| *horrible english warning, me ger xD* Me and my mage faced Rogue/Druid often this season and think they counter us. Chasing the Druid & controlling the Rogue seems to be the key, but most times the Rogue crippled me - Cloak of Shadows - crippled me again. When the Druid is not dead at this moment we loose. Maybe I'm to bad but i see no possibility to kill a druid with crippling poison on me. I think a better control on the Rogue is the key, but every match he cloaks -> Shadowsteps me... Tried to Blind him -> Insignia. Would be interesting if it's my fault or my mage should improve his control... | |

| Shadow Step + Cheat death in same tree = gg for mages. unless the druid has half a brain | |

| ive tried everything vs this make up, I am pretty sure this is the rogue/mage counter | |

| understandable about controlling the rogue... that is more the key with this mage/rogue combo. The rogue can dps a mage faster than a druid because they can easily cyclone heal themselves when needed... swiftmend is there friend for life right now. of course you should pressure the druid with the rogue so there is no chance the druid can act as a CC or dps'r.. then your screwed. What was not mentioned is the fact that the rogue should get into intervals of quickly blinding the rogue. if he pops the mage can kite and sheep with no problems. since this is a 2 dps team a fight can NOT last more than a minute anyways.. so remember to use your cooldowns.. cold snap right after you iceblock. At the end of the ice block have the rogue blind the other rogue... you NEED to force the rogue to use his trinket and you have GREAT enough CC rotation to use that. Stick close to each other so blind, frost nova, freeze, CoC, and meelee attacks are working great. If you can make the rogue bleed (garrote or rupture) you have taken away his vanish and a great stun lock oportunity for the mage. You have to pressure or cause CC rotation on the rogue before the fight actually start.. attacking the rogue first to waste his cooldowns then switch would be a start. but never leave the druid unattended... try using counterspell while you burst the rogue real fast first to prepare your elemental and another snare. | |

| My rogue partner and I have owned this set up by being very patient. I start off going solo against the rogue as I would vs a warror/druid team. My strategy is to IceBlock his opener and then come out of it very fast with a frost nova immediately. Then start running. If he catches you again blow your trinkets and dont forget to cold snap for another nova. At this point he should have to ShS and will usually kidney. Blink and pray your rogue has found the druid by now. If he has summon elemental and start controlling him with pet nova, ice lance, coc and novas. Your rogue should blind theirs followed by a sheep on him. Mage has to stay ontop of the druid because if he escapes you lose. | |

| This is a particulary odd setup. i ran against it in 1800s alot but did not see it one time in 1900s. along with the Hunter/druid combination we won 80% of the time (when we had tight cc). the key to our setup is a human rogue to go precept and find the druid and open it. then the hunter/ rogue either looks at me and trys to kill me where i kite it and do anything to stay alive and keep it ccd. mean while my rogue with all S3 weapons tears up druids because remove psn has a global cooldown and he kills them within secconds. (as the mage i thro a cone of cold his way along with a Blind dps and i get a shatter combo IMP counterspell on druid while rogue finishes druid. then its a simple 2 low health v 1 full health which is easy because stuns and kiting and ice block. hope this helps. DRUIDS DIE FIRST ALWAYS!!! | |

| Victus wouldnt it be better to just take the opener and blink instead of waisting ice block so early on? I think ice block would be better saved for Blind, or CloS and sprint. | |

| I feel it is very important to minimize the damage you take at the start against rogue teams. By iceblocking the opener you guarantee your rogue an extra ten seconds to find the druid. You also ensure yourself that you will be able to get off a second iceblock when your really need it, such as in the situations you mentioned. If you manage your CDs effectively (Cold Snap Especially) and your rogue helps you by putting a blind on their rogue at the right time you should be able to stay a step ahead of the rogue. Your only hope is to be able to help rogue out enough to get a kill on the druid before their rogue catches back up with you. All this is situational of course and depends on the skill/gear of the druid, but we have won against this setup on Blades Edge aka Druid FTW map. Everyone knows that against the VERY BEST druids you lose regardless until Blizzard does a bit more balancing. | |

| I wanted to add that smart rogues do not cheapshot a mage at the start. They garrote him and are guaranteed to get crippling poison on you during the two second silence. If you just try to take the opener and then blink, they ShS and kindney shot and you are stuck IceBlocking the kindey. During this time you have lost a good deal of health for no real reason. Your blink should be saved for kindey shot. Listen for the snapping sound and then blink, trinket to remove crippling, and run down the druid. Your rogue will be waiting there for you with a wonderful blind and since most rogues will trinket the first time they get caught in a nova they cant escape the blind should be full duration. That is your one and only window to kil the druid. | |
| Apr 14, 2008 - 8:18 PM (HideShow) | |
| If a rogue opens with garrote and crippling, instead of waisting ice block, couldnt you simple run towards the rogue and cast FN as soon as possible to make them waist a CD? Seams like this would be disorenting for the rogue, prevent shiv. and even an autoattack. (Just to clarify im in now way saying your wrong or trying to argue w/ you, Ive never pvped yet and my /played time is only 7 days. Im simply trying to read and learn all I can.) | |

