I believe that another system should be added to the website where you can +/- Rep people on the forums.  With this addition, people can rep depending if they find comments left by the poster helpful or just trolling and this can ultimately assist in keeping the quality of the information on this site up to the highest degree.

With more helpful information to the website, that will bring in more frequent visits to the website because people find it more useful to log in and read through the forums and it can also add in a fun little system that regular posters can generally enjoy by wanting to gain reputation points and thus causing them to make enjoyable or informative posts.

Currently most people just look through a person's previous gladiator history title but as many people know, that doesn't mean a lot much of the time.  With a reputation system, when you read someone with a high reputation value, you can almost be guaranteed that you will be reading advice or information worthwhile of your time.

TLDR:  Add in reputation system which I think will increase the quality of this site.

that could be fixed with only 1-3 -rep pr hour or day.
"Quitted" my hunter
"Quitted" my rogue

what to play now?

We have tried this in the past without a lot of use. I've turned it back on so that you can leave reputation for people, however I still have to incorporate the displaying of the reputation into the postbit.

EDIT: Added in rep display to the postbit. We'll see how it goes. We'll need your feedback for to fine tune it as we move forward.

Thanks

I think I remember MLG forums using rep as a method for posters to control other posters.  For example, if you get 10 neg reps in X amount of time without any + rep you automatically received a temp ban.

Interesting, but I think we'll continue to use reported posts and infractions for banning at this point in time.

A quick update - reputation is in all the forums except for the Rant Room, BG forums, Name Change, Off Topic, and Guild Recruitment.

EDIT:

We try to stay fairly agile here ;)

Sooo what I found other than what you just updated is that clicking own rep icon shows how much rep you have and that you start out with 10 and going up and down from there.

might as well point the obvious now.

Anything else worth noting?

If you were a fresh registrant you would start with 0 rep. You gain some rep every few hundred days of being registered on the site as well as gain some rep for your post count.

You should put this news on the front page so people know the system is reimplemented, and now make 100 posts "WHAT IS THIS SHIZZLE?" :D

I used to post pretty avidly on a local car forum where the rep system is pretty big and basically what happens is that the more rep you're worth, the more your plus or negative rep's affect people as well.  Something else worth considering.

Here's their FAQ for their rep system if you wanted to borrow anything from it.

Yeah, that's actually how we have our rep system set up as well. I'll be making a news post about this explaining how it works later today after I've double checked some things.

Thanks for the quick feedback guys.

great idea. btw, you should incorporate the rep status in the sig or somewhere visible so that it'll have an actual effect

Sounds good, great feature.  Some posts are pretty ridiculous but not report-worthy for any infractions, this will help a lot with those.

Wondering the same. Now we can collect both Gladiator icons and Reputation icons
