What's the top tier comps in season 11?
It seems Rogue Warlock Shaman is the most common comp seen in top tier arena this season! A large part of this may be the introduction of the legendary daggers and PvE gear that benefits rogues more so than other classes. Rogues are able to benefit more from PvE gear because of their inherent ability to survive, allowing them to dip a bit lower on resilience and not really be punished. Add that on to the great synergy between a warlock and shaman and you can see why there are 19 Rogue Warlock Shaman teams across the top 3.
Here's a list of the rank 1 to 3 teams on the US battlegroups as of May 16.
Top 3 Common Comps Seen
Rogue Warlock Shaman - 19 Teams
Priest Warlock Shaman - 6 Teams
Rogue Mage Priest - 4 Teams
Bloodlust: Rank 1 - / Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Cyclone: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Emberstorm: Rank 1 - / Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Nightfall: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Rampage: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Reckoning: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Retaliation: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Ruin: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Shadowburn: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Stormstrike: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - / Rank 3 -
Vengeance: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - / / / Rank 3 -
Vindication: Rank 1 - Rank 2 - Rank 3 -
Whirlwind: Rank 1 - / Rank 2 - / Rank 3 -
Warlock combined with shaman teams still seem to take up the majority of the top comps this season. However, a few melee, hunter and wizard cleaves are reasonably showing up in the top 3 as well. Variety seems a little below average with Rogue Warlock Shaman being dominant. Hopefully we'll be seeing a more balanced variety in MoP with the introduction of PvP power and major PvP changes!

Our friends over at Diablofanshave been hard at work putting this massive recap together. Even if you know all about the game, there can easily be Blizzcon videos, trailers, pictures or many other things you may not have seen or have forgotten about! Make sure to also check out Diablo Wiki for a wealth of information on all things Diablo.
Diablo III - The Classes
Diablo III has only one returning class type - the Barbarian. The other four are new to Diablo III. Click the pictures below to get loads of information on each, such as facts, lore, rune skills, and other videos!
Diablo III - The Followers
The Followers are companions to the player which help him in combat with different skills and buffs. In their article you can find details about their stats, equipment, dialogue and videos for each.
Diablo III - The World
Same as the previous game, Diablo III will have 4 acts. The worlds are randomized just as Diablo II was with the exception of towns and major quest locations. Quests will explain Blizzard's intentions with the questing system and give a summery of all known quests so far.
Diablo III - Items and the Auction House
Diablo III introduces a feature which hasn't been explored much in the gaming world - a Real Money Auction house, where you can buy and sell items from the game for real currency. Apart from that is a standard Gold Auction House. They have also included a huge summary of information about the Items in the game.
Diablo III - Game systems and Modes
Diablo III has many core changes from Diablo II. Skill and Runes particularly have had many changes made quite recently, which might have confused a lot of people. This can be fixed in the Skill and Runes article. Crafting is almost entirely new to the franchise. Magic Find includes lots of information about the popular stat and the new buff called Nephalem Valor. There is also major info on Multiplayer, PvP, Difficulties and the Hardcore mode.
Diablo III - Story and Achievements
There is also a small summary of the Diablo's storyline so far, plus lots of videos of all cinematics and information about books involved with the game. Also an important note, unlike the other articles the achievements is not so much a recap, as it is a FULL LIST, so SPOILER WARNING

The finals will be between these four teams who have made their way to the top.
With the Tournament Realm in full swing and many online Tournaments coming up, many may wonder what separates a good player from a top quality one. One of those things is having excellent communication. Communication is key to success in Arena. Gear matters, skill matters, experience matters, comp matters, but without good communication you are sure to fail. Today I'm going to make a small outline of what makes for successful communication in Arenas.
1.) Gaming Microphones
Buy a microphone! Make sure your microphone isn't horrible. Make sure it doesn't make static noises, and when you talk it's clear. There are plenty of good gaming microphones; Try googling reviews for some and you will bound to find one you're happy with.
