We should just be able to heal it with direct frost spells the same way DK's can heal pets with death coil and of course buff the health and resilience scaling to even make this possible.

That's a freaking awesome idea.  It should also give mana back, so we can convert mage mana in to pet mana.

Death Coil is a weak heal atm and can only be used up to three times in a row.

30 second cooldown vs. 2.4 minute cooldown... either reduce our elemental CD to ~30 seconds, or give us Warlock-like pet healing.

The last thing this game needs are more permanent pets.

Hunters, Warlocks, DKs, Mages with permanent pets and Enhance Shamans with TWO pets on a CD... it's getting ridiculous.

What's next? Permanent Shadowfiend for Spriests?

Soon, Warriors and Rogues will be the only classes w/o a pet in arena.

That's why you switch your Glyph of Horn of Winter for Glyph of Death's Embrace and pull out 6 coils on your pet.

Or you can have a mend pet type ability which will tick for next to nothing and you can have a 10 second pet rez which will drain 1/3 of your mana and your pet will spawn with 20% hp :)
Sorry, just my point is some of the "pet rez" mechanics are a lot easier and more desireable than others and comparing them with each other to determine "what is fair" really doesnt work.  I would love it for the hunter class to actually be able to get back his pet in arena (after all hunter is THE pet class), but basically everyone has an easier time keeping their pet alive AND rezzing their pets than a hunter does.

While it's an interesting change, from a mage PoV I'd rather keep the current temporary pet. This means we are ALWAYS going to have an external source of freezing and I honestly think that dumbs down the skill cap abit.

It sure opens up alot of windows for of intelligent use as Affix exampled, but I'd still rather have another cooldown to manage than it being permanent.

Just my opinion though.

Whaaaaat?

Having the WE out all the time inarguably raises the skill cap. Right now it's essentially a fire and forget Frost Nova. You pop it, burn Freeze and then have it aimlessly assist DPS until it a'splodes. Having it out all the time means you can put a lot more thought into its positioning and keeping it alive, since you'll have to care about what it's doing past the first ten seconds now.

Well yea, given it further thought and I guess with the positioning part and generally keeping track of the surival sort of overweights. I was referring to the current state, where for instance popping WE at the wrong moment could be more or less crucial for determining how a game goes.

I've more or less switched over to playing a rogue which is why the first thing that sprung to mind is cooldown management. Cooldowns used at the correct moment will determine games, whereas if used at wrong moments can do just the opposite.
