Mage/Ret Paladin

VS.

Mage/Rogue

Put Blessing of Sacrifice on your Mage at the beginning. If you are Human, pop Perception and pretend to find the Rogue(you'll get Sapped anyways). Since almost all Rogues will be Shadowstep spec, don't bother getting on them, they'll dodge all your attacks anyways. Sheep the Rogue(if it is on the Rogue, prepare to repent to allow for a cast). Kill the Mage's pet ASAP to prevent Shatters, it should only takes 1-2 swings. You probably want to use your Bubble to heal you and your partner up, although it can be used to finish someone off as well.

Rushing in at the beginning can be an effective strategy because having the mage get sapped basically forces the paladin to bubble too early. Ideally, the mage should hang back a bit at the beginning but still attempt to get in combat as soon as possible.

Also, your mage should not hesitate to ice block very early to avoid a kidney shot + shatter. Same goes for bubble, but in this case, the mage can couunterspell the frostbolt.

If the rogue gets on the paladin, he should be very easily CCed. If the rogue gets on your mage, repenting him is usually the easiest way of landing sheeps on him.

Once the opposing mage blocks, if noone is on the paladin, freedom whoever the rogue is on and begin healing to try to entice the mage out of block or catch up on health.

The opposing mage should not be able to get a second block off due to hypothermia.

Wanted to start of by saying I'm prot by heart, so being pvp is like "yawn" for me, I run around in gladiator/veteran gear and s4 has just arrived.
For us this is the easiest combo, we've lost to it once and that was utter chaos from start to finish.

We start up by checking the other classes, finding it a mage/rogue combination the first thing we do is run in a circle (hoping to avoid the rogue) and charging on the mage while inmediately counterspelling. This disables the mages ability to do anything for the first few seconds such as iceblocking, casting, blinking or getting a pet out initially taking 40-70% dmg depending on the luck we have. After that its just finishing the job.

Good luck & love.

kaag , maybe you could help me with thi MAJOR problem that me and my partner are having with this situation. we usually ALWAYS sheep mage so that they cant get the shatter off on me which will cause major problems. so while the mage is sheeped we just go to town on the rogue but by the time we have the rogue done the rogue was on pally the whole time which obviously means there was plenty of damage done to my pally. we usually can get the rogue dead by the time the mage gets out of the cc (usually repet for the trinket, then sheep for the 9 secs) my health is just suddenly gone in 2 secs which im guessing is due to an unexpected shatter, causing me to be dead and a full hp mage playing against a 50% ret pally. PLZ PLZ PLZ help me with this problem and see if we can come up with a solution to this irritating problem.

Your health gone 'in 2 seconds' stems from repenting the mage into a polymorph(remember both these abilities share DR, so the repent lasts 5 seconds and the sheep will last 4). This will leave the mage in a spot to get a nice shatter off which is a bad thing.

Let the mage be your focus target, so once you know he is out of the sheep you'll see him casting a frostbolt which you can counter-spell, or negate the shatter with a BoF.
