Feral/Resto Hybrid (0/33/38) by Mooneternal

It's "the" survival spec against Rogues and Ret Paladins(any stun basically, so add Frost Mages too sometimes).

Key talents are Feral Charge and Primal Tenacity(Maybe Survival Instincts as well, but it's not that amazing in 2s since the HP doesn't carry over into Caster Form). You still have Swiftmend and most of your healing bonuses.

imo 0/34/37 if playing with any type of melee leader of the pack is pretty nice for them
HanharrJan 7, 2009 - 8:21 PM (HideShow)
What kinda gear do u use with this spec? like half resto and half feral or full feral or full resto?

Also what kind of combos this good with? Very interesting spec
PaddingtonJan 7, 2009 - 8:45 PM (HideShow)
You play it with resto gear, because you aren't really taking any serious feral dps talents. This spec is meant as a way to survive through stun locks, and then go bear to escape with feral charge. This is a lot like the previously posted 1/23/47 build, except it forsakes more healing talents for increased survivability.

<-- My spec
AnimaliJan 8, 2009 - 7:03 AM (HideShow)
How much +healing should I have before speccing this?
FarynaJan 8, 2009 - 1:03 PM (HideShow)
i would put 1 more point into feral for the aura.

if youre playing with someone nonstealthed, most players will twink of 2 dps feral + x combo then, as most of them arent used to healdruids with the 5% crit aura.
this also gives your partner everytime u sit in bear a 5% crit bonus
NaturelolJan 8, 2009 - 1:43 PM (HideShow)
Someone asked what kinda combos you should play with this spec.
I'd say maybe a Death Knight. Maybe even warr or so if you are not afraid of the healing loss on your restotalents, yeah?
BlackkroseJan 9, 2009 - 8:35 PM (HideShow)
I play with a DK - specced 21/0/50 - we just hit 1900, only really had trouble with ret/dk, sometimes priest rogue. Mark of blood really helps for other double DPS if it's not DK/Ret - I've been saved a bunch just from it alone.
MooyagiJan 12, 2009 - 7:27 PM (HideShow)
this build seems really gear dependent from the loss of healing. What is a good sp amount before attempting this?
HonawakanJan 19, 2009 - 2:12 AM (HideShow)
I had a build similar to this, survival of the fittest is like equal to 500 points of resilience for the -crit %. It's really awsome, I went from dieing quite frequently to little or no deaths at all. (~1200 Healing, ~520 resil, ~20k hp, pvp gear)
KeywielderJan 19, 2009 - 3:44 PM (HideShow)
2 Wyrmhide 3 Kodohide Usually goes with this spec for the extra resilience.
TearyJan 20, 2009 - 10:24 AM (HideShow)
This might be the break though in restoration healing with this spec, and the new buffs coming out 3.08 due to primal tenacity, further reducting mana costs of shifting by 50% and 30% with master shapeshifter, another armor boost for bear form and survival instincts persists in caster form.
This would raise survivability against double dps by 2 seconds. (jokes)

Primal Tenacity: Now reduces the cost of Bear Form, Cat Form, and Dire Bear Form by 17/33/50% in addition to its previous effects.

Survival of the Fittest: This talent now grants 22/44/66% bonus armor in Bear Form and Dire Bear Form in addition to all of its previous effects.

Survival Instincts: The extra health from this ability now persists in all forms, but the ability can only be activated in Cat Form, Bear Form, or Dire Bear Form. This prevents the health gain from occurring multiple times if constantly shapeshifting.
MonarmJan 20, 2009 - 2:28 PM (HideShow)
I can't wait for this patch to go live in an hour and not have to worry about dieing instantly when shifting out of bear with Survival Instincts popped.

Good spec, I changed from balance / heavy resto and got my 2's team to 1790 pretty easy.
HanharrJan 27, 2009 - 12:49 AM (HideShow)
well im planning on testing this spec was gonna do 2 dragonhide and 3 of the other gear for resto(only temp doing this spec just trying to get to 1700 quick since DK/pally and priest arcane mage is all we end up going against ). and going to go with a ret pally. any sugestions?
HonawakanJan 28, 2009 - 2:02 AM (HideShow)
I would take out of Predatory Strikes and Heart of the Wild and put into Sharpened Claws and Primal Fury for some quick combo points & maim.

I usually jump into the fight with: Cat Charge(if I'm really distant), Pounce, Claw x2, Maim, (Claw or heal), Bear Form, Bash, (Insert Claw/heals here), Cyclone x3, Cat Form, (A claw or 2) --> Maim, Bear Form,(Wait for cast if you're on a healer) Feral Charge, Bash (if it has been 30 seconds).

