| well 20/0/41 being the only build is just not true, i did merciless with that lineup and I know what I'm talking about. | |
| Apr 23, 2008 - 5:52 PM (HideShow) | |
| yeah lol the rogue doesnt have to be 20/0/41 | |
| Apr 23, 2008 - 7:26 PM (HideShow) | |
| I'm sorry, but did you even bother to read the rest of the guide? We're all having different opinions, but I'll be glad to tell my rogue(bare in mind, that he doesn't have an account. But feel free to write something positive, I mean - We're just trying to help people, I don't mind whatever spec the rogue is, but I do mind how people respond. | |
| Apr 23, 2008 - 7:27 PM (HideShow) | |
| Sorry if I sounded like a whine face, but we've spend a lot of time when we're very short on it =) | |
| Apr 24, 2008 - 1:20 AM (HideShow) | |
| I'm very thankful for the guide. This is my 2v2 comp, and I've been struggling what to spec for weeks. I'd love to read your rogue's point of view. | |
| Apr 24, 2008 - 2:16 AM (HideShow) | |
| I run this at 2324 atm, and my rogue uses mutilate as his spec, and I use 0/9/52 because I almost never get focused. Shadowstep just didn't have enough damage for our taste, we couldn't get them on the defensive enough with it. | |

| Wtb guide from Clefairy, then. | |
| Apr 25, 2008 - 7:28 AM (HideShow) | |
| Thank You very much for the guide. I play the same setup and since i`m just a casual player, i and my rogue have had hard time. So its good to read informative guides about this unique setup. Those who say the rogue doesn`t have to be Shadowstep to play this combo, please read the guide first! | |
| Apr 25, 2008 - 4:32 PM (HideShow) | |
| I'd have agree with Clefairy. I used to run this comp with a Shadowstep rogue from 1500 to 2100 with about 15 losses. We just recently switched to mutilate after the 2.4 changes. It's just as easy to hit 2100 with mutilate, some fights are a little tougher but still winnable. The mutilate build really lets you pressure warrior+healer teams better tho. I think its more about speccing what helps you have a higher chance against your harder teams. 0/9/52 is the best spec imo. Instant ghostwolf still for the few fights where you need it. But most of the time, it's going to be your rogue getting eaten by warriors and I like the 52 resto build much more. | |
| Apr 26, 2008 - 6:54 PM (HideShow) | |
| well as I said, 20/0/41 for rogue is absolutely not the best or the only spec imo. as saridan said, 0/9/52 is the best spec for shamans. | |
| Apr 27, 2008 - 4:53 PM (HideShow) | |
| btw we finished s2 with 2583 #1 with that | |
| Apr 27, 2008 - 8:08 PM (HideShow) | |
| Flight here from Mutilate Hero, just thought i'd say hey. | |
| Apr 27, 2008 - 11:08 PM (HideShow) | |
| Chiar, what spec did your rogue run with, or better yet, what spec would he run now? I'm game for trying anything. We can't seem to get past 1900. | |
| Apr 28, 2008 - 11:21 AM (HideShow) | |
| we played 17/44/0 and nowadays he'd spec 20/41/0 I guess..we tried any spec in s3 and we feel we could still do best with combat ...it's all about teamplay then, don't expect to be any successful with it, if you haven't played lots of matches. Since we haven't played for quite a while (cuz i'm currently playing druid/priest professionally on some pro team) I think we'd start with 20/0/41 first for warmup purposes - I don't feel it's the best spec for high end ratings/rankings tho' | |
| Apr 28, 2008 - 1:35 PM (HideShow) | |
| I would definitely say learn the team with Shadowstep also. We've done like 400 matches this season with shadowstep and now we're playing with mutilate to try something new. The highest we hit was like 2180 a few months ago but now we're trying mutilate. You really won't take a significant rating loss trying new specs. We're sitting at 2100 again after learning how to play with Mut. We're still figuring out new tactics specifically against Rogue Disc Priest. Proper positioning is much more important without the extra mobility of Shadowstep but I like the huge damage my rogue can crank out. | |

