With the upcoming "love" to Elemental Shamans next patch and the upcoming burst changes I honestly believe we might be able to break out of the funk the spec has had recently. Break out of the niche so to speak we have been stuck in for so long.
I believe with the new changes that there will be very few reasons to sacrifice Thunderstorm for Nature's Swiftness. That being said I think this build will be a staple for many shamans out there for 2s, 3s and 5s
Strengths:
- High survivability with astral shift while being focused.
- Guardian totems with improved range on shocks (30 with gloves/talents) will make shutting down casters much easier to manage.
- Picking up Thunderstorm gives you a huge advantage on Blade's edge and can allow you to posture for position on other maps.
- High crit (high mana efficiency) coupled with high consistent DPS/RNG Burst.
- Ghost wolf provides much higher mobility and coupled with TS can be used very effectively
Weaknesses:
- Limited healing capability (no pushback protection)
- No Healing Grace to protect Heroism (assuming games last more than 40 seconds after the change).
- No Nature's Swiftness for instant on demand burst or heals.
Personal Modifications/Preferences:
The build can be easily modified for 5/5 Reverberation . You will lose Improved Fire Nova Totem which is marginally useful at best(against good players) and 2% hit from Elemental Precision (which can be easily made up through gear). This route is not for everyone as if you are not shocking every single time it's up it is a complete waste. That being said with 30 range Wind Shock and Guardian Totems + 4 piece arena set you can honestly lock a single caster down almost exclusively to short casts or instants.

| You could move the 3 points over would hurt mana efficency at bit but this spec is for 3.0.8 (and the survivability change) and at that time I am thinking the games might be lasting a little bit longer and the mana efficency might come more in to play. | |

| Id think that Unrelenting storm would be better in long matches as far as efficenty any ways. As a shaman you almost always have another class on you and passive mana/5 would outweigh -6% cost on ele spells. | |

| I would definately go for call of flame, especially if your already speccing into imporoved fire nova totem etc. The burst you will put out will just be that much better, thus forcing decisions on the opposing team's healers. | |

| Good teams/players will not let the totems detonate 90% of the time and that other 10% of the time its not the damage people use the totem for its the stun. | |

| I noticed that the tree you presented doesnt quite match with the upcoming spec tree for elemental. I have taken the tree off mmo-champion to show an example of what I think would be a great spec for pvp. [img]http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?shaman=553300150321005132531351000000000000000000000000000051520010000000000000000000&glyph=000000000000[/img] Here's the Break down: *I think for burst purposes, it would be beneficial to keep points in Call of Flame to increase damage with you Lava Burst, of course it's all really preference. *Obviously you will want to put points in the new Elemental Warding (in which now reduces ALL damage taken by 6%) as well as maxing out Astral Shift. This can be done by sacrificing Unrelenting Storm and Elemental Precision. Because the hit cap in Arenas is only 5% (I could be confusing this with the Melee hit cap), there is no need for Elemental Precision. It is much lower than PVE and could easily be achieved in PVP gear. Also, even though Unrelenting Storm is very appealing in anticipating going against long lasting teams, it’s probably not really necessary. Chances are, if your on a burst team the arena itself isn’t going to last long enough for it to be worth while, and also if you keep your water shield up at all times, and totem, you really should be fine, seeing how the mana regen for shamans has seemed to received a small buff this expansion. *In the Enhancement Tree, there are several options you can have. The spec in which you will see in the link can be altered in many ways based on preference. You could keep the 2 points in ghost wolf for a fast get-away (even though you still can be susceptible to being slowed/stunned or dispelled), or if you want to switch it up, you can spec into Elemental Weapons (which some may prefer) for the 30% Spell damage increase with Flametongue for more dmg with burst attacks. | Unrelenting Storm seems like a must IMO, makes the shammy never go out of mana. Kindove like the restokin and yea like people have mentioned 3 points out of convection for call of flame, why? Because you never go out of mana ^^ Elemental Precision? You don't need 2 points your pvp gear gives enough hit rating to cap 3% being a draenei of course. I think elemental weapons 3/3 is worth it too, that's like what extra 70 spellpower? | |

| Skaterjunk has a point: I would say either go for the AoE Fire Nova Stun or get ToW. Yes, you could rotate these totems quite easily, but to be honest in 5v5 I'm quite sure you could better use your time DPSing as opposed to rotating totems. I'll have to try it to find out what I like best, but thanks for some ideas on speccing. Now, if you could update it with some new ideas, I'd love to take another look. | |

| hey guys:P what do u think about this spec?? its might a bit clumsy and NOT concidered but i am playing with it and i think its fine:P i would like to have an advice atm i am rolling with glyph of stoneclaw totem, glyph of flame chock, and glyph of lava... i really like the survivability, my burst isnt like THAT imba but its fine =) | |