I can't tell you how many people I've played with that have horrible microphones! Bad microphones make me never want to play with them again. Don't be lazy, there are decent cheap microphones out there if you're on a budget. It's VERY annoying to play with someone's mic if it's too soft or makes a lot of static noises. Make sure your microphone isn't too close to your keyboard, especially if you've got one of those mechanical keyboards that make loud sounds as you type. You can be a really good player but if you don't have a microphone capable of making you sound clear, most people aren't going to be willing to play with you and your Arena ratings will suffer.
My microphone / headset
2.) VOIP Programs
Unless your partner is nearby or you have the gift of telepathy, you're going to need a VOIP program so you can talk to each other. One of the most common ones for Arenas these days is Skype. People also use Ventrilo and Mumble, but Skype is the popular choice with all top Arena players because it has the right combination of quality, IM capabilities and file sending.
3.) Talk!
You don't have to be outgoing to communicate during Arena matches. I've met many types of people, and they all communicate differently. Just remember to communicate anything you may deem important, including strategies, debuffs, or communication requests.
Watching high ranking teams play is a good way to get an idea of the level of communication your team should be aiming for. Each team will be a little different, but there are important basics that should be adhered to while your team learns to build its synergy. Calling out your CCs, cooldown usage, and positioning changes are all good things to start practicing. In order to effectively lock down an enemy, your team will need to know when you're using a CC, and in turn, you should expect the same of them.
For example, let's say as a Warlock you Death Coil a Rogue off of yourself to gain a little more room to breathe. You must communicate this with your team. Not only will this indicate that you're unable to fully contribute to a CC combo for another minute thirty, but you may also keep your ally from wasting an ability of their own to save your butt! As your team's synergy builds, your allies will begin to recognize when and how you use your CC defensively, and will preemptively assist you before that becomes necessary. However, it's never bad form to continue calling for assistance, and announcing the use and availability of your CC. Keeping these habits sharp is the key to improving, and communicating the state of your abilities is a great way to ensure that your team factors them into their on-the-fly strategies. There's nothing worse than losing a match due to forgotten cooldowns.
The flip side to this coin is factoring in your enemy's cooldowns as well. Communicating the use of your own abilities is just as vital as doing the same of your enemies. If a Rogue pops Shadow Dance, be sure to inform your healer that you will not only need dedicated healing for a short while, but that the Rogue's damage potential should also be reduced for x number of minutes. These bits of information will not only indicate when it might be safe for your healer to slow down and take a breath, but also when an enemy team may be vulnerable due to a lack of cooldowns.
Here's a good video about communication!
4.) What to Communicate in the Game.
Call out your CDs (example: Shadow Dance coming up in 5 seconds; Get ready to burst!)
Let people know when your cooldowns are coming up, and when you're going to use them! It's important for your teammates to know in order to line things up to get kills or survive.
Call out your CCs (example: I got Blind out of that Hex!)
Your teammates need to know when you CC! Calling your CCs out gives them a way to line spells out of it, pop offensive CDs, etc. For example, they should know when a healer is full blinded with no trinket. Knowing that helps them know the other team could be in big trouble especially if you have offensive CDs still up.
Call out for help, that you're out of CDs (example: I have no Cloak of Shadows here, need help!)
Teammates do not share the same screen as you, it's not always possible for them to know when you are in trouble. Let them know when you're in an iffy situation! Just being able to communicate this well will let you survive a lot more often. Many times when players die in Arena they do so before every defensive CD is used.
Call out enemy cooldown usage (example: Rogue is Shadow Dancing on me, or Warlock used Spell Lock)
If your teammates don't stack addons it's going to be important for them to be informed of enemy CDs too. Knowing when an opponent uses Spell Lock for example lets your teammate know he can free cast. Similarly, if you see your opponent use a PvP trinket, if you let your teammates know about it a minute later they might be able to set up a really strong CC chain and get the win.
Positioning Changes (example: I'm running behind the pillar to land the kill, push up with me / I got feared to Mars, watch out!)
One of the biggest mistakes many people make is to not communicate their plans to change positioning. If you see an opponent in a bad situation and you want to go in that's great. However, it's much better if your whole team can camp on that opportunity.
There's more! Point is, call out any big changes in the game so your teammates and you can know what's happening.
5.) Talking after a Game and Morale
Did you guys win or lose? What caused the outcome of the game?