| PALADIN/WARRIOR AND SHAMAN/WARRIOR ARE RIDICULOUS. Any suggestions as this comp? It tanked our rating 150 hitting this comp over and over :\ | |
| May 2, 2008 - 3:21 PM (HideShow) | |
| paladin warrior: warrior focus, you lose = you're bad shaman warrior: full warrior focus (shaman nuking bolts and shit) / full shaman focus (shaman kiting warrior with ghostwolf) | |
| Danzou | May 3, 2008 - 2:24 PM (HideShow) |
| Thanks for guide, we'd never have hit 1850 without it! | |
| May 5, 2008 - 2:02 PM (HideShow) | |
| Stalla: Both fights are really badly favor of the other side, but you've changes to win Pala+Warr: We managed to nuke the warrior down few times, because pala didn't bubble soon enough and stood too close to our rogue; we kicked/shocked his heals. Just pop BL from very start and if possible try to LoS warrior from his healer (does not work against better teams). I've also thought about something like rogue to paladin -> purge BoF and shaman nukes warrior, althought we havent tried that out just yet. Shaman+War: We usually go for the shaman and lock him down as well as we can. Discuss about the kick/shock rotation and remember to purge ES! If you've time at the start you can try applying mind-numbing/wound poison and shaman keeps fshock up on other shaman (we've only tried this once, but it worked :o) ++Be ready to purge Gwolf, if the shaman goes trinket->Gwolf! In both matches change ES to rogue as soon as warrior changes on him and at least us like to go very offensive. (shaman spamming CL/LB + shocks). P.S. Dont mind about my current rating; im currently trying out sham+war with random warrior (axe specc ands shit ftl) and it doesnt work even closely as good as with my trusted rogue mate :) King Regards -Huntta | |
| May 6, 2008 - 6:49 AM (HideShow) | |
| Against shaman/warrior we're mostly going for the warrior, he's rather easy to nuke down with berserker stance and he doesn't has NG and a lot more armor. You can easy lock down the shamans heals, by kiting the warrior los and simply kick/earth shock/blind. Sometimes we swap tactic if the team has already been beaten by the other tactic, so we're still going full nuke on warrior, and instantly blind shaman after he gets out of sap, when he trinkets and perhaps instant heal warrior we're swapping for shaman. He's a lot easier without trinket and NS. - Blowi . | |
| May 9, 2008 - 1:18 AM (HideShow) | |
| Could you post a quick strat for rogue / priest? We do decently against them, but we're not as good as you act like we could be against em. | |
| May 12, 2008 - 7:50 PM (HideShow) | |
| blowi what do you run for 3s, you seem to run uncommon setups and im looking for something new | |
| May 14, 2008 - 8:03 PM (HideShow) | |
| I used to play a Shaman/Rogue combo on Barthilas and my team got up to a 1850 rating. It is very versatile and a really good counter to some of the top combos. It all comes down to your play style and understanding the classes you are up against. | |
| May 16, 2008 - 6:50 AM (HideShow) | |
| I'm running Resto druid/Dreamstate, Resto Shaman, Warrior . We're thinking about trying Shs Rogue/Shaman/Dreamstate druid in S4, but we'll see :D I'll post someting about Rogue/Priest later on, but exams are killing me =( - Blowi . | |
| May 16, 2008 - 6:51 AM (HideShow) | |
| If you'd like to run a fun setup which you don't encounter a lot . I'd recommend Resto Shaman/Frost Mage/BM Hunter . | |

| Thanks a bunch blowi, I've been running this combo and it's nice to have a layout for success for one of the more uncommon combos in arenas. | |

| Need some help with Holy/Shadow Priest + Rogue. My rogue gets on their priest, i purge everything, then usually i keep good distance from the rogue, so he ends up getting on my rogue. since my rogue is focusing the priest and not fighting back on the rogue, i'm constantly healing him. eventually i get a kidney shot, then i trinket and get blinded and it's GG.. or they kill tremor and fear me.. something of the sort and it's GG | |
| May 23, 2008 - 11:54 PM (HideShow) | |

