General Information

A Warrior buddy and myself have been 2v2ing as Priest/Warrior since S2 and its quite a fun make up to play.

I don't claim to be the best, so offer any suggestions that you will.

Note: You may notice I didn't stress Mana Burn for any of these make ups, I never use it as my top priority. Use it when possible. I find dispels/landing fears to be more useful. Although if you are on the DPS in a DPS healer team, fearing the healer and Mana Burn spam followed up with MC works wonders.

Builds

Priest

I play as 43/5/13 to help burst targets as well as the shorter Fear cool downs, lower chance for Fears and Blackout to be resisted.

Warrior

The Warrior I play with is MS/Flurry Spec 33/28/0

how on earth do you get this combo to work. Me and my friend have both had 2k+ exp but just can not get a priest/warr team to kill any druid/dps team
NakluApr 7, 2008 - 2:48 PM (HideShow)
Lol, lots and lots of practice. :)
WeashellApr 11, 2008 - 7:29 AM (HideShow)
I have 2 combos and those are hardest combos against priest/warrior..
i wonder do you have an idea about rogue/rogue(both on priest) and druid rogue(rogue always on priest and druid heals like a crazy as i cant burn druid's mana..).. thanks :)
NavadorsApr 16, 2008 - 2:28 AM (HideShow)
Yeah we hit 2.3k on my battlegroup but lowered it due to some combos :/
DeewayzApr 16, 2008 - 11:24 AM (HideShow)
To Weashell: Rogue/Rogue is certainly very difficult, and would probably require a bit of luck in revealing a rogue/getting successful fears off/resists on crips, etc.

Druid/Rogue on the other hand shouldn't be as difficult (At least not as difficult as Priest/Rogue or the more rare Pally/Rogue). Just have your warrior stay on the rogue the whole time. The rogue will typically go for you, so you have to kite and survive, while keeping the Druid in mind and fearing/burning him whenever possible. When the rogue is out of Cooldowns, he has very little he can do against your warrior, and you should be able to burst him down in a fear (twice t_t).

Priest/Rogue is more aggressive than Druid/Rogue, typically in my experience, which is what makes it harder for Priest/Warrior. Your warrior usually won't be able to kill their priest before the rogue can kill you. However, if he stays on the rogue, the priest is relatively free to burn/dispel. Also fear ward and the possibility that the priest is undead makes fearing more difficult.

Hi,
I'm a noobie to arena and I'm playing Shadow priest and warrior 33/28. Is this a vaible team? We did good at first going from 1350 to 1550, then we seem to start losing. Anyone got some advise on what the best strategy for us is?
EdahsApr 26, 2008 - 6:29 AM (HideShow)
Shadow Priest Warrior plays exactly like rogue/sp more or less...
SerashiApr 28, 2008 - 1:10 PM (HideShow)
What's the best way to survive against a MS warrior? They're really hard to kite since they've got PH up on you. Shield helps, but they burn through that in much less than 15 seconds, then I fall behind on healing with just PoM and Renew since MS is up. And, they pretty much can break any fear I throw down. Any suggestions?
GcwarriorApr 28, 2008 - 11:06 PM (HideShow)
Can I request a strat VS priest/hunter ? thanks
EbonicsMay 8, 2008 - 10:56 AM (HideShow)
SPriest/Warrior plays pretty much like SPriest/Rogue but with less CC making it a VERY difficult comp to play. It takes a lot of co-ordination and communication and a little luck. It's probably not the best comp to play if you're new to arenas.
I'd pick up a druid and press the "win" button and get glad.
BlarrgMay 10, 2008 - 8:03 PM (HideShow)
I've recently started playing this combo, and we've reached ~1750 without much problems. However any druid/hunter make is nearly impossible for us, I get drained and my partner can't really pressure either class a lot with all the CC.
DeewayzMay 11, 2008 - 4:43 PM (HideShow)
Druid/Hunter is a very difficult team for us. In fact, most teams with a hunter are challenging. What has seemed to work best for us recently is getting on the pet right away. The priest should try to be aggressive at the start to help kill the pet, he might have to eat some possibly avoidable drains, but thats alright. Once the pet is dead, both priest and warrior have to focus on interrupting revive pet, and the priest has to focus on mana burning the hunter so that he never can revive. Once the hunter is out of mana his damage should not be terribly hard to live through. And now it becomes a drinking game. Stop the hunter from drinking, and try to find opportunities for your priest to drink/burn any mana on the hunter or druid. If you can get some clutch dispels on traps/roots and have a little bit of luck, you should be able to burst one of them when the druid gets low on mana. Obviously there is a lot of room for error in this, and skilled hunter/druid teams will most likely dominate equally skilled priest/warrior teams. But dems the breaks.