While comps / gear / all that matters a lot, it's not something you need to communicate too much about. It might be fun to talk about it, but what's more important is to talk about what to do better next game. Even if you win, it's good to review a game and say things like "This strat worked great, but I want to try this next time" or "I think I got out of positioning there when I got low, I'll try to be more careful" etc. Let your teammates know you're trying to improve the team, and they will do the same.
Morale is an extremely big factor to Arena teams doing well or horrible. People and teams who are sinking in despair will tend to lose every game they go into, and teams who are confident in their team will win. What's the lesson in this? Improve your team's morale and win more! Don't be the negative guy who ruins the game for everyone. Play and have fun even if you see mistakes from your teammates. Communicate and improve on it, but don't bash or personally attack someone.
This is the hardest when you lose, especially when you feel like the fault lies with one of your teammates. However, no matter how bad it is don't get into that trap of just blaming others. It's quite plausible you could be right; but there's no chance you played the game "perfectly" as well. No one plays perfectly, there's always room to improve. In most cases your teammates are trying their best to win as well, your goals are the same! Try to keep that in mind no matter how bad an Arena session gets. I've had days where my teams would win 50 games in a row, or go on a completely horrible ratio. Things happen! Bad nights happen. Don't let it get to you. Talk about what you think your teammates did wrong calmly.
What is your goal when you Arena? Usually to have fun or to win. Winning is usually fun. To win you need to improve your team. When you talk to your teammates keep that goal in mind. Use constructive criticism. Talk to improve, not to attack. You're not playing to argue or to bash your teammates (I hope). Criticize what your teammates did, not the teammate him/herself.
Be as positive as you can! No one likes playing with negative people. If you have nothing good to say and it won't improve an issue; don't say it.
6.) Overview
Know your enemy, know yourself, know your teammates. To do that you guys need to communicate! Get that microphone, download Skype, use your vocal chords, and most importantly don't be a prick! These simple things are what makes some top Arena players the best. Hopefully it'll help you do the same.

Hey everyone! We have just started the official <ArenaJunkies West> and <ArenaJunkies East> guilds on Tichondrius US and Kel'thuzad US. On EU there's <ArenaJunkies Red> and <ArenaJunkies Blue> on Stormscale Horde and Outland Alliance. These four servers are four of the biggest PvP hubs, so make sure to join if you're interested in being in a guild with other great players. Feel free to whisper any officers in that guild for an invite! ArenaJunkies West is an established level 25 guild with 800+ members, while East is a guild that just started a few days ago. Guild members must be respectful players!
Mists of Pandaria PvP Overview
Mists of Pandaria beta has been out for some time now, and today I'll be giving a brief overview of my perspective on upcoming PvP changes and possibilities.
As of Cataclysm, PvP gear seems to be a near must have in order to be competitive. Though it's unclear whether or not this will remain true at level 90, right now characters with PvP gear can almost one shot PvE geared players, and PvP geared players are literally tanks to PvE geared players.
One of the biggest reasons is an introduction to a new stat: “PvP Power”.
Essentially, this is a new stat that counters the effect of resilience, by increasing damage and healing done to players in PvP zones. Currently this stat is given through the general PvP gear.
It's fair to say that 'PvP Power' will be a game changer - It's likely that this stat will be sought after by most classes in a PvP mindset, and could very well be the first step in erasing the presence of PvE gear from the PvP scene. Fingers crossed.
In addition, there have been some very interesting additions to class ability rosters that are worthy of consideration, particularly in regards to PvP. Here are some really major ones that stand out:
Death Knight - Desecrated Ground: 2min cooldown ability with an 8 yard radius. Deals small damage. Lasts 10 seconds. Death knight is immune to CCs while standing in this area.
Very strong new ability for Death Knights. Being immune to all CCs for 10seconds no matter what is huge. There's a lot of creative things Death Knights can do along with what they already have.
- Glyph of Death Coil: Makes death coil usable on all allies. Puts a barrier up on non-undead allies.
Death Knights have gained an off heal ability! Death Coiling an ally that's stunned and about to die is going to save lives.
