Protection PvP (12/8/51) by Wickleer

Protection Build for arena. The focus was to get the most amount of damage onto the target, while supplying the most amount of CC and peels to help your partners. There really isn't that much of a point to having toughness since you will be removing all your movement impairments with Warbringer. The improved disarm to have your target take more damage is both and offensive and defensive move to get a good kill. Safeguard to help your partners as well.

don't you think dodge and toughness is a good idea?
GordJan 26, 2010 - 2:08 AM (HideShow)
In my opinion get rid of Safeguard and add those 2 points into different talents... Not sure which ones... But at same time 30% damage reduction is really nice so it's confusing :S
GracelandJan 26, 2010 - 10:57 AM (HideShow)
I would say, take 3 points from Shield Specialization -> Incite ;)
DoomxdJan 26, 2010 - 5:50 PM (HideShow)
This specc is abit wrong as far as I can see, you shouldn't really take damaging shields since there wont be melee teams zerging you, and even if they do, they will be dead by your amount of revenge stuns and similar, the way I would specc is kinda take away 3 points from imp TC ( I think thats pretty useless )
Get toughness 5/5 and put 3/5 in anticipation, remove vigiliance because its only 3% dmg reduction, and taunt refreshing is not gonna help you unless you chain taunt all pets from someone.
I find puncture not needed so much, since its only 3 rage left so you can get it in something else since you arent gonna get rage starved by spamming devastate while you have focused rage 3/3, that one is much more important.

In arms tree you shouldn't take improved charge, since its much better to have 2/3 in tactical mastery by far then that, however I personally specced 2/3 iron will and 3/3 tac mastery, since as prot you want to have rage up when you are changing stances to get your burst done with shield block / recklessnes and similar, you don't want to end up with 10 rage after poping recklessnes.

This is the link of my exact specc: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#LV0f0bZhxZi0urgbzibIdsho:cNdzmo
I have put glyphs aswell which one I was using, and while I played prot it turned out that its quite good specc and never had problems with rage starving and similar.

If you have any questions regarding the specc be free to ask, i'll try to explain.

Safeguard is huge

totaly wrong specc
VorstJan 28, 2010 - 5:46 PM (HideShow)
This is a fine spec. The bottom tier talents are all variable, and people should take the talents that work best with their comp. Safeguard is a great talent to take, especially when playing with hunters. A well timed safeguard can easily save your partners life multiple times per game.

I personally max focused rage and incite and avoid vigilance, but its a personal choice. This spec has all the core prot pvp talents and there really isn't anything wrong with it.

I completely agree with Doomxd.
CátJan 29, 2010 - 12:10 AM (HideShow)
a good spec, just change the few minor adjustements Doomxd said about, rly great ideas.
KharilJan 30, 2010 - 7:29 PM (HideShow)
too bad prot will be killed in S8
KazkJan 31, 2010 - 6:13 AM (HideShow)
no it won't.
ÖrlyJan 31, 2010 - 11:03 PM (HideShow)
Yes it will. Blue posts already confirm they're nerfing it for PvP without affecting PvE
BaksteenFeb 1, 2010 - 11:06 AM (HideShow)
Copy the prot specc I use! it's the best for dmg in my opinion.

For the people that wonder why i have 3/5 in Thougness it is because those were the 3 last talents poimts left that I best spended in more armor to increases my attack power from armored to the teeth talent.

I dont have any talents in tactical mastery either because the burst usually comes after i pop my cds and then charge so i start of with a stunned target that can't avoid my stuns. Such as recklessness > racical > trinket > battle stance > shield block > burst cycle.

For people that want to max out their dmg with thoughness I advice them to remove a few points from Puncture or Vigilance, although Vigilance is very good to protect your team member from pets while drinking or using innervate and pets attacking you and proccing your revenge is awesome!

my 2 cents

Hmmm I'll look into giving this an update.
StiflemaFeb 7, 2010 - 8:36 PM (HideShow)
LOL so many nubs here. Anyone who says get 5/5 toughness is a complete nub. Ya real good idea right because the effing prot warrior gets focused all the time em I right lolz.
BaksteenFeb 8, 2010 - 4:24 AM (HideShow)
It's not about talenting 5/5 toughness because you are focused it is because you want to put out more dmg with attackpower based attacks.
Such as shockwave, concussion blow (although concussion blow is nerfed)devastate heroic strike and melee hits.

This is because armored to the teeth benefits from the more armor value you have.

So the more armor you have the more attack power you got

So if your taking talents into toughness it is for damage output and the defensive part is just a bonus.
TorbadFeb 10, 2010 - 6:20 AM (HideShow)
There are so many things wrong with this spec. Garbage.
BattleshotFeb 12, 2010 - 9:32 PM (HideShow)
This build is wrong in my opinion, for both spec (PvP Block Value and PvP Arp Crit)... Sorry but if all people say is a wrong build, why not make a update? It's too hard?
AmognaglorkaFeb 19, 2010 - 8:27 PM (HideShow)
5/5 Toughness is good! Defensive class = defensive focus???
You also have Armored to the Teeth which benefits from Armor. So basically if you get Toughness you are making your attacks more powerful. Not by a crap ton but I'm sure you guys know the basics of accumulation.

Also, 30% reduced slow effects is nice :D on top of other reducing effects you have.
AmognaglorkaFeb 19, 2010 - 8:28 PM (HideShow)
Oh and also, imo 5% extra dodge is nice as well. I would get Anticipation to reduce attack hits. Not getting hit is a plus in survivability.
