General Information

Credentials: First things first - I've played this comp to 2200+ with my Hunter friend, whom I plan on returning to play with later in Season 5. As a Druid in Burning Crusade we got Gladiator in Season 3, so we've been playing together a good long time.

It should be noted that this team is basically what I call a Pressure Team, or a team that doesn't quite outlast teams, or drain them, or even burst them, but more accurately it utilizes all three of these tactics together to force a team to play out of their element, which is usually how we win our fights. Forcing a double DPS team to play defensively is one way we win our points, or by forcing a healer out of his protective area to heal his partner is another way to force a team out of its comfort zone.

Terminology: LoS - Line of Sight, or when you hide from an enemy to avoid Mana Burns, CC's, Damage, etc.

CC - Crowd Control, or the abilities you use to incapacitate a player or prevent them from performing a specific action, such as healing or casting. Examples would be Wyvern Sting, Polymorph, Blind, Sap, etc.

OOM - Out of Mana, or when you run completely out of mana.

General Tips: Never yell at your partner. Getting angry has never helped anyone do well in an arena. Ever. I know the phrase is overused, but constructive criticism will win games, rather than screaming out insults and pointing out flaws that way. After each match, my Hunter and I talk about how we could have executed the match better (even if we won).

Acquaint yourself with Line of Sight mechanics, they can help immensely for avoiding Mana Burns and Warlock Fears.

Learn what other classes' buffs look like. Memorize what Anti Magic Shell, Icebound Fortitude, Power Infusion, Enrage, etc look like. It's the easiest and best early-warning technique you have for when your opponents are lining up burst/CC/etc. Know your enemy.

Never let a Death Knight or his healer sit in the Anti Magic Zone. It will ruin your damage from spells and Explosive Shot. Instead, kite them out of the zone, and if they're not following, simply leave and drink back to full. The beauty of this comp is that it can easily reset and be just as effective as it was out of the gate.

Your Hunter should be your shield at all times. He needs to get used to always being between a Priest and you-that way he can stop Mana Burns or at least Wing Clip/Conc Shot so you have a chance at kiting. The one thing that stops our team dead in its tracks is a freecasting Priest/Warlock.

Use Divine Plea whenever it's up, even if you're at 90% mana. There may be a time when you need mana badly but can't afford to take the 20% healing debuff.

It's important to know when to target switch. Pressuring a healer out of LoS for a drain is currently easiest to do by just laying into the healer's DPS. This is especially true of Death Knight teams, which have few abilities to mitigate damage once Icebound Fortitude and Anti Magic Shell is down.

Lining up CC is the best way to go for a win, rather than just attempting to burn a target down through heals. Set up a rotation with your Hunter. Our rotation is Wyvern Sting, Scatter Shot, Hammer, Freezing Trap, Blood Elf Silence (obviously, not everyone has this). Find out what works for you. Generally we start with the Hunter's CC's first because I have to run to the healer in order to CC him.

The best form of defense you have is your partner. A Survival Hunter can single-handedly control two players simultaneously if he knows what he's doing, and Deflection means you can usually leave him alone with a DPS while you heal back up.

Don't be afraid to use cooldowns defensively, rather than offensively if you need them. The nice bit about this comp is that every 45 seconds you'll have cooldowns up and ready for another burn.

Use Blessing of Sacrifice to avoid CC's. It will break you out of Sap/Blind/Gouge/Polymorph/etc, and it can help you mitigate overall damage done when you're fighting a high-burst team. Used in conjunction with Beacon of Light, you can effectively use Sacrifice on your Hunter without any fear of dropping your own health too low, due to using Beacon on yourself and spam-healing your Hunter.

Against Double DPS teams, use your Hammer of Justice as soon as possible. Generally it will force a trinket, which means your Hunter can Wyvern for a full 10 seconds of 2v1.

For added damage, when your Hunter is kiting, have him Disengage over the Line of Fire in the Orgrimmar Arena. Most people will miss the jump, and end up Conflagrating themselves.

Use the Waterfall in the Dalaran Arena to your advantage. Sometimes, when you're getting hit by an opponent, you can use the knockback to separate you two, even if only for a few seconds.

Viper Sting Warlocks, always. Not only does it slow their damage, but it also forces them to drop their own health via Life Tap.

The best way to OOM a Resto Shaman is by DPS'ing his partner. Nothing makes a Shaman happier than sticking your pet on him and allowing him to Line of Sight. Water Shield alone will keep him at full mana. Just go balls out on DPS and he'll be forced to run through his mana much quicker than if you were draining it.

