Priest/Rogue

VS.

Druid/Warrior

This is probably one of the toughest combos for Priest/Rogue. It is also currently one of the more popular setups. A good thing to do is for the Rogue to put Wounding on his Off Hand so he can spam it back up with Shiv (It doesn't really matter if Warrior has Crippling. Besides, it will be applied eventually and you want the Warrior to run behind pillars faster so you can LOS). If the Druid spams dispels, good, he is wasting more Mana and risks opening himself up to Mana Burns. When the game starts, immediately use Shadow Word: Death\Mindblast\Smite(if you can) on the Warrior while he is stunned. You want that Druid to come out of stealth immediately. Let the Warrior Intercept you and bring him as far away as possible from the starting point.

When the Druid comes out be aggressive on him, Mana Burn him whenever he is in caster form, time stuns on the Warrior so your Priest can run freely to try and Fear him (good Druids will avoid Fear but at least you can make them run away or corner them). Drink whenever possible, LOS the Warrior as best as you can and always keep a Renew on your Rogue to heal Whirlwinds and Deep Wounds and possible times when the Warrior may switch DPS to him. Dispel HoTs whenever you think it is good to do so. For example, the Druid is Feared or Blinded and the Warrior has HoTs on, get rid of them ASAP and do as much damage as you can to him, also Dispel Abolish Poison and Regrowth\Rejuvenation, Lifebloom if it's ok to do so. If the Warrior puts on his Shield, drink up, chances are the Warrior is shielding because he is low on health so the Druid is healing him in combat, if the Warrior is on your Priest using a Shield and is healed up to full and is just buying time for the Druid to drink you must interrupt the Druid from doing this, which is why you always stay as close as possible and use Rank 1 Dots on him. Always use Mindblast on the Warrior whenever he is stunned, as well as a Shadow Word: Death.

Key things to remember: Be aggressive on the Druid, Fear\Mana Burn a lot, avoid the Warrior while he isn't stunned and when he is move back in, bring the Warrior out of LOS of the Druid to bring him to you, drink whenever possible. If you think switching to the Druid will kill him, do so, but be aware of the Warrior Hamstringing\Piercing Howl\Fearing your Rogue, a good Warrior will Intervene the Druid and help CC the Rogue so the Druid can run away, so I don't recommend focusing the Druid. This is a really tough fight, do not get mad if you lose, try different specs if you have to as well.

I have had no success trying to out-last the druid's mana pool. I find mana burning doesn't help at all against this team.

Our wins against warrior/druid have come from me being aggressive on the warrior and pulling him out of LoS so that we can draw the druid close enough for a fear-blind-sap combo.

Once evasion is up the warrior will turn to your rogue and destroy him and it turns into a healing match that you can't possibly win (plate > leather).
MicksterApr 4, 2008 - 8:53 AM (HideShow)
Yes, usually most of my warrior druid kills are from blowing up the warrior while the druid is cced, however some druid warrior will be really conservative and the blow up strat won't work.

mana burn also isn't always just used for mana burning, sometimes I use it just to make the druid run away or go bear form.

If you have good gear and a decent amount of resil Id suggest going a deep poison mutilate like myself warriors really go down fast in a ks with a cb mutilate renataki mutilate

Id also suggest to use expose armor before you drop this on them and rupture whenever you can
ChingwangApr 6, 2008 - 2:19 PM (HideShow)
At higher ratings I've really found that the only way to consistently beat a Druid/Warr team is if your rogue is Mutilate with all poisons talents. Most Druids have tunnel-vision about getting those poisons off, and will waste a LOT of their mana doing so. This spec also makes it hard for a Druid to drink, since the Warrior can take huge burst during a KS.
RoctrisApr 7, 2008 - 1:47 AM (HideShow)
Me and my friend rerolled our team today and interestingly enough were facing full s3 warrior / druids. We ended up going 1-4 against the team because we continuously tried to adapt new strategies to beat the team. In the end what seemed to end up working was bringing warrior down to 60ish percent life, fearing the druid while LoSing the warrior and trying to get a kidney shot on the warrior then me (the rogue ) sprinting to druid to blind him, shadowstepping back to warrior then the usual sap on druid then a nicely timed kidney shot on warrior as my priest MC's the druid and as MC is about to wear off me go and gouge the druid for an extra mind blast from priest and SH:D and hopefully by this time the warrior is dead. We screwed it up the first time but managed to get it down the second time.

