Agreed, it's a starting point (just like first chain of nerfs with Nether prot)
But I've always found either give them 25% magic damage reduction with the armor OR 50% less duration.

Both is just really too much.

it should just be like 10% less damage taken. they would still use mage armor for mana returns and it would be a formidable defense against casters. they could weave some kind of mana return into ice armor too to help them not go oom when in ice.

ill get flamed for this im sure. i really just dont see why mages think they deserve or need to eat half the cc/silences/debuffs that every other spec/class in the game does in order to be successful in arena.

Mages are running in "full" fear 5 sec now. After patch fear is 8 sec - 35% = 5,2.

+0,2 sec in CC.

Sigh, you can't look at it like that, you have to consider it relative to other classes who will be sitting in CC for -2s compared to now.

I don't mind if you let mage armor only restores mana tbh just buff ice barrier to something good and give it a temp dispel immunity like 4 seconds

Whenever I talk about mage armor's imbalance I get a flame shit storm from people saying

"WELL I DONT SEE IT AFFECTING ARENA, IN DUELS MAYBE"

And this isn't just random trolls or players either, high level players actually say this.

How the fuck? Are we playing the same fucking game here?

Yeah, as much as I hate mage armor, saying they'll only be in CC for .2 sec longer is pretty silly lol.

Obviously the fact of the matter is that mages will be in our CC for 15% longer than now, even if not in absolute terms.

Edit: the mana regen is pretty stupid too, mages have been QQing about locks' "infinite mana" for years and now they literally have unlimited mana and nothing but silence. I don't think I've even seen a mage evo in this expansion against my comp, some of that regen should be transferred to ice armor or something.

Part of the reason is that Battlegrounds are like ducks.

Finally, I understand why pvp in this game is so bad.

IMO it should be a flat 20% magic dmg reduction or 20-30% reduction in damage over time spells...being basically immune to cc and silence's is way too much in today's game

Mages armour in my opinion should be a large part of the playstyle, not a buff you throw up at the start and forget about it.

Maybe incorperating a pushback resistance on frost armour, aswell as increasing the armour would help to increase the skillcap of good mages. (Stance dancing if you will)

But i fully agree with nerfing the 50% magic reduction, it was almost pointless trying to CC a mage.