Use Frost Traps as opposed to Freezing Traps, unless you really need the added CC. Generally, what we have is enough to get the job done, and the Entrapment tics will drive Melee classes wild and save you a lot of mana in the process.

Glyph of Turn Undead is an absolute MUST. Fearing Warlock/Death Knight pets is excellent to begin with, but nothing ruins that strategy like getting school-silenced in the middle of the cast.

If you're specced 49/0/22, make sure you're Judging your Hunter's DPS target. Not only will it keep your Haste buff up and do some damage, but it will increase your Hunter's crit rate by 3% against him.

Be mindful of the pet. As Survival, you'll be hard-pressed to get a rez off unless your CC's on the other team are perfect. Make sure you're keeping it topped off, since most pets sit at around 13,000 hit points.

Raid Icons can help you and your partner find each other when you're split up. Don't leave your partner or the pet alone for too long, the amount of burst just one opponent can put out is surprisingly high, and you can be caught off guard.

Resilience gear saves the day. I usually play at around 550-600 resil, and my partner wears between 600-750 depending on the comps we're facing.

If anyone else has Questions or Comments, please don't hesitate to talk to me in-game or on this guide. I'll do my best to keep it updated with new strategies and refined tactics as they come along.

Difficulty Scale - 1(easy) 5(manageable) 8(hard) 10(counter comp)

Builds

Hunter

My Hunter is specced 0/16/55, picking up the ever-important Aimed Shot. It should be noted that this spec does NOT include the faster Pet Resurrect talent, so teams new to the comp should consider using a pet that has Heart of the Phoenix (Instant Rez). This is basically the only viable spec at the moment, since Beast Mastery doesn't yield enough CC to facilitate burns or avoid getting gibbed against double DPS teams. Marksman simply doesn't do the damage or CC that Survival can, so that leaves only one.

Paladin

As a Paladin, I found that more than one spec is viable. Considering the rise in Shaman/X 2v2 teams, I highly recommend speccing into Pure of Heart, which will help against Death Knight teams, which isn't needed so much, but will also halve the duration of Hex and Curse of Tongues, which are game breakers. For the most part I ran as cookie-cutter 53/18/0 for the 30 second cooldown on Hammer of Justice, which allowed us to attempt burns much easier. Additionally, the haste helped me keep myself up against DK's and Rogues while I lacked gear after just hitting 80. 49/0/22 is popular as well, but you need to be mindful of when you use Freedom to break a stun, since many rogues will wait for you to use it and then Vanish + hard switch to you while Freedom is on cooldown. Some Paladins even find Holy/Retribution to be the best spec, even going down so far as to pick up Repentance for added CC. See what spec works best for you.

Gear

Hunter

My Hunter wears mostly PvP gear, with PvE offpieces. He usually has between 650-750 resilience, but sticks to using PvE weapons and offpieces for added damage.

Paladin

For the Paladin, generally the 2-piece set bonus from Tier 7 helps with both healing and damage, but when it really shines is when it gives you an instant Flash of Light, which can be used to avoid Counterspells on your Holy Tree. I usually run with 550 resilience and 18.8k health, and about 16.4k mana. My healing sits at around 1935, and my crit is, depending on the spec, between 25%-33%.

This is a very competitive comp. I can see this team make up (if played right) getting people some really great ratings.
DeathlemonFeb 3, 2009 - 12:33 PM (HideShow)
op comp no need for strat
FlattieFeb 3, 2009 - 2:57 PM (HideShow)
It will get you high even if not played right:P very strong comp with way too much cc compared to their burst/drain/mana efficiency.

Enter arena.
Watch team leave.
Win points.

very helpful guide though, made me learn a lot about it! and easy to read
AvalyneFeb 4, 2009 - 5:45 PM (HideShow)
My hunter switched pets depending on what comps we were facing. If we were facing teams that enjoyed killing the hunter, we'd use a Crab. if we were facing teams that enjoyed gibbing the pet, we'd use a spider or a cat, depending on how well we were keeping it up. the instant second rez for cats is excellent, but the 40% extra healing taken for spiders was extremely helpful as well. it's a toss up.
StealthcoreFeb 4, 2009 - 11:35 PM (HideShow)
Would you consider rogue/dk at all a competitive setup against hunter/pally? I know we're far and in between but any insight at all would be helpful in trying to beat this setup =)
CavicaFeb 5, 2009 - 1:41 AM (HideShow)
you think you could write a quick guide on beating rshammy/dk?
AvalyneFeb 5, 2009 - 4:25 AM (HideShow)
Rogue/DK we haven't played more than once, but we have played Warrior/Rogue, and that was quite literally free points...with zero dispels, only one break on CC, and no way to stop being kited, Freedom and CC win us the match in a matter of seconds.

