Shadow Priest/Rogue

VS.

Druid/Warrior

Overall difficulty: 2/10

One of the most popular 2v2 setups out there due to the current status of Druids in small-scale arena and how well they sync with Warriors. SPriest/Rogue is probably one of the best counters to Druid/Warrior, but like any other, a well played team will give you a run for the money.

Our strategy is to CC the Druid maximally and kill the Warrior. The Shadow Priest should rush the Warrior right off the bat and fully DoT him up, while the Rogue remains stealthed to look for the Druid. Our Rogue must not be discovered by the Warrior, so be careful about human Warriors with Perception. Soon the Druid will pop up and start throwing up HoTs on his Warrior. Our Rogue should now Sprint and open on the Druid with Cheap Shot -> Gouge -> Kidney Shot while the Priest makes his way over to the Druid and Rogue. The Rogue's job here is to keep the Druid locked up so our Priest can Fear the Druid, even with Hamstring on him. If the Druid trinkets at any point during the Rogue's lock down, your Rogue should Blind the Druid and switch to DPSing the Warrior. Follow the Blind with either a Sap, a Fear, or both, and the match is won.

Unfortunately, most smart Druids won't use their trinket so early. Hopefully your Priest will have made his way over to the Druid by the time the Rogue uses all of his lock down tactics, and should now Fear the Druid. As soon as the Priest goes off, the Rogue and Priest should pop all of their cooldowns and switch to the Warrior in attempt to burn him down. If the Druid trinkets the Fear, our Rogue needs to immediately follow it with a Blind, and then either a Sap or a Silence afterwards. If the Druid eats the entire Fear, follow the Fear with a Sap or Silence and finish off the Warrior.

If somehow the Warrior is still alive after Fear and Silence, and the Druid still hasn't used his trinket, your Priest should notify the Rogue about 3 seconds before his Fear finishes cooling down. Your Rogue should then Blind the Druid while the Priest gets next to the Druid in preparation to Fear. Depending on the distance of our Priest to the Druid, our Rogue may want to stay close to the Druid in case he trinkets the Blind before the Priest is within range of him for the Fear, and Gouge to make sure he sits still. Once the Priest gets next to the Druid, the game is pretty much won. If the Druid trinkets the Blind, he will have to eat the Fear that follows. In either case, the Warrior will probably die before the Druid can heal him up.

I've found it much easier to switch to the druid once he trinkets. A warrior with a shield/sword out that's spamstringing me not only mitigates both physical and magic damage, but keeps me slowed to the point where I'd be a fool to try to get in fear range of a druid.

There's alot of different ways you can do it. This is the way she does it.

You can vanish sap the druid, your rogue can vanish cheap shot/stun lock the druid while the spriest finishes off the warrior.
FauxyyMar 31, 2008 - 5:05 PM (HideShow)
That's my point, you won't get a vanish/sap off if the druid is in combat, and he won't be in combat if he doesn't need to trinket anything, and he won't trinket anything if his warrior isn't taking damage, and his warrior won't take much damage if he's got a shield and sword out.

this is easier than you think b/c the warrior will come out first and the priest will dot to get the warrior not to charge then rogue goes on warrior and fear/blind/silence druid no need to sacrifice rogue dps on the druid thats not focus firing and double dps teams are all about focus firing.

Another thing is Lilic sets up very detailed situations but Buddhist just gives the general facts. Al tho Lilic did a fine job with her guide, Buddhist and Noxn's guides are more preferred for me and my partner.

Noxn has a guide? o.o

Very good guide, works for us every time.
The only thing that we "improoved" is rogue going for warrior as well as spriest from the start: premed, garrote, hemo, rupture. Then instantly sprint and vanish and wait for druid. Extra 3-4k damage from rogue dots usually make druid considering trinket much earlier.

Also rogue should save global cooldown for blind whenever possible while locking druid as its sometimes possible to blind after he use trinket but before he land ns+heal.

And then you get deep wounds/rend and your odds of opening on the druid drastically go down.

Druid/Warrior used to be a joke, but now that we're over 2100 the warriors are much smarter and are just spamstringing me to death. I pop evasion + ghostly strike while on the druid, and between hamstring, intercept stun, and piercing howl, I can never stay on the druid, and meanwhile the warrior is still getting some auto attacks through which crit me for 1500-2k. He always keeps hamstring up on my priest as well so we just end up chasing the druid for half the fight. Sometimes we're lucky and an imp sprint lets me get a full kidney on the druid, but even then its usually not enough to burst him down.

I wouldn't recommend going for the druid unless you find him in stealth, or he pops out very early and very close to you guys. A good warrior will peel and his druid will get away, killing the warrior is probably the easier strat. War druid gets exceedingly hard as ratings go up.

