Design a BG, Win SC2 Beta

Next Monday, on WoWverload, along with ESLTV, we're going to be giving away 5 Starcraft 2 Beta keys for designing a battleground you would like to play!

With Cataclysm and rated BGs coming up, we want to see what creative ideas you guys have for making a battleground you would like to play. You can submit your pictures of your battleground or you can submit an idea for an interesting mechanic.

Prize:
  • Startcraft 2 Beta keys will be given to the top 5 BG designs we deem to be the best/most interesting/most creative on WoWverload.


When:
  • Your submission must be submitted in this thread by Sunday, April 18, at Midnight EST.
  • The contestants will be discussed and winners will be announced on next week's WoWverload on ESLTV at 4PMEST / 22:00 CET

If you cannot post in this thread. Please post in this thread in the Waiting Room.

King of the Hills rules:

4 teams of 3 players each.
Random & Rated Games.
Respawn time: 30-60 Seconds. (Open for balance issues)
When your team have died 10 times each (Meaning all members have to die 10 times before this happends) the respawn timer is increased by 30 seconds.
Travel time from each base to "Hill" with 100% Speed mount: ~15 seconds.
How to achieve victory: Once one team have successfully kept the Hill for 300 seconds they win.
The other ranks get from how long they've kept the Hill.

Rating system:
Winner: 15 points
2nd 1 Point
3rd 0 Points.
4th -10 points.

Flag cap time: 3 seconds. (Interrupted by: Any kind of damaging spell (Including AoE)

15 v 15 Battleground with a Greek stadium type feel where 5 groups of 3 people were paired off against each other like giant 3v3. The faction with the most wins wins the round. 3 rounds long and make it u never fight the same 3 twice, and if possible make it to where its 2 dps and a healer like maybe make u pick a spec when u queue the BG dont know if thats a possiblity but its a thought. So the basic idea is a giant Horde v Alliance skirmish a BG with a Team Deathmatch feel to it as opposed to how all of them are objective based atm.

- The main goal is to get the flag in the flag room and return it to the starting area which is the small isle in the Pool of Shame.

Both horde and alliance start on the same island in the Pool of Shame as I mentioned above - It looks like Ring of Valor where everyone just starts 5 yards away from eachother.
So as soon as the battle starts you can start slaying people from the opposite faction.

You swim through the Pool towards one of the 2 ways to get over the huge wall in the middle of the map.
You got the Airport on the left and some kind of Deeprun tram on the right side.
The capapults will be available after 10-15 minutes so the battle wont last forever.

It will take 1 minute to capture either the Airport or the Deeprun tram and it will take 20 seconds to fly over the wall or take the tram through it.
This can be stopped!
Turrets who can be manually controlled, can shot down the airplanes and you can pick up grenades and jump on the skateramp to get a speedboost which, if timed well, will land you on top of the tram, where you can use the grenade.

So once you reach the flag room it will take you 20 seconds to cap the flag, so you'll need a team to protect you.

If a horde player takes the flag before the Catapult area opens his doors, the members from the other faction will be able to access the catapults so they can get to the other side immediatly without capping the airport or tram area to stop the guy from returning the flag.
The guy with the flag wont be able to use the catapults, this will instantly drop the flag, he has to use the tram or an airplane to make his way back.

20 v 20 BG

start in personal bases with towers and Defensive NPCs
There would be a Murdin/Drek type NPC. except he would be EXTREMELY powerful and the player will have had to acquire certain buffs before attacking this NPC(this prevents zerging)
and to prevent PvE heroes from taking over this BG when they get bomb gear the final NPC of the opposing team could scale with Item level of opposing team.

Players start out with 00 resources, every time they gain a killing blow on a Player  or important NPC they gain 10 resource points.

Resource points would be used to upgrade the players charachter or the primary NPC with certain buffs. think of tenacity type buffs but smaller. these buffs would cost say 50 Resource points

Valor(alliance)Bloodthirst(Horde)
provides:5% attack 5% HP and 5% Regen(on stat of user)
could stack up to like four times.  

to prevent players from camping/slaughtering people that just come into the BG depending on how late you come in the player is giving some free points(welfare points) welfare points would also come to play if the enemy is just owning them as well :/ too keep it competitive ^_^

Resource points can also be used to provide defensive buffs. Improved archer fire, Stronger Primary NPC ect.

So that way defense and offense are required, if you don't buff your own base than your D wont be able to keep up with the enemy strength buffs. but if you don't build a strong O than you will never penetrate and you would be attritioned down.

NPCs would have morale. that way if the enemy stays on the Offensive too long your troops power will diminish. this prevents turtling. NPCs would also respawn after 5 minutes.

Diminishing effects would not apply in midfield.

so thats my idea, the way i have it setup prevents turtles and zergs. its based on how well the player thinks and upgrades.

as for the map i dont wanna give blizz any ideas or anything like that. i personally like seeing their own landscaping and design it has a nice touch of creativity and awe to it.

This is a King of the hill style BG.

Both sides would be mirrored. It is alliance vs horde.

[B]Players:[/B] 15vs15
[B]Objective:[/B] To capture and hold the hill in order to gain a certain number of points(like a flag in AB)
[B]Winning:[/B] The team to reach the set points wins. Or if a team runs out of supplies because the opposing team stole them all, they lose.
[B]Vehicles:[/B] Each team is provided with 2 demolishers that may be used to attack the other team, They cannot however make it up the hill, but the attack can reach over the hill to hit other demolishers or incoming opposing faction players.
[B]Turrets:[/B] There are 3 turrets on top of each sides base, these are powerful and can reach to the top of the hill, It would be key to take these out asap so your team has a better chance at capping the hill.

[B]Strategy:[/B] The key strategy in this BG would be to grab your demolisers and arm the turrets, that takes out 5 people from your team, so you have 10 left to fight.

A group of players would rush through the tunnels and steal the other teams supplies, supplies speed up the respawn time of turrets and demolishers(without any supplies, the turrets and vehicles will not respawn. Stealing their supplies will slow down their vehicle/turret respawn time and speed up yours.)

The ideal plan would be to take out the turrets and demolishers as quick as possible, once that is done, you would want to guard your supplies while capping the hill.

Once your team has capped the hill, the opposing team would have to cap it back, or go for your supplies to get more vehicles to help. Or send full force to the opposing teams supplies to steal them all and win before they cap the hill.

-There are 3 points to capture.
     *Must control all 3 points to win.
     *Takes [U]20[/U] seconds to cap [B]alone.[/B]
     *Takes 17 seconds with [B]two[/B] people.
     *Takes 14 with [B]three[/B] people
     *Takes 11 with [B]four[/B] people
     *Takes 8 seconds with [B]five [/B]people (shortest duration possible even if more people.

(To say if Horde has 5 people on base and Alliance has 4 people. It would start caping towards horde for 1 Person being on point time. Like[B] EOTS[/B] capping system.

-Capping a point with a flag [B]instantly[/B] caps it.

-Spawn time is the same.

-Once a team controls all the points they win the round.
-Best two of three wins the GAME.

It's not EoTS, if an Ele Shaman thunderstorms you go into water which will be flush with the middle island, not fall to your death.