i honestly can't see us losing to rogue/DK at all.
AvalyneFeb 5, 2009 - 4:26 AM (HideShow)
As for RestoShaman/DK, play it just like pally/DK. Go for the DK, but be aware that you need to watch for Grounding and Poison Cleansing totem before you attempt to CC or stun.
AvalyneFeb 5, 2009 - 4:29 AM (HideShow)
More importantly, you need to realize that a paladin has much more longevity than a resto shaman, so outlasting this comp is your best bet. If you set your pet on the shaman, Water Shield will keep him at full mana. keep all DPS + pet on the DK and you'll run the shaman dry in 4-6 minutes. just beware of getting low and becoming the target of burst, as well as shocks to interrupt heals.
HaterzFeb 6, 2009 - 5:08 AM (HideShow)
What is your strategy against Ret pally/holy pally match up?
RiezelFeb 6, 2009 - 8:23 AM (HideShow)
Nuke the retri until he dies, keep pet on holy so he don't drinks.
Will be a long game, just look out for the retri trying to burst you/your healer with stun chains.
ZorastinFeb 6, 2009 - 2:19 PM (HideShow)
@Haterz
If you are seeing Ret pally / Holy pally, you are too low rated... That comp is hardly viable.
AvalyneFeb 6, 2009 - 2:24 PM (HideShow)
i hate to say it, but that's another comp we haven't faced. although double-defensive cleanses could give you problems, you'll be best off doing exactly what Riezel said. CC's as best you can on the Holy, nuke the Ret. you'll have to force two bubbles before you can burn, unless you can find a way to burst through a bubbled-paladin's heals. it's possible if he bubbles late or gets caught on a GCD, but it's rare in 2's. the secret is to not let your partner get low at all. Vindication will drop the ret's DPS target's hit points by 2600-3400, so you'll need to be sure you're compensating for that hit point drop.
DivineforceFeb 6, 2009 - 10:55 PM (HideShow)
Any comp with decent players can get 2200 and every pally / hunter / rogue that played those hardcore sub 1900's are the people topping our bgs in the 2600's
fought a gladiator holy pally / ret pally in the 2200 area ..

BTW @ ZORASTIN
TroxelFeb 7, 2009 - 7:12 PM (HideShow)
does this comp really need a strategy guide...?

answer: no
AnnihilateFeb 7, 2009 - 7:29 PM (HideShow)
What can you do vs hunter druid?
FelicFeb 7, 2009 - 8:54 PM (HideShow)
Easy setup is easy strategy ;) But I have to give credits for its well written form.

About the hpala/rpala you should not really be able to kill them. The Hpala will have kings + wisdom and divine plea. The retripaladin will have freedom for the entire fight, meaning he cant be slowed and the hunter will be unable to escape except with disengange like once each 30 seconds? I fail to see how a hunter can "nuke/kill" a retpaladin hugging him 95% of the time. Tho the hunters paladin with divine plea can probably heal it too with no purges on him. So 60 minute game if you ask me, but the advantage is just as much for the 2xpala team.
RiezelFeb 8, 2009 - 7:32 AM (HideShow)
disengage every 16 sec talented and glyhped. we got MS they don't just just keep pressure up and you will oom their hpally
RiezelFeb 8, 2009 - 7:43 AM (HideShow)
to Annihilate:
nuke the hunter fully out from beginning, open an wyvern on druid right from beginning and keep nuking hunter. pet on druid after wyvern and keep pressure up. when/if they get a CC chain up on pally, hunter use roar on himself and FD to mitigate dmg, also hump the other hunter. try use BoSac smart to remove a sting.
If realy needed trap the hunter(stuns on hunter whole game)

Using these guide lines should make it easy win atleast in the lower brackets. If/when hunter/druid rises again it might be hard tho if they go insanely aggressive with CC on pally locking him out.

Mind if you see one of those very aggressive teams you will need to do DPS switches to druid forcing him to run to los you, then go back to nuking hunter.
BladeiraFeb 8, 2009 - 4:54 PM (HideShow)
There is no needed tactic, hunter have too much cc now and paladin mana regen is just bug.