For priest hunter, I haven't really encountered them too much to give an actual strat. However, I assume warrior getting on the pet then the priest would work best. Not too sure right now.
SpyxMay 12, 2008 - 11:33 AM (HideShow)
I'm currently playing warrior + disc priest (altho at low rating, and warrior needs a serious gear-up) but the most trouble we have, is with ele-sham and hunter combo's. The burst is so big, i can't heal trough it, anybody who could give me a few pointers?
BuubooMay 12, 2008 - 8:50 PM (HideShow)
Gotta play the LoS game... dispell when they Bloodlust, and prolly once your warrior gets better gear you will have an easier time healin through the damage. Also, fear whenever possible. If the warrior can get on the hunter that will pretty much cut one of their DPS sources greatly, if he is BM, LoS till it wears off
FormoseMay 15, 2008 - 12:44 PM (HideShow)
Just tried this combo yesterday on an old 1370 2v2. Went 48-6 straight to the 2k's.

Played a few Druid Hunters, beat them all (they were full S3 but I don't know if they were amazing or not). Usually the strat revolved around the positioning of the Priest - either keep the pet out of LoS of the Druid or be in fearing range of the Druid. If you can fear the druid, 5 sunders on the hunter + trinket + deathwish should gib him as long as you chain both fears.

If you can keep the pet out of LoS, get on the pet and score the kill or if the Hunter pulls it back try to get the Priest a drink. Generally we played it rather conservatively and mana burned the Hunter right off the bat. When he was oom we would do our best to keep him that way and simply keep him 5 sundered and fear the Druid (before the Hunter is oom it is way to mana intensive to run out in the open to fear).
ThatpriestJun 5, 2008 - 1:14 AM (HideShow)
Lol he is from akama. Now I see why he has had any sort of success. Akama is known for notoriously bad pvp, trust me I used to play on that server ; )
ChroniceJun 6, 2008 - 7:53 PM (HideShow)
I have a quick possible criticism regarding your spec. I noticed in your Shadow tree you have 5/5 Shadow Focus, but pvp hit caps at 5%. So, if I'm correct, I think 2/2 in improved Shadow Word: Pain would be better.
BaarlJun 9, 2008 - 9:05 PM (HideShow)
how to beat hunter and pala/dps pala ?
GutdrinkerJun 19, 2008 - 5:51 AM (HideShow)
Just started this combo and some of the teams u guys are having trouble wit hare easy so far.IM in the 1800's and no losses yet.Hunter pally drain hunter first onc ehunter is oom he has no dps once hes oom drain pally.Even if u cant drain pally what is a pally gonna do on a oom hunter.Don't really need to kill pet so much as the hunter and pally shoud both be oom before the priest is.To easy to stop hunter from drinking to with a priests dispell.Thats a guaranteed win if you ask me.

Rogue/rogue what i fond to do is get them to use trinkets on your fear then have priest fear right after game over from that point since overpower owns rogues.Demo shout piercing howl an thunderclap all should be used to.

Druid Hunter drain the kill hunters pet asap then drain the hunter.GG after hes oom just stop him from drinking.Druid will go oom healing him and from fear drains.Get druid to pop trinet with war fear and priest fear will own him.

Ele Sham and hunter, kill the sham and have the priest los hunter.Drains on this one dont even need to be used.If hunter is BM war and priest los til its over then be on sham and snare hunter to help priest with los.If hunter is on u his sham is gonna be thanking him for the loss.Pummel the lightning bolts over the chain lighting better chance to land pummel since its a shorter cooldown.Overall and easy team for this combo.
GutdrinkerJun 19, 2008 - 5:54 AM (HideShow)
Sorry meant to say since lightning bolt is a longer cast time pummel it over the shain lighting.