Of course that's a really ideal situation, you're likely to throw some heals in between (posibly replacing the part where you'd be getting combo points during maims/bash's and during the first 2 cyclones)

What you may end up with is just: Pounce, Maim, Bash, Cyclonex3
FsmlolJan 28, 2009 - 2:46 AM (HideShow)
this spec is ment for restro druid so you would wear full restro gear would be a silly ider to mix gear also this spec would be better with Heart of the Wild with x5 talent points and 0 in Empowered Rejuvenation as the +int and hp in bear will be a lot more use been playing with this spec for around 2 weeks works well with a dk
NodealJan 29, 2009 - 9:11 PM (HideShow)
Okay. I keep reading and hearing from people that this talent is still bugged. There is nothing in the new patch notes to indicate a fix or a problem with this talent. Wondering if this talent is really bugged? I will most likely conduct my own experiment in duels at a later time, but wondering what others think about it. Also, does this talent work in all forms?
NodealJan 29, 2009 - 9:13 PM (HideShow)
Sorry. I am talking about the Primal Tenacity talent. Thanks.
MooneternalFeb 17, 2009 - 10:27 AM (HideShow)
The spec posted here is just an idea of where to spend your points, I personaly get pact when I play it, just for the lols or to throw teams off.
NapsFeb 17, 2009 - 11:02 AM (HideShow)
I want to start using this spec, I'll be with a DK, what glyphs should I be using and is my boomkin gear good to use while I do BGs to get resto gear?
RdsFeb 27, 2009 - 1:51 PM (HideShow)
what would you partner up with, when using this spec?
DexoeMar 4, 2009 - 6:42 AM (HideShow)
A dps :)
PeliquaMar 7, 2009 - 8:12 PM (HideShow)
Similar specc as mine. Im playing with a lock, but i think it'd be better to have a rogue/DK/hunter for noncast DMG and some burst.
HellbendrMar 15, 2009 - 8:47 PM (HideShow)

Works, one point can be moved from regrowth to LOTP as well if you want, this is the way I use the spec. Only slight changes. And still some could be made, I'm sure.
MooneternalMar 23, 2009 - 7:31 PM (HideShow)
I'm not sure what comp is the "best" with this comp, dk-druid probably is since you lose some healing power and it doesnt matter that much with a dk. I could see it working with any though. And it owns holy-dk because you can interrupt ALOT.
DrazznoroMar 24, 2009 - 4:26 PM (HideShow)
It doesn't really own holy-dk or not that I've seen because the druid will either go oom or after he uses his cds as soon as he goes caster hes dead unless your dk peels for you a lot.
FruhornMar 27, 2009 - 3:50 PM (HideShow)
So maybe i'm not getting this, but why 3/3 sublety?
DaeraldaMar 29, 2009 - 9:59 PM (HideShow)
i'd say this spec is useful if your last man standing doing a 1v1 with the enemy. the CC is remarkable and you could really play with your enemy depending on which arena your in. open with pounce get bleed effects on your target etc. then just keep stunning them with bash, cyclone, Ngrasp, roots.

its a good spec if you know your class and what to do against others. "FF" for instance back in preBC was like this.
YeaApr 1, 2009 - 8:28 PM (HideShow)
if i was using this spec but wanted to get the leader of the pack for my DK 2s partner which talent point would i swtich out for it?
KleennxApr 14, 2009 - 2:22 AM (HideShow)
Not enough healing power to keep your teammate up, and the lack of spirit sucks ur mana too fast. Dont get Nature's focus; instead, learn how to charge away from the enemy then cyclone and root. Get improved mark especially. I dont use primal tenacity just out of preference. Some people wont agree, but i roll with a hunter that gets 40% crit now because of my leader of the pack.
PeliquaApr 23, 2009 - 9:02 PM (HideShow)
I play 0/37/36. Healing is usualy not a probelm, unless the enemy is a damn warrior with mortal strike. It is true that i didnt play alot of matches (2 days played, 60 games or so), but i think im getting the grip of it. My arena partner is a rogue, and we are having problems with DKs (constant slow on rogue, grip if he gets too far away, so he cant kill the healer, and killing a DK isnt such a good option since they are pretty tough).
ZorphMay 14, 2009 - 11:52 AM (HideShow)
I enjoyed this spec while running with a DK. However, I find deep resto to be much easier and for you to get a lot further. Healing through MS on my DK was a horrid mana drain so I had to try to use my feral abilities to CC their dps to keep him up. It's a GREAT spec if they chase you around but if they focus your dps then it's a tough fight for the druid. Winning a mana fight is near impossible and keeping your dps up when double dps tunnel him is really hard.
GrovecJul 22, 2009 - 9:25 PM (HideShow)
What is Subtlety for?
DsdsSep 20, 2009 - 11:49 AM (HideShow)
i think this spec isnt really good. if u want be safe from warlocks or casters, u should run in travel form not wwith a feral charge...