I would say it requies skill to play that combo but it no more need, with all that thinks hunter have now and paladine never oom, u cant be serious about drinking xD

OP comp dont need tactic really, but u get credit for trying to look like pro :)
LolgripFeb 9, 2009 - 8:13 AM (HideShow)
Haha Blad, u nabface, I completely agree, why make a guide for a completely retarded comp. TNT stun, entrapment, monkey speed, all silly RNG crap... And lock and load is just a complete design miss. Why not give warriors 3 Mortal Strikes with no rage cost and no cooldown after a succesfull intercept? sounds silly, well, that is exactly what hunters are atm.

Ill be honest, hunters have by far the most keybinds to use and HAD a very high skillcap. Blizz overtuned them into a scrub friendly faceroll class, such a shame. But hey I cant rlly blame you guys for abusing the OPness. gogo free ratings.
FyxFeb 9, 2009 - 8:45 PM (HideShow)
Out of curiosity, what would be the best way of handling Ret / Mage with this comp? Doesn't seem to be a common comp, but i know quite a few 2200+ on my server / BG
InzilFeb 10, 2009 - 11:31 AM (HideShow)
Survival holydin needs a tactic?
I'm Barack Obama then
AvalyneFeb 10, 2009 - 11:15 PM (HideShow)
Hunter/Druid is a team I have had some, but not a lot of, experience with. to be honest we sit on the hunter and CC-train the Druid, and when he's blown trinket/NS, we switch damage to him. Having a crab for the Pin ability helps if he's kiting your damage. Frost Trap + Freedom should give your hunter an excellent chance of keeping up with the druid when you're going for the kill. Even with 700ish resilience, a druid drops pretty quickly. we fought one 920 resil druid, and that took longer, but it's just a matter of lining up your Hammer after his trinket is down.
AvalyneFeb 10, 2009 - 11:18 PM (HideShow)
Against any double DPS Ret Paladin team, we force the bubble as soon as possible, since it's honestly the most solid way to mitigate the team's damage...plus it'll force him to stop and heal. when he comes back out, it's your call. CC'ing the other DPS will just lead to DIspels, so we generally CC the Paladin and gib whatever he's on. When he's bubbled and healing is when we normally switch, since he wont be DPS'ing and one person's damage is easily out-healable...plus if the paladin is forced to start healing, it's game over...there simply isn't enough damage left in the comp to kill you, unless you allow yourself to get CS'ed on a heal.
AvalyneFeb 10, 2009 - 11:19 PM (HideShow)

I was just wondering if the surv hunters are that amazing overpowered.
How is it possible that a sipmple rogue can get me down in some siple stunnlock.
Even if ill trinket in de KS they will just disarm me oke its 5 seconds but cant do anything then Scattershot him and try to get away but in that tim i alrdy got like 5 % HP

In my opinion every class has there survival ability's and there own dmg done on surtend classes and the first time the hunters has there glory and shine on arena and suddentlty we are OP :S

Disarm trap 20 yards range OMG flare does it works these days getting sapped without cloak of no skills and without a prevanish, trackhidden it will not show u fast enough

ArtomisFeb 12, 2009 - 12:46 AM (HideShow)
@Dumtie: You didn't receive any heals, and were not BoFed, or BoSed for the duration of the Rogues opener? I guess you roll with a pretty terrabad pally then! We are discussing the Hunter/Pally comp not Hunter/Rogue duels.

"hunters has there glory and shine on arena and suddentlty we are OP"
What exactly do you think being OP is?
CbitFeb 14, 2009 - 4:06 PM (HideShow)
@ Avalyne: Can you please ask your hunter to post his pet's talent specs? I'm curious which choices he made for his crab and cat/spider.
ZurolFeb 16, 2009 - 6:59 PM (HideShow)
Two questions, but first, amazing guide, great work!

a) you said early on in your guide your CC rotation, and it included frost trap, but then later in the guide you refer to "Use Frost Traps as opposed to Freezing Traps," and I got a little confused. If you could help clarify, that'd be great.

b) any way you could get your hunter to post a bit more of his perspective? I'd love to read it.

again - great job, thanks!
ZurolFeb 16, 2009 - 7:02 PM (HideShow)
oh gosh, I'm an idiot...don't see an edit button though...I meant to say early on in your CC rotation you say use freezing trap, then later say use frost > freezing...sorry, thanks!