Druid - Symbiosis: Grants an ability from an ally to the Druid, and also grants an ability from the Druid to the ally. Each spec of Druid is given different things! List of some of them:
List of abilities Druid gives to other classes: Death Knight - Blood = Might of Ursoc
Death Knight - Frost and Unholy = Wild Mushroom:Plague
Hunter - All Specs = Dash
Mage - Arcane = Healing Touch
Paladin - Holy = Rebirth
Paladin - Protection = Barkskin
Paladin - Retribution = Tiger's Fury Priest - Discipline = Entangling Roots
Priest - Holy = Entangling Roots
Priest - Shadow = Tranquility
Rogue - All Specs = Growl (Also Grants 330% armor for 30 seconds)
Shaman - Elemental and Enhancement = Solar Beam
Shaman - Restoration = Prowl (While in Ghost Wolf Form)
Warlock - All Specs = Rejuvenation
Warrior - Arms and Fury = Stampeding Shout
Warrior - Protection = Frenzied Regeneration
List of abilities given to the Restoration Druid: - Death Knight = Anti-Magic Shell
- Hunter = Deterrence
- Mage = Ice Block
- Paladin = Hand of Sacrifice
- Priest = Leap of Faith
- Rogue = Cloak of Shadows
- Shaman = Spiritwalker's Grace
- Warlock = Demonic Circle: Teleport
- Warrior = Intimidating Roar
List of abilities given to the Feral Druid: - Death Knight = Unholy Frenzy
- Hunter = Play Dead
- Mage = Frost Nova
- Paladin = Divine Shield
- Priest = Dispersion
- Rogue = Redirect
- Shaman = Feral Spirit
- Warlock = Soul Swap
- Warrior = Shattering Blow
List of abilities given to the Balance Druid: - Death Knight = Anti-Magic Shell
- Hunter = Misdirection
- Mage = Mirror Image
- Paladin = Hammer of Justice
- Priest = Mass Dispel
- Rogue = Cloak of Shadows
- Shaman = Purge
- Warlock = Unending Resolve
- Warrior = Intervene
Symbiosis is going to change the way other classes are played too. As you can imagine, there is limitless potential here! Doubling up on useful spells or adding an extra layer of survivability to your allies are just some of the many possibilities that you can expect to see from PvPers as they begin their strategizing.
Hunter - Exhilaration: Whenever you disengage you regenerate 15% hp instantly.
Hunters with a self heal now! Disengage with Deterrence could really make things difficult to kill a Hunter.
Mage - Presence of Mind: Next Mage ability with less than a 10second cast time becomes instant. 1.5min cooldown.
This is an old ability, but now every Mage can get it! We'll be seeing a lot more instant crowd control and damage in arenas.
Paladin - Repentance: An incapacitation CC that breaks on damage. DRs with Polymorph, Gouge, Hex and other CCs in that tree. Spammable CC that has no cooldown. Lasts for 6 seconds in PvP on first impact.
Paladin now can spec into a spammable Repentance. This is regardless of spec.
- Burden of Guilt: Paladin’s Judgement ability slows a target by 50% for 12 seconds.
Paladins can choose between Repentance or Burden of Guilt. Both are going to be game changing for the class, since our light-wielding friends have never had a truly viable slowing mechanism.
Priest - Void Shift: 3min cd. Instantly swaps health with an ally. Heals 25% of your health after the effect ends.
One more way for Priests to save the day.
Rogue - Shroud of Concealment: 5min cd. Makes all allies within 20yards invisible with you.
This could very well change the way arena teams open their engagements, effectively hiding their composition from the enemy team until things get heated.
Warlock - Kil'jaeden's Cunning: Allows a Warlock cast while running around, but doubles cast time
Mobility on a Warlock! Avoiding Fear via line of sight should be a real hassle now, and chasing the enemy who is sucking my life and adding it to his own sounds less than pleasant.
Warrior - Avatar: 1min cd. 10sec CD. Warrior deals 20% extra damage, generates more rage, and is immune to movement impairing effects.
Some more Warrior damage! The immune movement impairing effects is going to be huge for Warriors.