I have fought a decent warrior/druid and all I see this warrior do is train my rogue so hard it pressures me to heal. He usually never touches me unless maybe a focus pummel or intercept. He sunders my rogue and just beats on him until I oom.

-.-
MicksterApr 18, 2008 - 8:43 PM (HideShow)
If they just go for the rogue then he has to do his best to keep him stunlocked while you be aggresive on the druid and help burst down the warrior with mindblast\sw:d, avoid cyclone if possible and always mana burn the druid. Although as I said a good warrior druid will usually win.
EraxisApr 21, 2008 - 11:23 AM (HideShow)
The one single tactic i've found to be working against war/druid is this:

Rogue goes on the warrior, I stay mounted, Druid pops due to healing the warrior, I run in and fear the druid ON MOUNT while the warrior is stunned. This leaves the druid to make the warrior drop if he doesnt trinket. By not trinketing the fear he'll probably NS and that gives an early advantage. If he does decide to trinket it it's blind sap time, and your fear will almost be ready again.

What have given us the most trouble is warriors who are exeptionally annoying(good) at sticking on me so i cant get any fears off after the first one.
ChingwangApr 24, 2008 - 10:37 AM (HideShow)
Meh, good Druid/Warr's will go for your Rogue, and unfortunately the only thing you can do then is try to heal, because the pressure being put on your Rogue is ridiculous. You can't be offensive, cause the Druid will Feral Charge any Mana Burns, and ninja Hamstrings prevent you from running to Fear the Druid.

Frankly, if the Druid/Warrior is even remotely good, it's just about impossible to win this. Annoying.
EraxisApr 27, 2008 - 6:02 PM (HideShow)
It's all about bringing the pressure to them before you get spamstringlocked.
ChingwangMay 4, 2008 - 12:52 AM (HideShow)
Yea, I get that...but any good Druid is going to unstealth at MAX range from you (the Priest). To be able to get over to the Druid and Fear him is hard enough, and it becomes next to impossible when the Warrior comes over for a ninja Hamstring on you.

If the Warrior knows how to play, he will help his Druid avoid Fears, really all he has to do is intercept to you and hamstring if he sees you running towards his Druid. He beats on you for a bit, then switches back to the Rogue. If you spend TOO much time trying to play hard on the Druid, your Rogue is going to get low. And once your Rogue gets low, your going to be controlled to all hell. At some point your only viable option for keeping your Rogue alive is a GHeal, and Cyclone, Feral Charge, Bash, Intercept, and Pummel can all keep you from doing that.

And above all? They can cleanse your Healing Debuff, AND their DPS class has Plate. Two BIG things against you.
GarfunkelMay 15, 2008 - 10:14 PM (HideShow)
you cant outlast a druids mana pool, the warrior will hamstring both you and your rogue and the druid will just run off and shadowmeld/drink, the warrior will put a shield on and u will never be able dps him enough to get the druid to come back out with no drink time, your best bet is to kite the warrior, get some drinks in if you can, wait until ms is down to heal if you can, get a good fear/blind on the druid after he trinkets, but with a good warrior spell reflecting and intercepting your priest while he's trying to dps him with the druid cc'd, its nearly impossible to kill them with a shs rogue...
CruelideaMay 27, 2008 - 9:16 AM (HideShow)
This is kind of a complicated deal...but what me and my rogue friend did was waited until fear and shadowstep was up then the rogue would tell me when hamstring was almost off we'd fear the warrior n nuke the drood, this would only last for so long of course cuz warrior would be right back but it helped add more dmg and used more mana, also MAKE SURE you get that innvervate dispelled and also...once u fear the drood make sure 2 mana burn him asap n normally a bad war/drood team will get owned, hope some of these tips help
also...rogues if ur having issues w/ a warrior try dueling warriors..u'll find your way of owning them, my rogue always opened up garrote n went 2 town on him made the drood pop out and i'd fear the drood n mana burn sometimes we'd both dps him down enough n it'd be funny as shit. but anyway goodluck:-)
SkotinosJun 6, 2008 - 9:07 PM (HideShow)
Beat everything up to 2k rating but never managed to beat this ..just /afk.
Good druid and warrior will never lose to u.They will keep u slowed hamstring and the druid will run away and drink. If anyone can give a correct solution to this im all ears.
MicksterJun 8, 2008 - 5:51 AM (HideShow)
Everytime the warrior chases you behind a pillar, so your kidney exactly for that, once he's behind the pillar mind blast\sw:d, force the druid to come to you and make the warrior pummel your mana burns so you can freely heal yourself in case of lucky RNG owning you. Use mindblast\shadowdeath everytime it is up, dispel the warrior of hits hots if there is more then 1\2 lifebloom, especially if abolish is up, you want to try to keep the warrior in 5 wounding.