We keep coming up against a resto druid/DK what is a good strat for them?
OcnabarFeb 16, 2009 - 10:21 PM (HideShow)
can you add some more strats for teams such as rogue druid, ret pally disc priest, and ret pally and mage. Not some of the best teams out there but they seem to land some very strong cc on me and im unable to help my pally. Especialy in ret pally mage
AntharaFeb 17, 2009 - 12:24 PM (HideShow)
Playing this setup in 2s, currently 2025 rated.
In general its a game of kiting over frosttraps, and draining the healer, or just go for a CC and burst on their dps normally.
Surviving a burst from a 2 dps setup is some hard job, and trying not to blow yer bubble unnessesary versus any team, as it makes ye the prime target for nukes.
Running 37,0,34 for repe and JoTW, love it, wont oom before any other mana class will.
Mage/rogue is the hardest 2s we've encountered so far.
AntharaFeb 17, 2009 - 12:26 PM (HideShow)
Some points I forgot.
Using Hand of Reckoning to get into combat at the starts, also its an easy way to take out totems, keep ppl in combat etc. Also with Vindication reducing stats of whatever target by 20%, reducing his/her hp, mana, stats etc, great for using vs other paladins with plea on etc.
LolaggroFeb 17, 2009 - 12:33 PM (HideShow)
thank you for such an incredibly detailed strategy avalyne.

this guide has left no immediate questions in my mind, all that's left after reading it is just getting the experience in coordination.

Just letting you all know I’ve begun work on a paladin/hunter 2v2 vid. Pally PoV, the vid will be 3.0.9 based and give out basic tips/strats to do with the combo. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am currently at 2050 in 2's, vid will be shot around 2150.
AvalyneFeb 17, 2009 - 6:10 PM (HideShow)
Hey, been away for awhile, but I'll do my best to answer any questions that have come up in my absence.

First, Resto Druid/Death Knight. It's important to start stacking a resilience set if you're facing teams that can burst you down easily. When i played Druid/Hunter in seasons 3 and 4, my hunter and i became extremely good at lining up CC and kiting techniques so i could drink, so now i'm honest-to-god doing 2's in 756 resilience. Full Hateful/Deadly with almsot completely 100% Resilience gems, and it's great for fighting DK's and double DPS. Plus the 4 piece set bonus is arguably better thant he Tier 7.5 2 piece set bonus.

Anyways. Against Druid/DK teams, we like to sit on the Death Knight to force the druid to blow cooldowns/NS/Trinket, and then we drag the DK into the open when he's at full health, and when the druid follows, we do a hard switch with a hammer and burst him down. It's important to not blow Wyvern off the bat, since good druids will at first start pre-buffing Abolish. After you get his cooldowns and trinket down, it's time to go for the kill. Druids die quickly to hunters, it's just a matter of hitting him with a Frost trap and Freedom'ing your hunter for the kill.

Disc Priest/Ret Paladin is touchy because mana burns can ruin your team, and ret paladins burst extremely hard. Drain the priest and do everything you can to avoid fears. Basically play it like a ROgue/PRiest that's unkiteable. YOu'll probably be using Line of Sight and Frost traps to help with kiting. Sit on the Pally to force the Priest on the defensive, and keep drains/pressure up throughout. Use CC's at the end to go for a burn, or if you want, switch CC's to paladin and try to hard-switch the Priest since he wont be able to dispel Wyvern.

Ret/Mage is a matter of making the paladin bubble as soon as possible. Use all your CC's on him to force an early bubble, and sit on the mage with damage to force an early ice block. Eventually, you will outlast this team. remember, if the mage is arcane, kite kite kite, bu
AvalyneFeb 17, 2009 - 6:12 PM (HideShow)
Against rogue/druid, we generally kite/DPS the rogue and force the druid to run OOM by keeping constant pressure up on his DPS.