With all these new changes I think it's fair to say Mists of Pandaria is going to be bringing quite some changes to PvP! Hopefully these changes will bring us a more balanced and fun PvP environment.

Reckful has left the WoW scene for some time now. Today we get a chance to talk to the Rogue legend himself. This will be our second interview with him. It looks like there's some hope we may see him return in Mists of Pandaria!
Q: Hi Byron, also known as the Rogue hero Reckful! You've one of the best Rogues of your time and arguably best Rogue ever. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
A: I'm 22 and played games all my life, so probably pretty similar to anyone reading AJ. For how I got into gaming:
When I was two years old, I started playing Mega Man on regular Nintendo. My brother played a lot of MS DOS games when I was growing up (he's 10 years older than I am), so I played some Civilization 1 and Bullfrog's Syndicate, but I mostly played console games. The most memorable ones are Secret of Mana and Super Mario RPG for SNES and then later on Final Fantasy 7. Eventually around 1999 my brother, who is a programmer, wanted to make a Pokemon MMORPG when Pokemon was peaking in popularity. We went to buy an MMO to see what they're like. We first picked up the Everquest box but someone working at Circuit City told us Asheron's Call was much better and to get that, so we did. I ended up playing that for years. He never made Pokemon: The MMORPG.
I also enjoy photography, playing the guitar, and pot limit Omaha.
Q: What have you been working on since you've left WoW if you don't mind sharing?
A: When I quit WoW the first thing I did was watch Breaking Bad for 2 days straight, getting from season 1 episode 1 to season 4 episode 7, where it was at the time.
Then I decided to leave the house... I ended up at a casino playing poker. I did well for a beginner and had a few 10-day periods where I made almost 10 grand. I haven't been able to sustain that, though. My favorite game is pot limit omaha and it's rarely running.
And at some point my dad wrote a book. He had me edit it for him. The main character is a fighter pilot named Wreckful (heh). My brother made some useless site http://reckful.info to advertise the book but I'd prefer people going straight to the amazon for the book and to my facebook or twitter if they want to talk to me.
I'm also developing an iPhone game and will post some updates when it becomes available.
Q: So I know you've probably gotten this question a thousand times, but do you have any thoughts on returning to WoW?
A: I heard Rogues became amazing/overpowered shortly after I quit, and with NAO and live streaming becoming so popular it was tempting to come back, but I didn't. So I probably won't. Who knows, maybe MoP will manage to pull me back.
Q: Rogues have changed vastly in Cataclysm such as the vanish changes. How did you feel about them in this expansion?
A: Because Rogues could finally play Shadowstep again, I enjoyed Cataclysm more than WOTLK. After TBC I couldn't imagine playing without Shadowstep - I had that famous picture on the last day of season 5 with Mutilate still not trained because it seemed so boring. And it was.
Cataclysm made everyone hate Rogues with Recuperate. It was overpowered at some points, maybe all the time. I loved it of course - it gives you a strong independent feeling, like you can come back and win any fight even if you're at 1% and they're full.
The Vanish change arguably did make Rogues too easy, but with matches as long as they were at the beginning of cataclysm it wasn't incredibly impactful. Maybe it is now.
Q: How do you feel about PvE gear in this season? Rogues have been the class that has been able to abuse it the most.
A: Like everyone else, I never liked PvE gear in arena... unless I had it. To be serious - we're playing the game to have fair fights, if I had it my way everyone would have identical gear in arenas. People without PvE gear feel like they're bringing a knife to a Warglaive fight. Or whatever. I quit before anyone was using PVE gear in cataclysm, but I heard the Rogue trinket was critting 40k+, and all legendaries have been pretty crazy.
Q. Have you had a chance to look into MOP at all? What's your opinions on it? How do you feel about the Preparation / Shadowstep choice?
A: It depends on match length, but it wouldn't bother me that much, actually. Preparation matters less as matches get longer, and I've never liked cooldown spamming games anyway. And I'd actually take the Burst of Speed ability. It's better than Shadowstep - especially in any long fight, it's going to get you to the target way more often, and the biggest problem as a rogue is sitting in novas when your healer can't dispel you. I'd even say it sounds overpowered to be able to freedom yourself with no cooldown on demand, even though it costs energy.