| some help for shaman/rogue against disc/rogue ? | |
| May 26, 2008 - 7:59 PM (HideShow) | |
| Go for the priest, this was the main problem me and my partner were having, we were playing too much like a drain team. Have your shaman spam purge, always have a tremor totem down, and be sure to have your shaman stay away from the priest, both of you getting feared with a tremor totem killed a second before can cost you the game. If their rogue goes on your shaman, its a free win, you can kill a priest before a rogue can kill your shaman. Blow bloodlust when you feel comfortable (enough pressure on the priest to where he wont dispel it). Have your shaman help you shock any heals that the priest may fake cast. Be sure to trinket the blind, not the fear. | |
| May 28, 2008 - 10:09 AM (HideShow) | |
| just seems like the rogue will always go on my rogue, while my rogue is on their priest. which usually makes me have to overheal the rogue and i usually lose the mana fight. more indepth suggestions anyone? =T | |
| May 29, 2008 - 12:49 AM (HideShow) | |
| What helps me is to blow Sprint/Evasion/Ghostly strike, cloak when/if he lands a crippling, rotate around the priest and make sure your rogue is facing their rogue, during evasion he should take little/no damage (outside of the initial CS/KS) he should** dodge most attacks. Also, dont be afraid to throw lightning bolts out there to help assist with the dps. When the priest hits ~40%, vanish cheap shot, kidney shot, this should give you more than enough time to drop the priest. If its a mana war, you will lose, you have to put tons of pressure onto the priest, we rarely win priest/rogue games where we have to outlast a priest. You could have your rogue Prevanish and try to find the rogue (who may very well be next to his priest) for an early sap. ** ive been triple crit by warriors with 92% dodge 5% parry unstunned facing them. | |
| Jun 5, 2008 - 6:21 AM (HideShow) | |
| When we meet Rogue/Priest, we're mostly sticking on the rogue, but we use blind to sometimes swap and pressure the priest, he's using a lot more mana if he suddenly thinks we'll try to kill him - I'll be able to drink in the meanwhile as well, besides it's easy to win the war, when you can purge everything and avoid mana burns/fear very easy with ghost wolf. You can time Clok with your rogue to get a big heal on, if you've stacked Imp. Healing Wave etc, on 18% and then he uses Clok just before it hits, so poison is off. | |

| Jun 10, 2008 - 4:55 PM (HideShow) | |
| Just started playing this combo last night, and it owns. I didn't think it was even a viable combo as no CC but what I have come to realise is this combo has insane interruption, shocks, kicks, stuns, totems. Currently 2042 as mutilate with 42-5 so far, and loving it. I recommend more rogues try this combo out, it especially rapes any warlock team. | |
| Jun 13, 2008 - 11:45 AM (HideShow) | |
| need help with lock/druid.... purge everything, shock what i can, but it's hard because most of the time i'm just trying to heal myself/my rogue due to all the damn dots. i'm literally healing the entire fight with water shield (good locks remove pet when i'm oom) and i either lose the mana fight but most of the time me and my partner have too many dots and eventually we both get low on health and i get CC'd to shit (gg totem kill macros) till one of us dies advice? | |
| Jun 14, 2008 - 2:44 PM (HideShow) | |
| Right we are now 2109, and having big problems vs druid/rogue. I am mutilate and I find it terribly hard to get near the druid as it's so easy for them to just CC me and keep the rogue on me locking me down. We have tried just going for the rogue and shocking/blind the druid but he never seems to go oom and can always outheal, they can also easily run off and drink. Advice? | |
| Jun 17, 2008 - 3:54 AM (HideShow) | |
| Yup started this combo with a friend tonight. Having problems with Pally/warrior mainly. Basically they just tunnel vision the rogue to victory and dunno if there is anything we can do better. Advice appreciated =-) | |
| Jun 21, 2008 - 7:32 AM (HideShow) | |
| Ratatat as mut i'd stick to the rogue, make your shaman dispel abolish poison/rejuvenation/lifebloom(if there are 3 stacks you can dispel 2 without any blooms). The harder part is your shaman getting cycloned cuz when he does,he'll get the CC rotation and if you get a kidneyshot at that point you're most likely dead..but as far as that doesn't happen you should win the managame if your shaman purges enough. Oh don't forget have earthshield on you all the time. | |
| Jun 22, 2008 - 1:46 AM (HideShow) | |