I used to agree that 5/5 shadow focus was a waste because the pvp hit cap is 3% from talents/gear. However, warlock testing has shown that classes with fear resistance (like us priests) or stun resistance have that resistance reduced by our +hit percentage. So, think about every point of +hit beyond 3% as insurance that you'll be able to fear that rogue/blackout that warrior/fear that priest/etc.

That being said, 2/2 Imp SWP is still my drug of choice, with 3/5 focus.
HawkstormJun 26, 2008 - 6:58 AM (HideShow)
just started playing this combo on the first day of s4, 1474 rating after 10 games isnt too bad this early on im guessing, problem is i just cant seem to get it right with this combo, in s2 i was 2.1k rated with a paladin in 2v2, i didnt play much in s3 due to exams so i have no personal rating gear, and now i cant find the right setup/partner to get to where i want to be.
any suggestions for a team in any bracket would be awesome mate ;)

Possibly one for the much dreaded R/R?
ChanterJul 11, 2008 - 11:32 AM (HideShow)
Just read some of the things listed, Druid + Dps is actually no problem if your warrior is decent geared, just get the dps kited by the priest and let the warrior go on the druid. The priest should dispell everything on the druid, so the druid should go oom farly fast. Also kite the dps by the warrior so he can throw in some harmstrings if possible. if the dps is a caster(cloth) then kill him first while the priest fears/MCs/MBs the druid.

You're an idiot, +hit only affects the hit cap, it has no affect on talent based resistance.

Looking for a strategy guide against rogue/druid... been facing a lot more of those lately once we got into the 1700's and its screwing us up badly
KuttenJul 21, 2008 - 6:09 PM (HideShow)
What we do vs rogue druid is trying to nuke the rogue or atleast making it a Warrior vs Rogue game, after cheat death nerf its quit possible to nuke rogue tho. With the warrior on the rogue, the priest should be able to rng away from the rogue, When the rogue have used his CDs it should be easy to keep it a warr vs rogue fight where u will win for sure. remember to dispell hots and u can kill rogue in a fear.
HellabadJul 22, 2008 - 6:49 AM (HideShow)
Having problems with rogue mage when they go on the warrior they pretty much destroy him up and keep me cc'd the whole time any advice? i save trinket for blind and try and detah polys but good mages countspell you and chain sheep.
KutteJul 22, 2008 - 1:34 PM (HideShow)
Well what we do is me kiteing the mage as good as i can, SW:D when he are about to get a sheep off, while my warrior will be in def stance and slowly killing the rogue while losing and spell reflecting the mage, sometimes u will be forced to use trinket on first sheep, if u do that u have to stay range to the rogue and SW:D him when he comes for the blind, also use your fear og mage every cd. But its a retarded setup and we are like 40/60 ratio.
KutteJul 22, 2008 - 1:36 PM (HideShow)
^ When i say kiteing the mage, i mean Losing the sheeps and counterspell
GrievisJul 23, 2008 - 11:17 PM (HideShow)
Anything to say about priest/hunter?

All I can say is no matter how long I pillar hump I can't avoid viper sting. Basically we get ridiculously outlasted every time. We attempt to kill the pet when we can, sometimes it works and we can win. Since playing defensively is usually a joke of a game I've started playing really offensive, and using my spike damage on the hunter whenever i can get a fear off on the priest. This has won us a few games but still a really hard comp. Any suggestions?
BuubooJul 24, 2008 - 5:57 AM (HideShow)
If your warrior has decent damage output and you can survive the hunter's damage, bum rush the priest, dispel his shields and let your warrior go crazy on him. Warrior should take him out before your taken out, and you wont have to worry about viper stings.

It works, the only time we've lost is when the hunter was like straight PvE'd out and he took out my priest really quick
YotubeJul 28, 2008 - 3:57 AM (HideShow)
it is amazing how many people think priest/warrior is subpar to warrior/shammy and druid/warrior. warrior/shammy = lol. druid warrior can be 50/50 sometimes. as for hunter/priest, we actually rush the hunter. I'll kill his pet and my priest mana drains the hunter completely. this makes it much easier on your priest. seriously warrior, if you have a good priest friend, give this combo a try. druid and shammy is definitely not the only way to go.
LandcrabJul 31, 2008 - 4:14 AM (HideShow)
You're going to have to call out alot of pillar switches against hunter+priest. It gets really nasty when they catch you with a frost trap, fear you, CC your warrior, and just go to town on your mana pool.

