Hello everyone! This guide includes information which experienced players will find very basic but my goal is to help players who are new to the Warlock class or are returning to World of Warcraft after a long break.
I hope some people will find this usefull!

When you start gearing up for the new arena season you have two options.
Either go Full honor farming and get start gear like that.
Or speed up your resilience gain by getting the crafted gear from tailors.

This can be expensive if you buy them straight from the auction house, however the materials are fairly easy to farm.

Bloodthirsty Gladiator's Felshroud [Missing offparts]
[5/5 Set]
4,880 Armor
2,154 Stamina
1,256 Intellect
955 Resilience
173 Haste
291 Mastery
173 Crit
138 Hit
(didnt add off parts due the offparts you get depend so much in what spec you play)

Vicious Gladiator's Felshroud
[5/5 Set]
5,257 Armor
2,427 Stamina
1,439 Intellect
1,081 Resilience
201 Haste
340 Mastery
201 Crit
159 Hit
(didnt add off parts due the offparts you get depend so much in what spec you play)

    *
      2 pieces: +400 resilience rating.
    *
2 pieces: Increases Intellect by 70.
    *
4 pieces: Reduces the casting time of your Shadow Bolt and Incinerate spells by 5%.
    *
4 pieces: Increases Intellect by 180.

Notice that the honor/conquest set is missing offparts, which is why it seems to have alot less stats

360 x [Embersilk Cloth]
31 x [Volatile Fire]

As you can see Mastery is a minor stat in this setup. Personally I would recomen
getting as much haste as possible to start off with and later on start collecting mastery.

If you're lucky and get a nice Mainhand from heroics I recomend getting a battle Tome.
Inscripters can make them

These days this can be enchanted as well.

You will also kill quite a few elementals while you level and you will most likely get some of this materials
from that. Just dont AH them.

I highly recoment going for the crafted set to get started if you just can afford it or you have time to farm it
Gives you a nice head start in resilience.

1.5
You should aim getting you Spell peneration and hit ASP. Games can be really annoying if you lack this

For example imagine this. "Go for a kill i gonna Fear control the healer"... *Resist*, *Resist*, *Resist*. Fuuuu"
and the target gets healed up back to 100%
This is the reason you need spell peneration.

For hit its the same, instead of getting a resist you get a miss.

Well how much do i need?

Hit 410 rating
Peneration 195

Also we have to notice if you just leveled the warlock you most likely wont have PvP trinket yet. If your missing
it, it has to be your first goal to get.

Basicly you should try to max your resilience ASP.. Replace parts that dont have resilience one by one

Pet:
Really important macros to make the use of your pet more easyer

All pets one button (This currently has Felstorm and axe toss in same button, I dont really play demo so dont know
if its the best option. If you want to have different keybinds for them i recoment you do that
)

/focus [modifier:alt]
/cast [pet:Succubus, target=focus] Seduction
/cast [pet:Felhunter, target=focus] Spell Lock; Spell Lock
/cast Axe Toss(Special Ability)
/cast Sacrifice(Rank 9)
/cast Suffering(Rank 8)
/cast Felstorm(Special Ability)

Focus Macros:
Focus macros for Crowd control are generally really strong.
Alot of people often wont be waiting for the fear when they see your targeting their friend
but fear lands on them. Best used vs Pillar lossing healers

Fear Focus target
/cast [target=focus] Fear

Banish Focus target
/cast [target=focus] Banish

CoT Focus target
/cast [target=focus] Curse of Tongues

Other macros:

Teleport
#showtooltip Demonic Circle: Teleport
/cast [mod:alt] Demonic Circle: Summon;
[nomod] Demonic Circle: Teleport;

Mouseover macro for destroying tremor totems
/cast [target=mouseover,exists][] Fel Flame

Posted ImageDemon Soul:
This is a new spell that can be used really well for some extra damage when going for a kill.
As demology i personally recoment stacking it with demonform for max damage boost.

Posted ImageSoul Swap:
This is a great spell as affliction long as you have Soul swap glyph (Must have)
Basicly allows you to Copy your dots from your current target to a 2nd target.
What means Dots up faster whats more damage of course.

Also Great in when doing target switches

Posted ImageSoulburn:
Uses a soulstone to "Buff" you spells from this list
Drain Life
Summon Imp, Voidwalker, Succubus, Felhunter, Felguard
Demonic Circle: Teleport
Soul Fire
Healthstone
Searing Pain

Personally i use it for instant pet summons if my pet dies.
or extra health from healthstone.

Also Using Battlemaster + Soulburn + Health stone gives you insane health boost.
I personally jump from 108k Hp to 145k Hp when i do this. Good trick if you healer is being controlled

Posted ImageFel Flame:
Great for destroying tremor totems and minor instant extra damage
Also increases the duration of immolate or unstable affliction by 6 seconds
Spell flying always wins pet running in speed!

Posted ImageDark Intentt:
This is amazing Magic Buff for affliction and works great in arena for boosting your and your friends damage.
Or your healers heals.
Just need that the target that has it has some kind of Dots or Hots to actived
Also increases haste by 3%

Posted ImageSoul Harvest:
Great tool of self healing long as you can get out of combat.
Little like Evocation but cant be used in combat.
Also gives 3x Soulshards but in arena when you join you will always have 3x soul shards

Pull you pet off, teleport LOS and wait untill combat drops and heal your self.
This is ofcourse if you have time to do so.

Fake Casting:
This is some thing you should get the hang of right away if your not doing it already
it's needed almost vs Every setup out there so that you don't get your spells locked out,
what again means less damage out but.

Good addon to track enemy interrupt CDs [for example kick] is Afflicted 3
Get it right away!