| Assuming no perception - as always. You can't control a rogue like you can control the warrior in X/Druid. Forget about killing the druid with a shs rogue on your ass - not going to happen. Kill the rogue by going all out on him - he wears leather not plate. | |
| Apr 25, 2008 - 8:56 AM (HideShow) | |
| kill the rogue usually makes me lol except for when my druid gets blinded trinkets and gets silenced it is times like that when i blind the rogue pop my trinket for more health and use my racial and then gouge and Shs the mage burn the druid sheep the rogue ten times and you will do much better stack kidneyshot with a silence one after the other staying off the druid allows one of you to get cycloned bad idea | |
| May 4, 2008 - 4:04 AM (HideShow) | |
| When me and Houndus vsed Pronne and Garfunkel we usually killed Garfunkel first and relied on getting a pro counterspell/blind action happening. We ended up beating them 2/3 times with our strat. | |

| My rogue and I beat this makeup 75% of the time. He is Human so he can usually get a sap on the rogue and jump on the druid from stealth. If we can do this, the druid dies in 10-20 seconds, while I sheep the rogue twice (sap/sheep on same DR), and then blind their rogue. I use my nova's offensively(on druid) or defensively(on rogue) depending on circumstances(druid/rogue trinkets, positioning). If he can't find the druid before the rogue is almost out of sap, I come out of invis with my WE and shatter combo as my rogue cheap shots him. We can usually get the rogue to cheat death range in 5-10 seconds, as the druid pops out. He may get an NS off, then I imp CS him and try to finish off the rogue. If needed we can also blind the druid or sheep him for an extra GCD of dps to finish the rogue or wait for Cheat Death to disapate. Demise/Yul Laughing Skull 2272 2v2 | |

| if you use similar tactics as you do for warr/druid it wont work, i like demise's idea of split dpsing rogue, and while our rogue cc's & dps's their druid, then if we manage to get the rogue low enough blind the druid who will trinket, and then switch to druid and get the KS + shatter nuke combo while cc'ing the rogue if one of them isnt already dead | |
| Jun 25, 2008 - 6:27 AM (HideShow) | |
| and if your rogue isnt human? | |
| Jun 26, 2008 - 6:59 PM (HideShow) | |
| separating them seems to work pretty well but you gotta wait a while for the opposing rogue to burn his cooldown then split them apart, rogue on druid and mage on rogue. Pretty hard tho | |
| Jul 1, 2008 - 1:43 AM (HideShow) | |
| I found one think that works for me and my friend all the time. when i get in my first sheep on rogue my friend rogue vanish and cheap shot the druid at the same time i pop elemental and makes my Shatter Combo on druid when rogue kidneyshots him and after that a silence come and rogue makes prep and vanish + cheapshot + kidneyshot and druid is dead -> realy simple! but if the sheep would break we are screwed unless i get in a frostnova, resheep or rogue got time and range to cast blind. Another tactic is to let mage kite the rogue and mage just spam spellsteal the druids hots + buffs at the beginning and then when druid is out of hots + buffs rogue strikes druid with cheapshot gogue(regen energy) kidneyshot & vanish cheapshot, gouge and kidney shot and meanwhile mage frostnova, sheep, iceblock and just try to survive the rogue and silence druid + spellsteal the druid NS + Barkskin.. if you got ventrilo, ts or somthing this will go easy you practise some with some friends in nagrand arena/blades edge... | |