Now of course a druid\warrior who knows how to counter you will probably win (for instance my alt druid who plays with a warrior, we have never even came close to losing to a priest\rogue all the way to 2300, even with crappy gear.)Just make sure to be really aggresive on the druid, make him come to a spot where you are almost in range of fear, time a stun on the warrior so you can trinket, get in range of the druid and fear him, even one full fear will be a huge advantage for you if the rogue is freely on the warrior.

If the warrior 1h\shield, put your rogue on him and try to drink for yourself also by having him stunlock warrior, you run over to the opposite pillar or wherever and get some drinks, unfortunately because warriors are stupid they can do alot of dps with 1h as well, just be sure to keep yourself and your rogue at a good amount of hp.
MicksterJun 8, 2008 - 5:51 AM (HideShow)
sorry, first sentence i meant save\use your kidney exactly for that.....
MaraiahJun 11, 2008 - 2:09 AM (HideShow)
When you really think about it this fight might not be so bad. There's several things you can try that can give you the win.

Plan A: Sap Warrior then have Rogue stunlock and DPS him hard. Once the Warrior reaches a certain %, get in range and start dispelling the Warrior. Hopefully he will intercept you now, at which point you'll have a few extra seconds to dps him and maybe even kill him since he's likely well out of range of the Druid.

Plan B: Warrior doesn't take the bait, dispel him and dps him until Druid pops, then have Rogue immediately blind Druid, then you get in position to fear when he trinkets. The time that he's blinded and feared you get more dps on the Warrior and another golden opportunity to kill him.

Plan C: Warrior still alive, he's gonna get healed. Mana Burn Druid and scare him into bear and if your lucky even scare him into running away. Don't bother with trying to dps the Druid, just do what you can to destroy his mana pool. Dispel Warrior to keep him in low health and keep Rogue from getting entangled. Dispel Druid only so that it's easy to dispel Nature's Swiftness/Innervate when he gets them, not to keep him from healing himself. During this time the Rogue is on the Warrior trying to enable you to fear/Mana Burn the Druid at will as well as bring the Warrior down. Whenever Druid goes caster try to fear and mana burn.

The Druid is losing mana trying to keep the Warrior alive and getting mana burned, when he is out of mana finish the Warrior and the fight is yours.
MaraiahJun 11, 2008 - 2:31 AM (HideShow)
Also forgot to mention watch the Warrior at all times that he doesn't have Abolish Poison on him, keep him off you at all costs. Save fears for the Druid but if you can get both feared that works too. Whenever poison is removed have the Rogue Kidney Shot him so he can have time re-apply the poison and buy you some separation between you and the Warrior.
NirvaJun 11, 2008 - 3:08 AM (HideShow)
I just thought of an idea and I wanna see what you guys think

This will work ideally on ruins and blades edge. When the fight starts as soon as you know it's druid/warrior, have your priest sit at the entrance in sight for them to see and don't move (will lure them to you) and have your rogue stealthed inside the starting area. Since controlling the druid is a big issue with LOS and all that, don't ever leave the starting area and only fight in there. This way, in order for the druid to heal he will have linger outside the entrance in order to get in sight of his partner where your priest can put pressure on the druid with burns and fears easily and also be in range for blind/sap while you take down the warrior. If they try to leave the starting area just stay where you are and drink/heal up and wait for them to come back since they have no ranged damage.

