Talent Specs

Unholy (21/0/50)

Rationale for some talent choices... Unholy blight is not a pvp talent, meaning 21 into blood for Mark of Blood, Rune Tap, and dps talents give you far more bang for your buck. Reaping is taken for burst potential and greater versatility. Wandering plague, impurity, and RoR are damage increasing talents that simply don't fit into this unholy pvp build without sacrificing more valuable utility.

Unholy aura could have a place in some make-ups, but it is largely unneccessary and would need to pull from more valuable talents. The ghoul pet is extemely valuable, so Night of the Dead is required. He's a squishy little guy. A point is taken in corpse explosion because it is getting a significant buff with the upcoming patch, and should be very worth it for bursting, especially combined with NotD for an instant re-summon.

Blood/Frost (44/27/0)

Im really considering this one of the better blood pvp specs, you gain so much utility. The blood talents are pretty basic for pvp, but the frost talents are what make everything mesh together so well.

The main talent that helps so much is endless winter, making it possible for a blood dk to effectively use his frost runes, adding 2 debuffs to the target and putting a disease up to help boost damage.

The filler talents also mesh with endless winter as well, having the increased range, procing icy talons, free obliterate crit.

The increased RP also helps when it comes to sudden doom ( deep in blood ), you end up being able to throw a lot of damage out from a full RP bar, as well as healing yourself with lichborne ( Id like to add that sudden doom procs are amazing to use on yourself with lichborne ).

Unholy/Frost (0/11/60)

I haven't been able to test it in the arena yet, but this build seem to be really solid for helping partners and dpsing.

Frost without Toughness (18/53/0)

I'm seeing a lot of DK builds using toughness, which I don't believe is worth the points. It only works on movement slowing effects such as hamstring, crippling poison, etc which are reapplied often. The armor increase is nice of course, but not worth warranting 5 points. In my current gear, the AP gain from Bladed Armor if I get Toughness would only add 23 Attack Power, definitely not substantial.

Glyphs:
With this build I use Frost Strike, Icy Tough, and Obliterate as my glyphs.

I dropped the point from Dark Conviction which is normally maxed in most Frost Builds in favor of Tundra Stalker. Killing Machine has down played the importance of crit, and even without it I'd rather have a 2% damage increase of abilities/spells as opposed to 1% crit. While using Icy Touch and Chains of Ice it is rare for Frost Fever not to be applied.

Chilblains is excellent when DPSing a target while you are not snared. It allows you to Icy Touch instead of Chains of Ice to stick to a target. This aside, with Chilblains you can Pestilence to spread Frost Fever to other targets, inflicting them with the Chilblains debuff.

As far as Acclimation/Frost aura, I believe these are extremely underrated, especially Frost Aura. This is a great benefit vs. any team that has a Rogue (poisons), Death Knight, Mage, Warlock, or Moonkin. The damage decrease from spell casters is very noticeable.

It is debatable putting the two points from Tundra Stalker into Runic Power Mastery, allowing 4 consecutive Frost Strikes. However, in an arena situation (and most pvp situations) it is impractical to generate such a large amount of runic power before using it, therefore I opted for Tundra Stalker for the DPS increase, as the two extra points for max runic power seemed wasted.

Frost (20/51/0)

Glyphs
I use Icy Touch sigels, Icy Touch Glyphs, Frost Strike Glyphs, and Chains of Ice Gyphs.

Spell Rotations
This is my rotation if fighting a target alone.
Chains of Ice -> Plague Strike -> Obliterate -> Blood Strike -> Blood Strike -> Frost Strike -> Frost Strike.
Once 4 death runes are up, Chains of Ice -> Icy Touch -> Icy Touch -> Icy Touch -> Deathchill + Howling Blast -> Frost Strike -> Frost Strike -> Frost Strike.

If fighting with someone like a Rogue or Warrior with an Immobilize on his target I use this rotation:
Obliterate -> Obliterate -> Blood Strike -> Blood Strike -> Frost Strike. Next rune up Icy touch -> Icy Touch -> Icy Touch -> Icy Touch -> Deathchill + Howling Blast -> Frost Strike -> Frost Strike -> Frost Strike.

After spending lots of gold on my Death Knight to test out all the specs and play styles I have found this build is the best for heavy burst over Blood/Unholy spec.