My suggestion is to make sure your warrior is never close to the hunter for too long. Intercept+hamstring the hunter when needed, but if the warrior is humping the hunter the entire match, your priest cannot heal him without getting viper stung. If they go offensive on your warrior, get all buffs off of the priest. Your warrior will be god-mode with a full rage bar and enrage, and will be "draining" the priest alot harder than a hunter can.

Don't try to out-mana this comp. Find an opening to gib someone and take it. It's the same strategy against alot of other drain comps as warrior+priest.
LandcrabJul 31, 2008 - 4:16 AM (HideShow)
Also, it is best to isolate the hunter from everyone else. Of course your priest will be humping a pillar the entire match, but try to split their team apart. Scatter+trap can ruin a good gib-opportunity.
WuddlypuffAug 5, 2008 - 7:54 PM (HideShow)
I have priest/warrior combo. 51/10/0 is my build. I don't do hardly any dmg. But my mana and health are 11k base. I have 450 resil. I find the toughest combos are 2 rogues, or shammy/lock.
NoughtAug 12, 2008 - 12:42 PM (HideShow)
Well, though I haven't had any very high rating experience, the Rogue/Rogue combo floats by with a pretty easy strategy most of the time:
Your priest should run to a place in the arena where she can put her back to the wall and have something to LOS close. Then, have your warrior start in Berserker stance and stand a few feet away from her. It helps if you try to make it seem like you are far away from her, but in fact close enough to intercept. 9/10 times one of the rogues will try and sap you, while the other one moves close to the Priest. Once you are sapped, wait till one pops out of stealth and use berserker rage followed by Blood Rage. Intercept to the rogues and get fear off as soon as possible. Your priest should trinket if she needs to, then have her use Psychic Scream (only if the rogues used trinket.) After this, your priest should be gaining a little bit of distance and possibly an LOS advantage from the rogues. The warrior should be on those rogues from the start, disarming one, possibly popping Sweeping Strikes if both rogues pick up the chase, and keeping both slowed as much as possible.
RogrogAug 12, 2008 - 9:19 PM (HideShow)
Me and my buddy tried this setup tonight and only made it past 1520 after ten matches. We lost 4 matches and all of them was to a rogue/druid setup. We felt rather annoyed after that and didn't seem to get the open gib chances on that team. One thing we learned was that the druid cannot be allowed to faceroll his cc rotation (3x cyclone, 3x root, feral charge, bash - start all over lolol) on the warrior - that leaves the priest at the mercy of the rogue.

We had a 15 minutes fight with a sunstrider druid gladiator and his friend, and we managed to get the rogue within execute range, but it was too easy for the druid to throw the heals that brought him outta there.

I guess the best bet vs rogue/druid is to focus the rogue and try to burn druid whenever possible.

Hi@Wars,

I haven't really played any of this season yet, been over seas. =)

Have been talking to a mate about trying a war/priest combo.

I have 2 questions.

1 is spec - Is losing 3/3 TM worth a build like 33/28/0? I've tried none TM builds before and well it just sucks losing all your rage when you want to spit out an OP.

Can any warriors that play without 3/3TM elaborate why its their spec of choice?

2 is weapon - I actually PvE more which is why I have a sword. CE hasn't dropped for me (yet) hopefully one day when we start Mt.H again, anyway do you think using a sword is a viable way to attempt to get to 2K+ rating, or I'm just gimping the team before we start?

I've seen some warriors with 2k+ rating with a druid/Pally in the early days of S2/S3, but none lately. Wondering if I should grab an S2 mace or something...

Thanks
Ber

Im playing this now with a friend and have reached 2101 atm.. ignore the score playing with various alts and people who dont know how to play have screwed that up..

In answer to your questions Bereave

1: im playing with TM atm and am finding it irreplacable as its more of a defensive capability being able to SR incoming cyclones and so on when your priest is low just to help pull the dps off him.. this isnt really a pure offensive combo and is more about picking your time to nuke and what have you..

2: mace is key here.. against say druid/rogue those mace stuns are like pure heaven for your priest... if you dont have it you simply wont have the CC to be able to do much.. and most combos try treat you as priest/rogue.. so being able to pull some1 off your priest really is the best thing possible..

I play this combo myself and it needs alot of practive to play, to get high rating with this setup your warrior have to be extremely skilled.
