loot it to a friend in the same raid and have him hold it hostage and cry miss loot then kick him from raid when he doesn't fork it over, basically embellish the hell out of it. Stage something in chat where he says, "I'm really sorry give this to the right owner I wasn't paying attention!" Trade back for it after raid (while nearing the 2 hour trade back window), profit.

Pookz offered $300-400 for Heroic DFO and we didn't sell it to him. True story.

I guess I owe you my e-life for trading it to me instead :D

you get banned ontop of having the item removed .. its either a 3 hour band or 72 hour ban cant remember basically for being a tool to 24 other people .. just depends on what GM is looking into your ticket - if you get a shitty gm who goes *shrug* i cant do anything about it .. then you're up shits creek but having a GM who is tired of getting multiple ticket's about one individual who decided to be a complete ass hat and did it just to grief other people .. but like i said a friend tried to take reign - did so decided to say "Hey thanks for the loot" - left raid .. logged in next morning with a ban and when he actually got back on the item was removed couldve been the hey thanks for the loot part but *shrug* it is what it is

^Prob this bit. GM's raarely (and when I say rarely, I mean very rare) ever do something about ninjaing unless you are a complete ass hat.

I know people that have ninja'd for months and they're hated on the server and abuse people after ninjaing and they haven't gotten their item removed yet, so idk :/

i got it from my guild

its hard to imagine my mage without it, but dont expect it to be mega gamebreaking, like it is on f.e Lavaburst for shamans

on my mage i still crit the highest on rogues, did some 6-7k crits. On other classes its hardly noticeable and really situation dependant (+ you wont always shatter exactly on the 10th stack debuff vs any good team)

not game breaking IMO... easy source of lots of haste is all.

I could easily play with muradin's spyglass & maghia's quill if i wasn't blessed with a DFO :)

edit: that said... prob required to go for R1

I hardly call getting anything by raiding 'free'.

I'd probly dish out around 25-40k gold on it, depending on the person that takes it over me.

had a guildie banned for taking reign of the dead without telling anyone .. just took it said thanks and left

received a 72 hour ban.

he was the master looter didn't tell anyone just ninja'd it .. blizz has been cracking down on people who ninja shit

So basically anyone in a guild with a loot council can report their raid leader/master looter for 72 hour bans?

It's not against the ToS. A GM can in no way ban you for ninja looting. master looters sort loot however they see fit.

IF a game master bans you for it, be does not follow protocol and he's prolly having a bad day and you could probably report him to blizzard. I would.

Find me one paragraph anywhere that states that "ninja looting" goes against ToS or any rules and regulations in this game.

I have been reported tons of times for ninja looting (VoA every week since wotlk shipped) and I have never even recieved a warning.

Sadly this isn't true anymore.. they are banning people for ninjaing which is absolutely absurd but I assure you they are doing it.

you dont get banned for being a ninja, you get banned for lying about your own loot rules. as long as you NEVER state loot rules in raid chat, you cant get banned.

^ Last week my raid's leader ninja'd whole 1st wing loot including 277 neck and ring from the ships (funny he was a rogue) and transferred shortly afterwards. He did state loot rules, but I was told by a GM that "There are tools to secure loot and its your own fault you didn't use them."
