The only change that mages need is to put all of their roots on the same DR.

They don't need buffs.

You're confusing the quality of a player vs quality of the class.

When we saw the surge of 2600 rated feral druids with barely duelist achievement before this season, it was indicative of the class imbalance. When you see a mage with many r1 titles achieve high rating, that means that things are doing okay.

Believe it or not, but there are simply more 'skilled' frost mages than say feral druids, boomkins, hunters... etc. It's not like the skill level of the top rated players in every class/spec is the same and if Death Knight Hero X switched over to play mage he would be 3000 rated.

I'd even trade Ice Barrier for that 20% damage reduction atm, having it break before your GCD ends is kinda frustrating, it's just an extra nova for melee

The biggest piece of shit talent is Improved Freeze, I never will understand why they had to implend something into a PvP spec so that the PvP spec becomes PvE viable, but not as viable as other specs so PvErs don't even spec it, yet we have a ruined spec.
Removed all the finesse from the mage. And why the hell change shatter like that.. Delete Improved Freeze + Revert Shatter, reduce poly cast time by a little bit, give some mechanic like priest dispel protection, not as good as UA protection thus doesn't mage Mage OP, but still something.
And delete Ice Lance if you want, I don't care anymore, mage is shit as fuck to play, I smile & cry when I remember TBC + WoTLK mage playstyle, the reason why I played mage ever is gone thanks to Cataclysm, I just still have faith in Blizzard (lol), gah.

Are you going to back that up at all?  I'd like to see any bit of evidence for this.  Anecdotally, I've always felt that there was always a very small cadre of excellent Mage players with a large large number of absolute trash Mages at high ratings.

I just did a wsg with 6 mages on it. Needless to say i thought about suicide a lot.
Whole field was covered by RoF, novas, pet novas, CoC, breaking barriers and they just lance spam.
In fact every time i am thinking to open on the mage i am asking myself — do ii really want to blow all cooldowns just to see him sitting in iceblock waiting for reinforcements?

p.s. sorry for derailing the thread, just nvm this.

Agree. It almost felt like all they need to do is focus deepfreeze healer on fof proc, CS the caster to avoid inerruption, sheep the DF, resheep, someones dead. And when we met hard teams like hunters or dks or both they went raging hard like "wtf could i do?!".

Next time just take a break and afk it  B)

I remember a wsg on my druid in s5 where there were like 8 or 9 DKs on the other team...I didn't play for at least a week after that

Remove mage armor please ffs and mage it 15% less magic damage taken while frost armor is 15% less physical damage taken. Shattered barrier should be 10% less damage taken when broken and lowers the cd of ice barrier by 5 seconds?

Vileroze, I am impressed by how thought out and balanced the suggestions were.  Probably one of the few suggested class changes list that I read and didn't think the person suggesting them was either biased or smocking crack.

I actually would add:

- Shift more damage from icelance to frost bolt.
- Give blink a snare removal effect similar to warlock portal.
- Nerf mage-armor some more?  The debuff duration is pretty brutal versus dot classes.

The healer-dispell problem is more generic.  It hits mages hard, but all other casters are affected - perhaps make CC undispellable for the first 3 seconds?  Priests got a huge indirect nerf since they went from being the only offensive healer with a defensive dispell, to sharing a defensive dispell with everyone (and the usefulness of double defensive dispell decreased with the loss of junk buffs).

Mages are really just riding off the backs of Rogues and Priests right now who are both very, very strong. The synergy between the three classes will always be there though. The main problem I see with Mages are Frostbolt not being worth casting for it's risk to reward ratio and Polymorph not being an effective crowd control on anything but healers.

One thing I got to say about mages:
Deep freeze into Ring of Frost/Polymorph is OP. Needs a nerf.

I really like the barrier change because the large number of novas is really frustrating to play against, especially when my dispeller is likely to be in a number of blanket silences or CC.

I'm not saying DK mobility needs any buffs, it's just DKs are still in the same position as prior to 4.0.6 when it comes to mobility vs. mages. I may be wrong, but there is still only a 10% runspeed increase with death's advance up compared to pre-patch. *Not positive on this, so if someone could verify or correct me:

Pre patch: 115% - 50% frostbolt slow = 65% runspeed
Post patch: 115% - 50% frostbolt slow = 75% runspeed (with Death's Advance active)

- Reward mages for casting
- Reduce the amount of novas
- More damage reduction for mages