Demonic Circle:
Is used basically kiting enemy DPS and Surviving, but can also be used in some more specially ways.
Kiting: Use the Demonic Circle in uppergrounds, Leave it there and jump down, some times the enemy Melee follows you, at this point teleport back up and you have free time to dot up your targets

Aggressive teleport:

it's also good option to use the teleport more aggresive way to reach your enemy faster and get fear on him or damage.
Good example if your fear locking down 1 target and he runs behind the pillar or out of range from you.
If you happen to have teleport close by or at him teleport and keep the fears up.
Specially vs druid healers nice if your going for kill. don't want them to let cast any heals

Healing teleport:
Make sure your healer knows where your teleport is located, Good way to heal safely full is to tell your friend your going to teleport soon, at this point he starts heading towards the teleport and is ready there to heal you when you teleport.

Fearing Teleport:

If there's too much stuff hitting you and it feels almost impossible to Fear, drop new Demonic Circle after this start slowly kiting them away from the circle, once your around 20 yards away teleport away.

Unstable Affliction:
Use this spell to cover your dots from dispels and your Fear! Best way to do this against team that's good dispelling Fears is cast UA + Fear. Often when they see the fear land they will start spamming dispel, there's a good chance they will dispel the UA.
Of course People with alteast half of a brain wont dispell it

Haunt:
Keep this spell on CD all time, it's free heal, small burst and buffs your dots.

Howl of Terror:
Try to use this spell only when you have atleast two enemies in range for it, but if it feels impossible to Fear someone use it to get him off you.

Deathcoil:
Defencive:
Use this spell as your last resort CC to save you or your buddy from nuke, or in locking down enemy healer.

Aggressive:
If your going for fear lockdown kill and the healer being CCed has almost fear off him and you think you wont be abel to fear him fast enugh to stop the instant heals send a deathcoil to say "go away". either you will kill your DPS target or it gives you enugh time to cast a new fear

Fel armor & Demon armor
Rotate this armors, if they aren't attacking you there's no sense having Demon Armor on. Pop out Fel Armor for extra damage. However if they focus damage on you, have Demon armor on if needed.

Hey I'm a brand new warlock and I read your article but one thing i am wondering is controlling the pet. Right now I really don't do anything besides let the pet do whatever it wants. However, when I want to go soul harvest, what's the best way to pull pet out of combat? any macros? any other thing i have to micro manage with pet?
So do you have to control who the pet is attacking? Or you can basically let it do whatever it wants? And what about the new move to ability where you can control where you want the pet to go?

I highly recoment controlling the pet in the ways its needed.
Arena-wise its most often used to attack the healer to stop him from drinking (keeps him in combat)
But also can be used for some extra damage on the "kill target"
The damage isnt much, But its some thing.

Best way to control the pet is via macros / Keybinds.
Personally i prefer.
/petfollow

to pull him out of combat or to safety.
They added pet move to command in cata, but personally havent really liked that much as follow yet.
Its good for moving him away from you and enemys. but takes more time than pet follow due to you have to choose the spot your pet moves to with mouse click on the screen.
If you have time to do this you can really confuse your enemy by moving pet totaly different way from your teleport.
This way they cant follow the pet to you if they dont know where your teleport is.
Also always have your pet on passive.
That way when you pull him back he wont reattack and keep you in combat

Also thing you want to control on your pet is the silence of the pet. use it on the enemy casts to lockdown their tree of spells.

We use to use to control dispell our selfs and our buddys out from sheeps and fears. That how ever got removed now and we can only dispell enemys.
Good for trying to dispell Innervate from druids. But has a cooldown.
Personally i recoment having this spell on Cooldown all the time now. Not worth saving any more

Basicly you want to control
    Attack
    Follow
    Silence

Default Controls
Pet attack : Control + 1
Pet Follow : Control + 2
Pet Stay : Control + 3
Ps. If enemy team pulls your pet behind a pillar away from you and your team use follow to pull him back

Hey man,

I ran Resto Shm/Lock to 2300 MMR in S8 as my first season on Resto Shaman. Lock played mostly Destroy once we got above 1700 or so.

I need a hand with Affliction basics, I dont think my lock is doing it right atm. We hit a mirror against a 2100 MMR Resto Sham/Lock (We're like 1970 MMR atm) and just got raped. The opposing warlock did SO much damage compared to what my lock puts out.

My lock basically didnt get to anything all game and was complaining about his shit getting dispelled instantly.

Affliction is best at dealing damage to multiple targets at the same time and controlling their enemy.
If they have dots only one one target entire game they wont be putting out that much of a presure.

You always want to start off by getting UA up unless their dispell is controlled.
UA damage isnt that much this days but it does still hurt and silence the target.
IF you dont do this your going to loose alot of your damage due hes dots getting spam dispelled.

Also since we got soul swap now getting multiple target damage out is really fast. Basicly at the moment dotting up one target is same as dotting up 2 since it takes you 2 global cooldowns to get the dots on 2nd target.

Also the thing you gotta keep an eye on that you have Dots up alteast one 1 target all the time.
Dont let them run out and forget to re-Dot.
It takes a while to get damage up as affliction is you have quite a few to control.
If you dont refresh them fast enugh you are going to loose alot of your damage.

Basicly
-Start off with unstable affliction
-Keep eye on your dot timers
-Use that fear to control them
-Multitarget damage (Soulswap = Love)

Ps. Dont forget damage break fear :) how ever UA is needed to protect fear

Disagree with a few of your glyph choices, imo bane of agony glyph > haunt and shadowflame glyph is still amazing if not best in slot for affliction imo. But good effort anyway :)

Well it is an option :) personally i have prefer haunt.

I use to use shadowflame. But since using exhaustion dosent remove agony any more, i did drop shadowflame for other glyphs.

But yeh! not telling people not to use them!