| Jun 23, 2008 - 2:36 PM (HideShow) | |
| Chutebox druid lock(and mainly any healer lock) should be a free win for you,so i really don't understand whats the problem:/ Keep your rogue on their lock,if he gets any fears through cast tremor, keep watershield up,if you can, heal with healing wave(much more efficient),if the druid goes to CC your rogue earthshock em(cloak should be used last when you can't interrupt the CC).If they are pressuring you hard, and your rogue is dying, you should save the clos for clos vanish. But most teams are inexperienced against this combo and have no idea how to effectively pressure. | |

| Can someone explain to me whats more important Anticaption or the block rating? in the enhancement tree? As well, id love to read more about this combo and learn more i believe me and my rogue are very skilled and i think its a viable combo later on in the brackets. i find mage/rogue easy. Priest/rogue hard as fuck/ Spriest/rogue Not as hard as people said its a stay alive race keep totem and cleanse totem and grounding should be ok it will get a little tuff when they burst but Blood lust early and try to ES when the priest heals if he changed form. But please tell me more about this combo love to hear it. | |
| Jul 2, 2008 - 2:41 PM (HideShow) | |

| I am soon 70 with my shaman, and I asked my friend, that got like the best PVP priest on the server for advice for my arena 2vs2 team. I told him about this guide and he said that this setup sucked in high rating. So I wonder if he is wrong and that this setup still is very fun and powerfull in low rating as in high rating the arena..? | |
| Jul 31, 2008 - 11:30 PM (HideShow) | |
| me and my team are at around 2k in s4.. but cant seem to progress... we seem to lose to druid / warr the most and occassionally dreamstate/rogue.. We try to get on druids for the most part but my rogue is usually unable to move. so hes forced to go on warr/rogue. What are we doing wrong? | |
| Aug 3, 2008 - 12:01 PM (HideShow) | |
| War/druid is our hard counter. IF your rogue is mut (and an orc) the fight is heavily favored in your favor if your rogue does a couple of things differently. The biggest thing is he HAS TO RUN double wound even when he is trying to peel the rogue off you from the start. | |
| Aug 3, 2008 - 2:56 PM (HideShow) | |
| yes decent war/druid is most hardest fight for us. most annoyin thing atm is when druid out of mana, warrior simple go deff and can live with 1 bloom for ages, i think we gonna try mutilate spec just to test it abit more vs war/druid teams | |
| Aug 3, 2008 - 4:48 PM (HideShow) | |
| Yep for us vs war/paly or shaman teams we can run the shaman or paly oom as mut. Druid/war though is a nightmare we can run the druid oom then here comes the run away and drink while the war stops us from getting to the druid. | |
| Aug 11, 2008 - 7:20 AM (HideShow) | |
| I love this combo | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 12:05 PM (HideShow) | |
| Rolent, I talked to you the other day (I think) On Burning Blade or Burning Legion (I forget) about Shaman/Rogue and you were like 2090 or something, I wouldn't mind hearing some shiz about how you do it, I currently run Shaman/Warrior at about 1980. I don't understand how you beat the teams you do, but what I suggest against Druid/Warrior, is keep the Druid down, I have a Druid 2070 atm with Druid/Rogue. We usually last under pressure, but ALL Shaman/Rogue teams the Rogue is Swords/Maces Combat. He gets a 5 point expose/vanish/garrote/The Rogue equivilent to Sweeping Strikes (Forget the name)/Slice and Dice/Bloodlust. That right there is .6 second hits and man.. if 1/3 of those are crits I die. Guarenteed, I suggest getting the Druid into bear and stunning him, suck up your totems and make the Shaman stay close. No bear charges can get off, otherwise GG that should give the Warrior enough time to kill either the Rogue or the Shaman. | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 12:12 PM (HideShow) | |
| Also Rolent, how the HELL do you run the Shaman/Pally teams OOM before your Shaman goes OOM?? Shaman/Warrior for example, you hit Shaman while keepin the Warrior crippled (If you can) The enemy Shaman purges all Earth Shields as soon as he sees it cast, Warrior stops killing the Shaman at 50% (Presuming he gets it there) whilst the Mut Rogue is getting kited around by the Shaman. Warrior Intervenes to the Shaman (If he's 35/23/3) and bursts him down to 60% at least, the Shaman comes out and starts a heal, it gets either shocked or Intercepted, depending if there's a grounding totem active or not, he then Bloodlusts with 5 Sunders (If they're still there before the intervene) and max rank Earth Shocks, if he gets down to 50% and the Bloodlusts are only coming off just now, he's most probably going to die. He trinkets (Maybe) and runs away from the Warrior, who then turns around and decimates the Rogue. This is my current strat to Shaman/Rogue, knowing that a Shaman can not heal a Rogue with no Evasion/GS/CD. If you see any flaws lemme know, wouldn't mind new strats to try out. =D | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 12:25 PM (HideShow) | |