Q. Who in your opinion is the best Rogue now?
Since I haven't played in so long I have no idea.
Q. What's the best tip you could give to a PvPer?
A: Watch buffs/debuffs/cast bars more closely
Learn all the defense & offensive abilities of each class
Keep experimenting for the most efficient ways to use your own
Q. Do you mind sharing what you told Snutz at blizzcon?
A: I didn't think of it until after the 2nd match, but I told him to use Bane of Doom. At the time every single team had a Resto Shaman so it was rarely useful and Warlocks never thought of it. Against a team that couldn't dispel it, like the Korean PHD, it was much better than Agony, more burst and more sustained, the burst sometimes getting kills. It didn't show up as a debuff on the blizzcon spectator client.
Q. Thanks for your time Byron! Do you have any last comments or shout-outs?
A: Shoutouts to Sodah, Snutz, Venruki, Pookz, Cdew, Azael, Hyped, Yog, Benys, Talbadar
Today at 9 AM CST we'll be updating the Arena Junkies forum software to a new and snappier version: IPB 3.2. This means that for a couple of hours the forum and the website will go to read-only mode while we roll out all the changes and make sure everything is working properly. You won't be able to post or comment for a bit, but we expect the update to go through smoothly and get the site back up and running as soon as possible.
We've got a new and improved look for the site and the forums, cool new features and overall a friendlier and more secure interface in store for you all. The strategy section is also going to be making a comeback, so expect to see tons of awesome helpful strategies there in the future!
In the meantime, why don't you check out the Curse Weekly Round Up over at the Curse Youtube channel, and if you really need to post about PvP in the next few hours, head over to MMO Champion's PvP forums (and remember to be nice!) Check out Vanguard's latest in his VanBuzz series as well:
While we tested this and there shouldn't be any errors or things going wrong, as with any upgrade there is a chance something went haywire in the process - please let us know if you notice anything that is broken/screwy. A good place for that is the site feedback forum.

The World of Warcraft Arena Pass is an annual online competition that has you battle thousands of other players in Arena combat for exclusive rewards such as the Vanquisher Title, the Armored Murloc in-game pet, and most importantly the bragging rights of being able to say that you're one of the best. Think of the World of Warcraft Arena Pass realm as the compressed and intensified version of what would happen if you stuck all the players that play Arena on ladders from different realms onto one, gave everyone access to make an Epic geared max level character of any class and let them duke it out to find out who was the best.
What makes the Arena Pass Realm much better than just playing arena on regular servers?
Everyone has access to exactly the same characters and gear. When you create a new character, it automatically is raised to level 85. Not only that, but there are vendors in major cities and starting zones that give out epic gear. Everyone has access to the same thing on the Arena Pass realm, so no more losing because your opponents had much better gear.
You can try out new classes and specs with the best possible gear and see if you've secretly got immense talent for playing a different class.
You get a great opportunity to play with some new people. Are you stuck on a server or faction where there isn't a lot of PvP action going on? Fortunately, on the Arena Pass realm you will get a chance to play with a variety of players that you will meet along the way, and possibly even some experienced Gladiator, Rank One or even Tournament level players might join your group if you seek them out and convince them to play with you.
The competition is intense! You will need to sharpen your skills and play at your best if you want to go up in the rankings, because the moment you step into the Arena, you run the chance of playing against some of the best Arena players in the world, the same people whose PvP movies and streams you've been watching for years now.
When does the Arena Pass End?
There are two stages:
During the Practice Phase you can do everything you'd usually be able to, but the teams you play on do not count toward the final rewards. It lasts from April 24 – May 8
The Ranked Ladder Phase lasts from May 8 - June 5, and the teams you'll create will count toward the rewards. Keep in mind that after May 22 you won't be able to register if you hadn't registered already or to switch teams on your existing characters.
What else is there?
Blizzard has announced yet another enticing feature: a level-90 Arena Pass realm. People that have bought this Arena Pass will later gain access to this all new Mists of Pandaria max level and epic geared characters realm. No matter what exactly that will entail, getting our hands on maxed level Mists of Pandaria characters to PvP on is very exciting.
