| Should hunter immediately run to mage and attack them after match start? | |

| I am new to arena, this being my first season. I am playing with a hunter that is pretty decent but it seems this team always gets us. He has trouble kiting the rogue and the mage will consistantly knock my grounding and try a poly. I los the poly usually but then they switch targets and kill my hunter before i can get much more than a riptide and lesser on him. also, do poison cleansing totems kill poisons better than cleanse spirit? | |

| How do you not beat this team 100% of the time? Just pop bloodlust and have the hunter destroy either the mage or the rogue, he can use his two frost traps to let you kite around the pillar, he can also stun the shit out of either dps. | |

| Poison Cleansing Totem is way better than Cleanse Spirit, since totems have a 1 second GCD as opposed to the 1.5 second GCD on everything else. Ticks aren't super reliable, but you can spam it faster than Cleanse Spirit, and for barely more mana. | |

| It is less mana if you are 5/5 totemic focus | |

| Erase, how do YOU not beat this team 100% of the time? just pop images and run around spamming ice lance and deep freeze whilst your rogue solos either the hunter or the shaman, it doesnt even matter, just one counterspell wins you the game whilst your images go around polymorphing people with no DR | |

| "Remember if the rogue silences you or the rogue", lil typo there. | |

| Erase doesn't use polymorph, on principal. Start the match with earthshield and riptide on yourself (the sham). If you're hugging a pillar and have totems down, you should come out of the first kidney shot relatively safe and with riptide off cooldown; if this spares you from having to use your trinket at the start, you've probably bought the hunter more than enough time to kill something. | |

| Matches tend to go like this: Mage goes invis. Intervene my shaman early. Sometimes catch a sap here, often they sap me. Couple of Ice Lances then a Deep Freeze on my partner, I get out of the Sap and am instantly in a Cheap Shot, Mage comes out, charges laser, etc...CS fades into a KS, which I trinket, RoS/Master's Call myself, typically I'm disarmed as I get out of KS, can't do a hell of a lot for several seconds, often my shaman is either Counter'd or blinded. Sometimes they go for my shaman, and I avoid sheep as best I can, but avoiding a mirror's sheeps can be rough/impossible. Some people act like its as easy as Explosive shot, but really, decently skilled players can easily do things to counter this comp pretty hard. | |

| You need to pray that you pop the rogue or get in combat before he gets a sap (send the hunter pet on the mage then heal it). This is not an easy fight against good teams - they will find ways to CC the shaman like blink -> nova/pet nova -> deep freeze -> poly and then drop mirror images on top of you. BL early (obviously) and use your CC very aggressively. The mage will often trinket something very early leaving him open for a Hex that he will have to block or eat. We use all of our CC on the mage and the hunter blows up the rogue. | |

| There seems to be no reasonable way to even stand a chance on this comp for us. i'm getting slaughtered between two stuns, a vanish-garrote, an imp counterspell followed by a deepfreeze | |
| Mar 21, 2009 - 1:18 PM (HideShow) | |
| ^^ and shattercombos of course. i usually use my trinket when i am both stunned and frozen, but it doesnt appear to do any reasonable help, it just takes them 3 seconds longer.... | |

| well if they go for the hunter and disarm him = no deterrance = auto lose imo ;X the shammy can be controlled so eZ . if they go for mr shammy hope your hunter know how to kite/feign sheeps and trap + wyvern mr rogue and NUKE the mage | |

| This is honestly the most anti setup for Hunter / Shaman. They faceroll 9/10 times. | |
| Mar 30, 2009 - 5:21 PM (HideShow) | |
| There must be a strat that top hunter/sham are doing vs this combo... or are they just dodging good ones?? I can do everything correct and they still win by facerolling.. | |

| Very few mage/rogue combos at the top. Hunter/shaman will lose almost all of the time. | |

| What we do is run as fast as we can to the crystal and put the flare a little in front of us so it will pick up the rogue. I drop all my totems asap. The hunter then keeps doing volley. When we do this we win more then 75% of the time. | |

| This team i swear is just luck. Sometimes I survive and other times I dont. Of course i attempt to hex mage and shock. But with a rogue on you its kind of really hard. And to Koplol there is a mage rogue on my BG. Was 1st at 1670 for awhile but then a mage lock jumped past them and took #1 at 1760 | |

| my hunter/shaman team has no problems vs these guys if the mage is frost. we usualy stack on top of each other, let the mage and rogue come( have totems, flare, etc ready of course). When the rogue saps, we just wait for him to pop out. then the mage will come in and try to poly me or my healer, the funny thing is, since me and my shaman stack on top of each other,EVERYTIME he uses sheep on us, he breaks it because he has to use his or his pets frost nova to shatter combo, this usualy gives me enough time to scatter the mage or my healer get a heal off quick. same works with blind, rouge blinds, mage uses nova to get his shatter combo and he breaks the rogues blind, usually we kill the mage or stay alive long enough to go through mages and rogues cds and then we go all out, pop hero, all cds, etc. works every time vs them, EVERY TIME. this screws up their entire cc and organization. Hope i helped some out there, gl. | |

| also don't forget to cc and hex of course =] | |

| I suggest simply not queue'ing up again if you start facing the same mage/rogue teams. It is not worth wading through the matches, as you have to outplay them twice over to beat them. | |

| I found this match up quite difficult pre 3.0 in my shammy / warrior comp. However, I did find a way to skillfully beat mage rogue. The trick was to pillar camp, and completely los the mage. Use everything Earthbind totem, frost shock. minimise the mages dps and prevent the shatter combo. Then get your warrior / hunter to softly dps the mage. Remember mage rogue has next to no healing. So every bit of dmg you can get in stacks. Hope this helps | |
