Shadow Priest/Rogue

VS.

Mage/Warlock

Difficulty: 4/10

A pretty rare makeup and to be honest I haven't faced many of these this season, maybe only a couple that were highly rated.

Here you are killing the Warlock, because a good Frost Mage will be able to avoid a lot of our damage, not to mention two Iceblocks. This does, however, leave the Mage to sheep freely, but your Priest should have him as his focus target and just dispel your Rogue whenever the Mage begins casting Polymorph. It is crucial that your Priest knows how to play defensively and survive for as long as possible against this as well as any other 2 DPS setup. The thing about Frost Mages is, they are so ridiculously hard to CC. If the Mage is Undead they have in total FOUR CC-breaks: WotF, two Iceblocks, and a trinket. Basically he's not going to remain CC'ed for long, so this fight is more of a DPS race than a CC battle. Start by Sapping the Mage if possible then opening on the Warlock immediately. Your Priest should put up his DoTs, dispel the Voidwalker Sacrifice if it's up, and burst the Warlock while the Mage is Sapped. Once the Mage comes out of Sap, Silence->Fear->Blind him. Unfortunately, these CCs will only be a minor annoyance to the Mage rather than a full lock down. It is crucial that your Priest drops Shadowform early in this fight and begins healing. Simply LOS both of them and run all over the map spamming instant heals while your Rogue finishes the Warlock. I wouldn't recommend casting Flash or Greater Heal, because they both have a Counterspell and could stop your Priest from healing for a LONG time.

If they go for the Rogue, this leaves your Priest open to DPS. Just save Shadow Word: Death for when the Mage is about to Poly your Priest, so the SWD damage knocks him out. A Rogue with full cooldowns is very hard to kill for two casters. Just time Cloak of Shadows when the Mage tries a Shatter combo. Not a terribly hard fight.

isnt it better to lock down the mage dps by having the rogue going for him?

especially if we are undeads .. 70% of the lock dps can be avoided by dispells not to mention that he can be CCed easier than a mage especially if hes not an undead .

for these teams i find CCing the lock is much easier b/c then its pretty much 2 on 1 for the begining and if the mage wants to iceblock well let him b/c we just mass dispell that and keep dpsing also it helps a lot to be shadowstep when going against a mage.
