makes sense, but this should all help frost a ton.

Frost strike change will probably put mastery over haste for frost, the spec seems very interesting now, especially with the resilience dr, which will allow a variation of pve gear for huge, huge obliterates.

With these buffs, it quite possibly could overtake unholy completely. Unholy has eaten nerf after nerf in dmg while frost just seems to keep getting better. Also, frost has the burst which unholy lacks. Sustained dmg just isn't that valuable right now.

it's very possible to even go into desecration with a frost spec. For playing with a mage/lock resilient infection may even be useful due to the holy pally cleanses going out (or even cleanses on your magic CoI root. You'll be getting so many HBs you won't know what to do with them.

Losing the movement speed in BP doesn't really matter either with Death's Advance, not that you're going anywhere anyway since if you're in blood presence you probably have feral and/or warrior and/or rogue showing you how skilled they are.

You DO have to. You dont see destruction warlocks in arena anymore. This could be the same.

The thread title is a bit sensationalist. I personally think unholy and frost will be about equal, and one will only be better than the other for certain comps:

Double healer: Unholy.
Unholyplay: Unholy.
Shadowcleave: Unholy.
DMx: Unholy.
TSG: Frost.
Ebola Cleave: Frost.
DHx: Both specs are pretty equal.

And in all the comps where frost is better, unholy will still be viable.

Pretty much the same thing it is now, really.

I'm pretty sure you can achieve the talent "Desecration" while being frost?

sure but a 7sec strangulate into 8seconds hungering cold every minute is just super good

€: ok by looking at bashels glyphs it seems you play without strangulate glyph for dark succor, but its still 5sec silence :D
