Shadow Priest/Rogue

VS.

Priest/Rogue

Difficulty: 8/10 vs Undeads, 5/10 vs anything else

A hard fight if the opponents know what they're doing and what to expect. We kill either the Priest or the Rogue first, depending on their racials. A well played double Undead team is one of the hardest matchups for SPriest/Rogue.

Again, we kill the Undead and CC the non-Undead. If they're both Undead, we go for the Rogue because an un-CCable, uninterrupted Rogue on our Shadow Priest is absolutely disgusting, and we will lose the DPS race.

If we're killing the Rogue, start off by Sapping the opposing Priest and have our Priest dispel Fear Ward if it's on him. The enemy Rogue will soon open, as should our Rogue. Smarter Rogues usually won't open until the Sap wears off of his Priest, so our Priest should use this time to get close to the enemy Priest in preparation for a Fear. Once the enemy Rogue is revealed, Fear the enemy Priest, put up DoTs, and strip the their Rogue's buffs. Your Rogue must keep Rupture up on the enemy Rogue so if he tries to Cloak of Shadows ->Vanish, it's broken by the bleed.

If the Priest is Undead, he'll WotF, blow his Fear, and begin max-ranging. If your Rogue gets Feared, he should NOT trinket, because then he will eat a full duration Blind and a Sap and that's the game. The Fear needs to be dispelled ASAP, or just endured if dispel isn't possible. The hard thing about this fight is your Priest timing his trinket. Without trinketing, he'll never get close to the other Priest for a Fear and it's impossible to down a Shadowstep Rogue. Your Rogue must stun the enemy Rogue before your Priest trinkets, so he can get some distance on the Rogue and get a second Fear off. The enemy Priest will hopefully trinket this second Fear and your Rogue will follow it with a Blind and a Sap, followed by a Silence if it's still up. This window should provide plenty of time to kill the Rogue.

If the Priest isn't Undead, he'll probably eat this Fear. If he trinkets, follow it with a Blind, Sap, and Silence and that's the game. If he eats the Fear, it's the same fight against an Undead Priest except he'll be behind on heals and won't be able to LOS, max range, or play offensively as much. The goal, like many other healer fights, is to force a trinket without using Blind.

If the opposing rogue is horrible and your priest can get him below 60% before your priest hits ~40-50% then you can use the following strat:

(All from rogue perspective, all assuming you're shadowstep spec)

I head in and get a sap off on priest ASAP, sometimes I blow sprint if the priest is one of those that stays on his mount forever so I can get a clean opener. Me and my priest stay as spread out as possible for this strat if we've faced the team before and know it will work. Shadowstep Sap if the opposing priest is running around mounted, then open on him right after the sap, don't wait for energy. Immediately Shiv then Expose Armor, by this time your priest should be under attack, have your priest call out or just pay attention to the opposing rogue's health, if at any time it hits ~60% or less immediately Shiv >> KS the priest and blow CDs to race over to the other rogue, Vanish >> CS, if the rogue is under 35% use Evis then rupture to prevent vanish, otherwise use KS. At this point the opposing priest is so far away and behind on heals you'll be fine. If the opposing priest at any point blows trinket on anything other than blind then it's even easier because you have 10 more seconds to kill the rogue.

You guys tried that strat against us when we played disc priest rogue. Tbqh ur best bet is actually to CC the rogue and nuke the priest cause an spriest and a rogue on a disc priest w/o peels is good as dead. Going on the rogue just allows the priest to stay away from fears and heal the rogue while ur rogue gets beaten to death. :)