I can imagine the fight being slow, but you might as well since you will probably lose anyway out in the open.
NirvaJun 11, 2008 - 3:11 AM (HideShow)
The main idea is to pull off a perfect fear, blind, sap on the druid...giving you about 20 seconds to kill the warrior. The chances of this happening are good if you fight in a closed space where the druid is forced to get close to you.
MaimkillburnJun 12, 2008 - 8:52 AM (HideShow)
I'm at 1700 rating, and I've just found out about AJ website. Last week I've been quite successful beating druid warrior in 3 matches. I'm a disc priest, my rogue buddy is shadowstep maces. What we did was CC the warrior whichever way we could in the beginning, and blast the druid until he blows and all his cooldowns, i mana burn whenever he tried to abolish poison+travel form, or heal. I dispelled his Hots like a maniac too. The warrior was on my rogue most of the time. Eventually the Druid innervated and I dispelled it, druid went oom, and he died. Did this a bout 3 times successfully. I feared War when I knew they weren't immune to it, but they come back from fear fast, but for 2-4 seconds while feared is enough to heal your rogue. It worked for me at this rating. I'll try the strats here though.
NardiJun 13, 2008 - 10:49 PM (HideShow)
why use mind blast and shadow word: death when the warrior is stunned? why not whenever? does he take more damage when hes stunned?

FiretearJun 19, 2008 - 2:39 PM (HideShow)
I win 30% of fights agaisnt warr drood and evin those are not so good. It's usualy like this that warr gets to 60% at start then drood heals up and warr is never below 50% evin if i help dps. I am always agresive to drood but its hard since my rog needs healing. I won sometimes if rog makes switch for drood or if warr goes on me and i kite him and dot and he take dmg from my reflective shield.. sometimes it workes
MicksterJun 30, 2008 - 1:40 PM (HideShow)
I use mind blast shadow word death when warrior is stunned because I let the warrior intercept me, rogue SS kidney when warrior is LOS of druid, mind blast sw:d, druid is behind on healing now. If you just do it straight away, you may make the warrior get scared and go 1h+shield too early, the more the warrior is in a shield the less likelihood you'll be able to blow him up. This is from my experience anyways. Also when the warrior intercepts and you SS kidney when he's LOS, you can trinket his hamstring and "corner" the druid and try to get a fear on him.
DaysJul 3, 2008 - 9:58 AM (HideShow)
vs warrior/druid in the 2200 brackets ... save urself the time and leave.... they can beat you holding a sword and shield the entire match if they wanted...

Fight:

Warrior with sword shield on my Rogue
I run to druid
Warrior intercept/Hamstrings me
Druid runs
Warrior Returns to Rogue
Druid Drinks
Rogue SS to Druid
Druid Runs
Warrior 2h owns me.

Sorry but good luck beating that.

Playing with my rogue last season we played 71 games together (started at 1947) and we lost 17 total games. 2 due to disconnects,2 to a very good Lock Rogue team that used a strat we have never seen but were able to counter in later matches,1 to priest rogue,2 to Spriest Rogue and the other 10 games to druid warrior all above the 2200 mark.

Smart Warrior Druid > Priest Rogue
SupaJul 7, 2008 - 2:39 AM (HideShow)
If the warrior is smart, he will immediately recognize that the priest/rogue are trying the "blow him up and CC druid" strat. On goes the sheild, D stance, disarm, intervene and its foiled. Having the priest open with some damage is good, you do want the druid out of stealth immediately, but a priest going all out dps is a priest who will be OOM shortly.

When we have success, I (rogue) spend a lot of time on the druid, as much as possible. If I'm being kited hardcore, then I swap back to the warrior and do my best to avoid huge damage. Don't be afraid to use your trinket liberally, maybe on a hamstring/mace stun when the druid is JUST out of range. You can win the mana war if you force the druid to run and constantly change forms.