| Another thing, what's unique about Shaman/Rogue? Druid/Rogue can do everything and more that a Shaman can, so can a Paladin. Wondering what keeps them winning all the games that usually they wouldn't with a Druid or Paladin? | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 2:33 PM (HideShow) | |
| Well first thing is the war will be at 50% less heals the whole fight vs paly or shaman. What it comes down to in those fights is how much RNG comes into play for their team on my kidney shot resists on the war. I run double wound against war/shaman and wound/deadly vs paly/war. In war/shaman the fight doesnt last as long because the shaman is using so much mana dropping posion totems and big heals if he tries to manually dispell my posions he will go oom so fast. The key on these fights is sticking the war untill either the paly is oom or the shaman is oom then I can swap to them and they die. I wont go all into it but the rogue hs to make sure you let your shaman know when you are going for a ks nd amking sure you have 120 energy before you do. Thats where the RNG factor comes into play a war with his stun resist. | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 2:44 PM (HideShow) | |
| Well bout playing with a shaman over paladin or druid. My RL best bud plays a shaman and I wouldn rather play with him over anyone else. Now there are certain advantages to playing a shaman over a paladin bigtime witha rogue and some with a druid. The first is any hunter team is much easier for a shaman then a paladin. A well played shaman can hold onto his mana for ever and you have to remember also I am mut so he gets 20% more heals to me as well. He can also snare for me when I need to run dobule wound or wound/deadly. Lock/druid is a team we make most of our points off because its such an easy win for us. Now playing with a shaman over a druid all i know is that when we fight rogue and druid I run double wound on the rouge and force him to go after me because one of the biggest strengths witha rogue and druid is that the druid can keep the rogue up with hots easy if there is no healing debuff on him which then allows him to cyclone and root me. In that fight because I run double wound its so important that I run double wound so that when I go for a big energy dump the druid has to stand there and heal with big heals or his rogue will die. Now to do this I need my shaman to snare the rogue. For me and my bud we HAVE to play shaman/rogue or we wounldnt be able to play together so its making the best outta what we can and it feels nice doing something and succeeding at it by not following the curve. | |
| Aug 12, 2008 - 2:45 PM (HideShow) | |
| Nice spelling typos and i cant edit them nice! | |
| Aug 20, 2008 - 7:21 AM (HideShow) | |
| From a Shaman/Warrior perspective, the only way to beat Sham/Warr is to play extremely offensively. Rogue should be on the Warrior, Shaman should be positioned so that he can easily switch from DPS'ing the Warrior to interrupting heals if the Warrior starts to play defensively. If your Shaman is forced to heal and gives their Shaman an opportunity to shock a heal on your Rogue, it's pretty much game over. Nonetheless, Shaman/Rogue is really fun to play. | |
| Aug 22, 2008 - 2:46 AM (HideShow) | |
| Shaman Rogue is fun with Rolent =O. All the warrior teams are tough. But right now, I feel somewhat comfortable against Shaman / Warrior. It's still hard (also depends on racials) but from a shaman perspective it's not even close to as bad as War Druid. We do decent shrug... | |
| Aug 23, 2008 - 5:18 AM (HideShow) | |
| I've always had an easy time against shaman/warrior by just focusing the Shaman and rotating interrupts. Rogues have a lot more interrupts and can lock down a shaman more easily, allowing you to play more aggressive than they can. Their shaman will be behind on hp from the beginning and you will have an easier time purging earth shields and bloodlust, while they have a harder time purging yours. | |
| Aug 24, 2008 - 7:12 PM (HideShow) | |
| Everything that has been said here really points to the viability of this comp. How would you compare them to a Shaman/Warr? | |
| Aug 27, 2008 - 1:29 PM (HideShow) | |
| I would actually think that shaman/rogue is a tad more viable than war/shaman. Sure you wont have WF but instead you can have your shammie play defensively keeping grounding down 100 % of the time. | |
| Aug 27, 2008 - 2:40 PM (HideShow) | |
| Right now its the RNG factor of shaman/war that makes it more viable. Once the RNG is gone from war/shaman then rogue/shaman will be much more viable. | |

