First of all, thanks a lot, helped me tons!

The quality I'm getting is amazing when the file is on my computer. On WCM the quality is still pretty great for such a stream.

HOWEVER.. When I upload files to youtube using this same technique, I loose colours in the first ~5 seconds of the clip, and in general the quality is really bad.

Should I just switch rendering settings around till I find one that works properly on youtube?

Or well, am I just the only one getting this weird shit on youtube with this technique?

Cheers! :)

I had the same problem with Youtube. It's the only reason I moved away from this method. =(

Awesome guide, but I have one issue.

My raw fraps footage maintains the true color of the game, but after rendering all the color becomes washed out.

This is the raw footage from fraps:

How does one fix this?  :unsure:

EDIT: Just uploaded the test clip to Youtube to test the quality, and I am getting the same problem as the two previous posters.

Thank you for this guide.

The quality i get is just awesome! I have just one question. Is it possible to create more videos with one .avg file?

My .avg script looks like the following

Quote

movie1 = Avisource ("E:\Fraps\Movies\8.avi")
movie2 = Avisource ("E:\Fraps\Movies\9.avi"))
movie1+movie2
bilinearresize(1680,1050)
ConvertToYV12()

After encoding movie1 and movie2 are just 1 encoded videoclip. Is it possible to add more movieparts and encode the parts to an seperate videoclip like movie1+movie2, movie3+movie4+movie5 and so on?

Sorry for my bad english :)
Hope you understand what i mean.

don't think its possible, 1 script = 1 file.. don't see the advantages of it either since it takes only 1 minute to copy paste your script and edit the the filenames in it ?

as for the youtube and washed out colors problem, i know :( haven't found a fix for it.. think it is something you have to live with when encoding. all of this is just trial and error from my side, i'm not a pro video editor or anything like it :)

record vent within ventrilo.
and why the hell would you want the game sounds? :/ havent seen a single good movie that has them in it ...

What's the script to do that anyways?  I have a fraps file I want to use but didn't record vent beforehand.

I don't care about using gamesounds etc, just want to know how to do that.

guys i'm back after 2 years but i'd like to point out this guide is kinda out of date(at the time of writing using 4-5 year old technology).  there exist tools that are much easier to use and do what i try to explain here with just a few clicks in a fancy gui.

don't really have the time to support this topic anymore either.

if someone is up for rewriting or editing my post with more recent and higher quality methods he is free to do so ;) you can pm me(or post here) and i will add it and credit you.

My fps drops to about 10 if I try to fraps with full screen and I have a quad core 3.7g processor and geforce gtx 460 GPU.

Is it just because I dont have a separate hard drive?