Druid/warrior sucks and they have the advantage no question, but the more pressure you can put on the druid the better your chances are.
FiretearJul 8, 2008 - 6:33 AM (HideShow)
I tryed that tactic... but always warr was so good so i could not fear the drood. i was waiting on the other side of the pillar that the drood was but when drood comes out warr charges me so i cant fear drood... if drood dont use his insignia there is no point in trying... i been despeling warrs HOTS but i just go oom. i won like 40% of the fights and those were mybe to noobs or we had luck.
LastbreÃ*thJul 25, 2008 - 1:04 PM (HideShow)
For me and mine priest is 2 hard to win this combo. Yes we have won but in Blade edges arena in the other 2 its imposible, expecially if ure facing tauren warrior he hits even if u hide behind pillars. Now we have won in Blade edge arena when the warrior is on the priest and im nuking the warrior then when druid comes in range of healing i turn on him so he goes away. So basicly priest w8ts for me to start on the warrior we start on ground lvl and the priest nukes the warrior at start till the druid comes then i switch on druid and if the warrior stays on the priest thats good coz ill nuke the druid he will go on ramp and run to the other side then i go back to the warrior same whole time and eventualy the warrior will die coz the druid will come too late for healing or will eat blind and fear. But if warrior goes on me that lost game.
JashlianJul 28, 2008 - 8:45 PM (HideShow)
I don't think I have even come close to beating this combo as Disc Priest/Rogue. I don't understand how I am suppose to play against this team. We have tried so many different strategies and nothing works. If I stay on the warrior he gets rage fed and destroys my priest while I eat Cyclones and Entangling Roots, if I stay on the druid it's nothing but Imp. hamstring, Mace Stun, Intercept Stun while the druid goes travel form and runs around. We have tried staying on the druid and switching to the warrior when the druid gets away but the warrior just throws on a shield and I can't get back to the druid because of Hamstring.
PoonyAug 4, 2008 - 5:53 PM (HideShow)
There is no beating this comp as been pointed out by Days. Here is how warrior druid can win 100% of the time.

1) Warrior pulls out a shield and goes on the priest asap. The reason for this is that some priest/rogue teams will try to burst you early on and having a shield out should make this impossible. The rogue will open up on the warrior because druid is stealthed, and should be unfoundable.

From here the rogue can try to make a switch to the druid or stay on the warrior.

A) If the rogue switches to the druid the warrior should intercept immediately and slap a hamstring on him, and go back to the priest with a 2 hander out.

B) If the rogue stays on the warrior OR ever goes back on the warrior then the warrior pulls out a shield and beats on the priest.

This is a slow and steady way that guarantees that druid/war will win. The result is that if rogue decides to go for the druid, then intercept + hamstring should make it very hard for rogue to stay on the druid and a good druid should pretty much always be able to get away from a hamstrung rogue. The priest in the meanwhile is having a warrior with a 2 hander beating on him and is spending a lot more mana than druid to keep himself alive. If the rogue goes on the warrior then druid is free to cyclone him and drink as much as he wants because the warrior has a shield out and is mitigating a tonn of the rogues damage and the priest can never drink because he can't get away from the warrior. So no matter what happens druid/warrior wins. If you see a flaw in my logic please point it out. I played priest/rogue to 2075 last season and I never saw a counter to this strat.
LastbreÃ*thAug 12, 2008 - 6:36 AM (HideShow)
I agree with "Days" comment. Since s4 warrior druid combo its too over powered against rogue druid. I had 1700rating and we have won only in blade edges arena. Since s4 started there are 2 tipes of plays on warrior druid combo.
1. Warrior puts hamstring and rend on rogue and he nukes priest most of the time, rogue east cyclon and roots.
2. Warrior is on Rogue whole time till priest is oom and druid is just walking around.

TwizteddeathAug 28, 2008 - 12:17 PM (HideShow)
I dont have a lot of high high rating experience, but being greatly outgeared by ez-mode druid/war teams I figure once our dps matches the warriors this strat should work even for the higher rated teams.

Basically, we've given up on the "blow the warrior up" strat - s3+ warriors will tear you up fed extra rage and you'll always be on the defensive even with consciously trying to get separation and rogue sitting like a fool trying to cripple stun the best he can in between getting cycloned etc.

We don't totally abandon it, but basically I stay mounted and kite the warrior around until A.) he switches to rogue or B.) the druid pops.

