It was pretty cool finding a player wearing them at the time though :p

exactly: The fact that everything is equally unbalance doesnt = balance.

I think it has more to do with how much more goes on in arenas now compared to TBC.  There are so many more abilities, GCDs are wayyyyy faster, many more instant cast abilities.  Everything is less telegraphed and more reactive.

Do yourself a favor and go back and watch TBC videos - the dexterity required looks incredibly simple.  The margin for error was razor thin at the very top levels of competition.

To turn the 'bring back chess' analogy around - back then we played checkers, but you had to play checkers perfectly to win.  Now we play chess (more pieces at play, more potential moves), but you can play it sloppily and still win at the highest level.

In b4 people quote me out of context ('ROFLZ BEAST CLEAV IZ NOT CHESS')

1 Shadowmourne on a Warrior on any team will be worse than a Warglaive 4/4 undead RRD ever was.

I think this became cliché about a year ago, lmao.

Timing, positioning, quick thinking are all more important now than they ever were before, add to that far greater balance and you have a much better game.

But ya, I do find myself not trying as hard because the game is boring after so many years.

TSG shouldn't win against an equally skilled LSD but 99% of all LSDs are super retarded so it's quite easy to zerg the druid from start to finish.

Arena is more twitchy now and you really don't have the opportunities for as much coordination as before.

I know back when I did 2v2 hunter/druid in S4 we would literally have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, step sequences setup for kills and we beat some teams before their healer even got 1 single heal off (including NS) just because of that.

WOTLK is more fast paced (exciting too IMO) and you have to make split second decisions that can cost you games more often. There is almost more cycling of offensive/defensive pressure and map/position control.  It plays more like combat and not chess which I like to be honest.

There are definitely things you want to do but there are less situations where you need to follow a list perfectly.

Exactly, for example i got top 20 a few weeks in s3 on my warri, i can assume i didnt really care of positionning ( war/druid carried by comp i know ), even though i think 3s requires more positionning than 2s.

I've played Holy paladin (s3>now), Warri (s1>s4), Spriest (S2>S4 & S6>now), i really think healers are more difficult to play than dps, at least as magic dispeller, most cc's are getting to be on their dispeller, and im very often the only magic dispeller in my team (sp-r-rsham, phdk..), so i have to focus on positionning..

You will truly learn what horror means once you fight a warrior with shadowmourne, let alone a TSG where both rock it.

The thing with wotlk is at certain levels of the game there's very little outplaying, I mean NO ONE can argue beast cleave or tsg zerging a target from start to finish requires a ton?

At least the cleaves back in TBC required cc lockdown. That said wotlk requires more awareness and reaction speed, but really the "fun" factor isn't the same when half the time some retarded pve player globals a player.
