I haven't had a chance to look over my post and update it since 4.0.6.
However I tend to think that there isn't a clear winner between mastery and crit which is why I'm hesitant to change the original post. It takes 180 mastery to give you 1 rating which is 2.5% shadow damage increase. The only damage that is modified is Death Coil, Blood Plague, and the 2nd part of Scourge strike (mastery only effects 1/3-1/2 of the overall scourge strikes damage at most). The same amount (180 rating) of crit gives 1% which effects death coil, both diseases, strikes (plague, festering, scourge, blood, death and physical part dmg of necrotic), and white damage. If anything I'd probably lean towards crit being superior since it applies to everything but pet damage, and can be good for rng burst at unexpected times.