| My method for this matchup, works pretty well but requires extreme coordination, reaction, and a fast druid kill. Start with the Mage behind a pillar, in a way that it's hard for the druid to run over for a heal. Have their rogue open on the Mage Mage, do NOT use CDs to get out, have your rogue close by to immediately cheap shot the rogue. Just absorb the damage. Line up a Shatter combo and drop it on the rogue as your rogue does a full 5pt Kidney Shot on their rogue. Mage keep frostbolting the Rogue. The Druid will pop out or their rogue will die, immediately blind the Druid as he comes out and keep up damage on (the Druid should NS the moment they appear, unless RNG screwed up the shatter combo with no crits or a resist). Mage Imp CS the Druid the moment the Druid trinkets the Blind. Their rogue should trinket the Kidney and use something to try to stay alive. Precast a Poly near the end of KS to catch the rogue just after the trinket, get on the Druid. Full CC rotation on the Rogue (as the rogue blew a trinket on the KS). The Druid should be an easy kill because they should've blown Trinket and NS. If this goes wrong however Druid/Rogue is a very difficult comp to beat. One example is if they sap your rogue then get on the Mage. As a Mage I like to actually drink (even if I don't need it) to force a sap on me and my Rogue could possibly Cheap Shot their rogue (DO NOT SAP) and start the process above. Again this is a very hard comp to beat unless it's executed perfectly. | |
| Jul 25, 2008 - 12:06 PM (HideShow) | |
| Well we have the following tactic: I wait for the the rogue to start attacking my mage. Then I do a Cheap Shot an the rogue and instantly rupture him. I vanish and switch for the druid when he pops out and do a premed+cs+ks. When ks hits the druid I instantly stop attacking the druid. After the 6secs passed I restealth and sap the druid. Meanwhile my mage does a 1v1 against the rogue and tries to pull him away from the druid. The druid has to trinket sap otherwise his rogue dies. Then I blind him and the game should be over by then if not just resap. | |
| Aug 2, 2008 - 9:52 PM (HideShow) | |
| Whenever I face this setup, we wait for the rogue to open on me and my rogue cheap shots him los's and stealths, when the cs goes off I polymorph the rogue get far ranged and charge up a frostbolt forcing the druid to come out and we open on him with a cs ks/shatter. Of coarse the blind sap only if the rogue trinkets. We also always try to catch the rogue or druid out of stealth with blizzard or just my rogue sneaking around but if my rogue gets caught the fight is usually over. When the druid is DS however we try our hardest to cs on cyclones because thats what they usually open with. We sometimes try to burst down the rogue if we notice its a ds druid early and he's LoSing enough to where he comes out to cc one of us and hot up the rogue. DS druid is not a very hard setup to beat unless their rogue is human which always ruins a mage/rogues match. | |
| Aug 4, 2008 - 8:50 AM (HideShow) | |
| This setup usually requires a switch to go for a kill. If we cant find a druid (which isnt hard vs dreamstate) we just go for rogue rogue with early counterspell on the druid. Usually damage on rogue is enough for him to trinket kidney. Then its blind+double sheep. If we find a druid we usually kill him. BUT if rogue goes for our rogue we have to switch really. Blind druid after he trinkets kidney (all druids do or they are dead right there) and kill rogue. Its not rly a counter to mage rogue in my eyes. | |
| Aug 18, 2008 - 2:50 AM (HideShow) | |
| TBO this combo should never lose to a M/R if they are good. What you try do is pull out their druid by doing damage to the rogue when he gets on your mage if your not human. Then try kite/CC the rogue but any good rogue can stop that with vanish, CoS, kick, and if they feel pro run out and deadly throw. lol | |
| Aug 27, 2008 - 12:32 AM (HideShow) | |
| I just wanna say as one of the former high ranked rogue/druid in cyclone: I played with a human rogue (Kampotern) and thx to percetion we could in most cases eitehr sap the mage and kill the rogue or just do a sprint+perception when the mage goes invis.. usualy the rogue is down to 5% within 8 seconds..my rogue opens with bleeds and adds a vansih+cs to get threw the evasion. i do a starfire+moonfire+Insectswarm and throw a rejuvenation onmyself before i switch to nature dps (wrath) My rogue does not switch onto the mage until he is forced to, to avoid a sheep.. thoe vanish+cOs and a blind can easily delay that.. Now GL finding a counter to that.. and we get the opener on a rogue with the mage invis or saped 9/10 games Enwyn | |

| What if the druid is moonkin? We try to do like normal rogue/druid, CCing the rogue and bursting the boomkin, but the prob is, me (the rogue) hit like shit against a moonkin while the moonkin bursting down my mage, then he goes heal , the rogue unCC and they kill us... any strategy against that combo? | |
| Sep 20, 2008 - 2:42 PM (HideShow) | |
| At 1900 rating s4~ mainly their rogue starts out on my mage friend(since they can't find me), then i start to Lock the rogue with Cheap shot then kidney, after the kidney druid is up (95% of the times). Thats the time my mage Polyes the Rogue and we start to nuke The druid with the most we got, The druid aint got any HOTS on himself and like instant dies. Cheers eazy win if u do this right, as soon the rogue trinkets out of sheep Blind, then sap if neccecairy. | |
| Sep 21, 2008 - 6:58 PM (HideShow) | |
| Ok, is started running mage rogue, and have been farming this comp every game. When their rogue opens on my mage, i cheapshot/kidney, while my mage blinks away and starts unloading on the rogue. 90% of the time, the rogue will trinket the kidney, cloak and vanish, or else he dies, which we do end up gibing the rogues fairly often. I stay on the rogue, with my mage just kiting until my next kidney is up, but this time the rogue isn't at full. We just keep pounding on the rogue, lifebloom/rejuv arn't enough to keep the rogue alive, so the druid will have to go to cast a regrow. CS the regrow, rogue dies. This hasn't failed us yet. | |

| ever heard of cyclones? | |
| Sep 29, 2008 - 11:26 PM (HideShow) | |
| Open with a cheap shot on the rogue when he opens on the mage, kidney-shot him if he trinkets is loleasy mode from their vanish cheap shot him again before he pops cloak then you MUST cloak at that time EVERY GOOD DRUID will open with a cyclone on the rogue, what else do you need cloak for anyway. blind the druid or CS him then blind him, the druid will auto matically trinket if the druid is anywhere near bad he is not los'ing at all at that time evasion prep vanish when kidney - shot is back up switch to druid kill him before the kidney shot is over we farmed a 2150 ish team 7 times using this strat. It is very easy to communicate. | |
