So ugh, Prot/Ret is pretty decent damage. (lol @ BGs where I pull a million to the next highest being 500k, <3 pocket healers). I can trade 10 seconds off of my stun for increased damage either through crit or seals of the pure. Anyone think that it might be marginally worth it at all?

Judgements of the just just doesn't have the same flavor anymore.

Although it does give moar dispel trash, thrown in with vindication I'm a debuff machine (my warlock <3s me).

personally i would drop crusade, spiritual attunment and pick up seals of the pure.
Could cause some mana problems but since your dps prot keeping divine plea up 100% of the time shouldn't be a problem.
Plus chances are people wont focus the prot pally :P

You want crit.

Crit is your friend. 35%+ would be ideal.

Crusade is your friend because it make those crit shields, hammers and judgements hit harder.

I'm looking at your armory and it looks like you respec'd for pve. I've been playing around with the spec a bit and find unyielding faith simply too good to pass up. Also only 1 point in spiritual attunement is plenty to keep the mana flowing. I had 1 point left over at the end and threw it in vindication, but i think i'll move it over to conviction. Anyone know the math on which libram is best for this spec? I'm thinking Libram of Valiance would be the obvious choice, but i've seen other protrets use Libram of Obstruction.

Ugh, I'd take Libram of SoV gives me 200 STR over both of those.

Hammer of the Righteous is where the burst aoe damage comes from. I dropped argent defender except for one point for a cheat death and therefore picked up Spiritual Attunement which allows me to consecrate more if I'm being focused by melee, which is just more overall damage.

I hit pretty hard.

That was the first one i mentioned. I did some test dummy tests and found the dps was exactly the same with either libram, so doesnt matter, but i'm going with libram of valiance.

I tried the spec with and without reckoning, and the dps difference was substantial. Reckoning procs off nearly anything, spells, blocks, getting hit, standing in a fire in org, ect. With so many cleave, spell cleave and pet teams running around its going to be proccing alot. Here's the build i'm toying around with now: 7/54/10

As for 1 point in ardent defender how much life are you getting back from the cheat death proc? It returns a maximum of 10% of your life at 540 defense...

Signed.

It's another weird bastard spec that's too viable and annoying for it to not get nerfed.

Tried it and it's pretty bad, maybe it works when you play on a shit BG with a warrior wearing 100resil like this guy team. All their druid have to do is full warrior with hots and 1 or 2 on himself while the prot pal is unkillable doing decent damage. I mean just look at their game, warrior doing twice or 3x times pally damage on most of them.

Would never give up on ret burst as war/ret/druid + cyclone/rep.
Also you can't dispell as much against wizardcleave (lock/mage) or you get oom pretty quick.

I dont get it... I thought prot pvp was about shield block dmg? Not full PVP gear? Anyone want to clarify this?

Most of the attacks prot paladins have scale off of AP and SP. The exception is Shield of Righteousness which scales off of SBV. This makes Strength the best stat for Prot Paladins as Strength provides AP, SP and SBV.

Stacking some SBV is still important as Shield of Righteousness is on a low cooldown and does significant damage. Not to mention items that have high SBV will also have a lot of strength, stam and defense (good for Ardent Defender procs).

It's pretty bad, compare to ret if you're not dumb and know how to not just faceroll on ur burst

Yup, as prot you can't help ur team or you will be oom, so all you do is less dmg than your warrior and your pretty much a wall that can't be kill.

Yea because prot/ret has no manaregen compared to rets, ohh wait JK 100% uptime on divine plea!

Prot/ret has exacly the same utility as ret, no repentance but avenger shield and 20s cd stun. They're unkillable and with divine plea unlimited mana. Substained damage is a little lower but the burst is the same.