| Hey Blowi thanks for the great guide, decided to try this combo out yesterday and we got to 1735 for a while, still learning. We seem to beat pretty much everything except druid warrior. (We only win when the warrior targets the shaman and I have free rein on the druid). Its killing us right now since I can't get on the druid because of spamstring and bear / travel form. Really need some advice here as to what to do. We've tried the Blinding tactic but most of the time the warrior gets away with 15% health or so. Does anyone have a new tactic that we could try? | |
| Sep 6, 2008 - 2:32 AM (HideShow) | |
| Let's hear it for 3.0's RNG nerf! | |
| Sep 6, 2008 - 2:41 AM (HideShow) | |
| Saroban: I'd like to know what spec. you and your shaman are before I post, but: Mutilate: Pew pew the warrior with your shaman helping then purging. Just force the druid to pop swiftmend(mana pool dump) and NS to drops CDs, and keep pressuring. Blind should be used(imo) after you burst the warrior, in the situation that the warrior lived and is just tearing you up now. This might give you the small reaction time to run to the druid (save your sprint for this). Try getting the druid, and hopefully buy off a few seconds where warrior isn't hitting you and your partner could drink (IE warrior stuck in middle of map poisoned and you're around a pillar). Find good opportunities to kill either one of them. Sub:. Burst warrior as much as you can at start (CS>Hemo>Hemo>Slice and Dice)BLIND as soon as you've got the warrior to at least 70%, and the druid would likely trinket.Switch to the druid(Shadowstep). Hit him until he bear forms, if he cheetahs try to keep slowing him even if it wastes your combo points. This is hurting his mana over time. Swap back to the warrior whenever the druid bear forms/gets too far away to be worth chasing. As soon as blind comes back up, you need to get a CC train on the druid. Try saving a vanish for this point (Cloak of shadows too if faerie fire is kept up). If your shaman is completely oom, you might as well use this time to force the warrior into shield (burst as hard as you can, pop your cooldowns) so your shaman can drink. If your shaman has mana, he should be lightning bolt spamming. As soon as(if) the druid leaves sap or blind, be sure to have your shaman purge the warrior to death. I don't find combat viable enough to spend the effort making advice on this. Good luck. (Warrior won't generally hit the shaman) | |

| A friend and I randomly decided to start playing this comp yesterday and we did amazingly well considering my lack of experience. He does well carrying me. Anyway, a couple questions. One, I'm using a lot of PVE gear and have ~100 res in pvp gear. What's a target number to go for? Also, I have some merc elemental gloves that I picked up when I was dps specced. Should I use those over a much better PVE pair or hold out for Brutal gloves? Lastly, on those 2 dps teams, perhaps double rogue, what are some tips to getting away so I can get my heroism going? Thanks guys :) | |

| Gonna be honest Lykria, you're gonna suck hard until you get your gear. Go for cap. I would use the elemental gloves, just because you're that behind in resilience. Getting away to heroism....ugh, good luck. If you're getting double rogue'd, your only chance is get yours to peel one well enough, and if he does that you can probably manage a heroism. | |

| Double rogue is easy if they don't have 4+4 and warglaives, your rogue is on one of their rogues, you kite,if they both get to you or you're getting low,use heroism. If the rogue your rogue is on trinkets kidney,blind->sap it and switch on the other one.It should basically be only one rogue on you the whole game.Btw don't trinket unless it's really needed, because if you get blind sapped your rogue is dead. | |