Good warriors will intercept and disarm the rogue when he opens on the druid and throw a bleed on which makes vanish sapping the fear alot more difficult to time properly. I usually dont pop cooldowns if i get disarmed. if sapping fails somehow i will vanish cheapshot-ks-gouge the druid to try and buy time for the 2nd fear which i will then pop cooldowns. The druid will have used ns after coming out of the first fear so fear->blind->silence here(fear or blind will get trinketed) is a better window of opportunity to burst imo.

The warrior can intervene the druid after fear to stop the sap and spam shouts to prevent any kind of cc chain on the druid that the rogue can do out of stealth. If the sap does land be careful about warriors timing intervene with the druids trinket, I have had this happen and blinded the warrior, it sucks. Having the priest rocket boot for the first fear works pretty well b/c the war either intercepts the spriest giving the rogue time to properly stunlock and the priest will still get there b4 it ends or the war intercepts the rogue and the spriest can get in range to fear anyways.

Oh ya another thing, provided the priest lands the first fear and the druid ends up running away feared and the rogue does land the sap with some distance between the druid and the war/priest I sometimes will just wait in stealth by the druid. Sap a 2nd time and then cheap shot->kidneyshot and blow cds and try to kill the druid myself in that stunlock. If the druid was taking damage from the first cheapshot->kidney shot b4 the fear landed he probably at around 75%. Alot of the time the druid will either trinket the kidneyshot which u can then blind and get on the warrior, he may also use ns on himself when he trinkets or he will sit through the kidney and when he uses ns. You are in a good position to call out a target switch at that point depending on who recieved the ns and who is at low hp, also by this time fear should be back up, not to mention silence. Just another strat that has worked for us in the past.

An important point : at a point in the match, you prolly blinded the druid because he trinketed. Now if the warrior intervenne the druid and you vanish + sap druid, the sap will apply on the warrior, even if warrior is in combat. It also doesn't consume the intervenne, because if you sap again, the sap is applied on the warrior again. Rofl at it tbh ... need a fix there ...

DeathdealerxAug 5, 2008 - 8:41 AM (HideShow)
Found out a new strategy vs this combo. This strat works about 90% of the time, almost unstopable to beat. It's really simple strategy. For this to work the rogue need to preferbly be AR/prep (31/30 or if ur undead its a little different. So heres how the match starts out, the SP rushes in and dispels thorns and gotw. Then the SP fully dots up the warrior and starts spaming dps on war. At this point the druid should pop out sometime to HoT, when he does, your rogue needs to jump on that druid asap and blow all cds and fully disable/stunlock/as well as dps on the druid. The druids usualy wont expect this. Your priest at the same time the SP is dpsing the warrior and also needs to run to your rogue & their druid, and stand diretctly on them. This is the time the rogue needs to pop blade flurry so it will dps heavy on both of em (with AR up). The priest needs to dot up the druid fully as well and keep spaming dispels on the warrior to make the druid HAVE to HoT the warrior. This is the point where they start panicing, Because what u have done is about 4 things. First of all theyre not used to this, there use to the usual so-so on the CCing the druid deal, second of all u have Pressured the druid HEAVY, 3rd of all their druid dont have much of a option, because he can bearly keep his self alive much less his warrior, and the druid obviously cant heal both target at the same time :P, 4th of all the druid HAS to stay in human form to keep spaming heals, with that being said a good AR rogue can rip through him like butter (Cannot go bear). With all that pressure and all that dps, theres is absolutely no way u can out heal through that, nor can u heal both targets at one time. Thats the beuty of this guide, theres pretty much no way u can win for war/druid if u obey this strategy and execute properly.
DeathdealerxAug 6, 2008 - 2:37 AM (HideShow)
Dont use this strategy, we got lucky, cause the druid was noob, thaught it'd be good cause the war was glad, turns out the war was lvling him, DONT USE THAT STRAT I POSTED ABOVE!!! it sucks if the druid just kites =/

Well I have tried 2s with a glaive shs rogue got up to about mid 1900's first time playing. It seemed as though mage rogues were 10x easier than this comp right now. I dont know whaat was wrong but I soloed war, druid got 1 or 2 lifeblooms on the war, and then he intercepted rogue while I was hamstringed...if I trinket it i get feared if not it takes forever to switch and the resto druid fully heals war (I'm at 50% by then because of stupid RNG and whatnot)Also lately if a war gets that instant HT, it is enough for him to kill me. What are we supposed to do.
TâkiAug 27, 2008 - 8:47 AM (HideShow)
With me being human I find the druid while my partner goes all out on the warrior. When the druid comes out to heal I sap then assist my SP who usually has the warrior down to 40%. If the druid uses trinket from the sap he is subject to blind+fear CC. If he dont his warrior is as good as dead. If the druid starts out in bear I have the SP go all out on the warrior and I start on the druid stun locking him with CS and KS then blind or fear. Again it means the druid having to choose to trinket or let his warrior die. Trinkets a blind...gets feared, trinkets a fear...gets blinded.