Once the druid pops i dismount and fear the druid and help dps the warrior.

After the initiall "warrior blow-up" then our rogue is constantly saving his kidneys and waiting for a ss kidney on the druid when he pops in caster to heal and I'm trying to los the warrior best I can trying to stay alive. once our rogue is on the druid i switch offensively to the druid getting any hots off the druid with dispel getting sw:p on etc. Have the rogue blind the warrior first time you jump on the druid. If the druid survives hes probably wasted swiftness and is hurting for mana after trying to heal the blown up warrior and himself.

Crappy druid's will go down after the first attack, or be at the point they cant recover with you dispelling their abolish poison and hots. Most will take the second attempt where they dont have their instants or the sufficient mana to heal. Most druids are caught by suprise and are used to just ez-moding and not having to really play which throws them off their game. Plus good warrior teams will switch to shield/1h if they are getting blown up and then its really game over for you - druids can't do that and get heals. Either way - win/lose its over quick and you move on to another team.

1.) druids are OP
2.) 2h warriors are OP vs cloth (475 resil and I still get blown up with 2k white dmg crits and 6k+ finishers)

your rogue wont win vs a plate, we've found getti
VondAug 31, 2008 - 3:29 PM (HideShow)
2 failures in your strat twiz. I cant stress it enough that a priest/SHS rogue cannot burst down a warrior with a shield on if he has 60%+ hp. Have the rogue blind the warrior?? ever herd of the thing called a pvp trinket (which he will save for that or a kidney if the priest has a SW:Pain on him) You wont mount over and fear the druid if the warrior intercepts, hamstring which gives the druid time to get into fear/bash. You wont even get close to killing the druid because both of you will have hamstring and the warrior will be raping you or your rogue with his 2-hander. Only way a priest/rogue will WTF rape druid/warrior is if the priest is shadow spec.

Lightchaos: Echo Isels; would really love some helpful tips from any1 here that can give me some ingame....me and my rogue friend faced 5 war/druid teams yesterday, and lost every single one, we tried almost everything suggested here, and nothing seems to work, (he's ss, and i'm disc ofcourse). we try outlasting, but damn druid and innervate with a kitty ninja sprin = me unable to dispell with war riding me hard.

being agressive just doesn't work, a good war always times his pummel/spell reflects.

and like some1 has said, evasion down = dead rogue against a plate war. all the expose armor/bleeds can never kill him with 5 stacks of wound poison and an op life bloom.

PLZ HELP!

Man, idk why ppl have problems. We sit on the druid hard. Keep up shields and mindblast fear smite the druid. Make him stay out of bear and your rogue will chew him. Most our matches don't last more then 30 secs. I stay mounted til my rogue finds the druid also. Run in and open up. GG.

-i get stunned a bunch if he's mace
-druid LOS mana burns and runs away / warrior keeps ham on me
-i start to go oom, so does druid
-druid goes stealth and drinks/intervates while the warrior is still beating on me

We've lost like 1 warrior druid on 2v2 it was first Good team so :P played 1-2 against them lost 2 in ruins of lordaeron and won 1 in nagrand arena. Also im mutilate, never would go for druid against that team, it just wont work.

well , the priest cant get a fear on the druid if the druid is good... and if he dont get a fear it will be very hard
StiilthzOct 6, 2008 - 11:40 AM (HideShow)
well basicly i know if u play like simple as possible druid notices that u will try to chase him, ofc he dont let u get close to fear him, u need to be smart to get him close. You both are hamstringed i know that also since i play the setup lmao.

You need to be tricky and bring warrior Los from druid heals while dpsing/dispeling him alot. Dont ks warrior before he have used his intercept. Also as mutilate i call out my kidney shots for priest ofc so he knows that when he assist me dpsing warrior.
Atleast we can get rly nice pressure on warrior that druid have really hard times to heal him.. it ends up like druid have to come close our priest and he get fear :P because if he dont come closer warrior is stunned on los warrior will die. Just try to make your own style for this setup.. its still possible to win em. We wuoldnt get this 2.2k with this setup if we cant beat that team :) sry typing alot try to understand what i wrote.