But with every druid team, there's always, always a chance of a targetswitch after he's blown cooldowns for a burn. We also like to force him to blow a global cooldown on Abolish by Wyvern'ing the rogue right after we switch to him. one less global cooldown for the druid is one less HoT you've got to out-DPS. use hammer and help your Hunter with the gib, and you should easily out-mana the druid, if not kill him in the process.
ZyltnbowFeb 18, 2009 - 5:18 PM (HideShow)
You forgot the hardest setup to ever meet, difficulty 10, imo.
Shaman / Feral Druid.
Totally impossible, we meet the same setup over 9000 times in a row, dropped from our 1900 rating, so I simply left the team.
Can any1 help me with some tactics against this setup?
AvalyneFeb 18, 2009 - 6:06 PM (HideShow)
We've never fought Feral/Resto, but I'd assume it's like Feral/Holy, except that Shaman can be burned a bit easier and OOM'ed a bit easier. Either attempt hard switches after you save cooldowns and get the Shaman in the open, or try to OOM the shaman by going hard on the druid.
ValtsuFeb 19, 2009 - 12:48 AM (HideShow)
What really annoys me about this guide, is every fucking strat begins with "This fight is the same as.." etc. Enough. If i want to learn how to fight vs. sham+lock, I dont give a rats ass if its like shaman rogue. If you have to copy paste what u said from shaman rogue do it, i dont care, but hearing holy/fury is "same as" holy/dk, well it pisses me off. Please fix.
ValtsuFeb 19, 2009 - 12:59 AM (HideShow)
Request: Feral druid + disc priest.
MensprideFeb 19, 2009 - 3:51 AM (HideShow)
I've updated how to play Warrior/Holy pala against this comp in that section with a decent guide how to play versus it and don't mind the previous one because if you play arms in PvP then you might just reroll class/game/irl.
ChadiosFeb 19, 2009 - 7:33 AM (HideShow)
I just checked the guide real quickly, your rating of diffuculty is hilarious you rate priest/rogue as 8/10 difficulty and shaman/lock as 4/10. You're cracking me up :D

NosferatFeb 21, 2009 - 7:30 PM (HideShow)
im playing a dpriest/rogue and the strategy for this setup is based on luck and fast nukes. sap pala, nuke pet. that point pala wont trinket and hunter will try cc me(rogue)/ heal the pet. on the end of the sap priest comes and fears both. in that moment, if pet aint dead, prolly both will trinket. sprint, blind pala, nuke hunter. pala bubbles, i disarm hunter, vanish, garrote - ks pala, prep - vanish stunlock pala.
GladiatorlólFeb 22, 2009 - 12:28 AM (HideShow)
keep in mind this guy has played on some european BGs, and the playstyle there is a LOT different than the US. but honestly, change priest rogue to like 2/10, and shaman lock to 9/10
VãlhallaFeb 22, 2009 - 6:22 AM (HideShow)
I’ve been having a lot more success at 37/0/34 JoTW, Repent. Using 2set T7.5 with 540 resil. JotW means I can ignore mana burns, and the hunter has 2 extra talent points to play with since hunting party is now redundant. Repent + Crab pet means we can setup longer CC chains, w/o having to stun after Wyvern to avoid the DoT chewing up repent. We also now have no problem with shaman teams since we can separate them with such ease. Double DPS are slowly becoming less of an issue for me, Mages and Rogues have always been my personal bane. We are 2.1k now, went up 70 points in no time. Post me if u have any questions about the spec, or any tips for me =).
StompiFeb 22, 2009 - 7:14 PM (HideShow)
Why do you rate Shaman /Warrior as 6/10? There is no way the warrior can stay on your hunter. NO WAY.
RecklessFeb 22, 2009 - 11:33 PM (HideShow)
why do you need a strat to play this comp? you have to have downs to be below like 2200 when playing hunter/pally unless you have bad gear..then more like 1900 :D

this comp is full of skill. pally heals, hunter blows stuff up. Pally never goes oom and hutner never dies. No matter how many mistakes they make. Congrats on playing the cheesiest combo in wow to date.
CairnesFeb 24, 2009 - 2:29 PM (HideShow)
what are some macros that i should have as a hunter with a holy pally. i have never played 2s before. not sure what ones i should have
OdinsonFeb 25, 2009 - 4:46 AM (HideShow)
disc priest/lock
burn mana the warlock +hunt on him.
CC the priest +pet on him
pally dispells and avoid manaburn. need always full health coz of the fear
Eventually you'll be able to kill the warlock while the priest is CC and warlock oom or low hp

NilaniaMar 12, 2009 - 4:53 AM (HideShow)
To every player rolling the "Hey it doesn't take skill" shit and tossing it in the air. It does in fact, it takes the skill to know when not to one thing or the other. If you don't like that the guide is here, don't visit it and annoy those who may be reading and go "Doh, I coulda done that?" Not everyone and their mother know the ins and outs and it is a privilege that a rather decent player has taken the tiem to layout their own methods.

Personally I would love the hunter's PoV on this, far as pet control goes.

NilaniaMar 19, 2009 - 4:43 PM (HideShow)
Stunning, you're just QQing that rogues aren't #1 now shove off. Personally I've looked to the guide for a few items to point out to guildies and friends who have been discussing comps. I'm not here to troll, I'm here to discuss I leave the trolling to those who feed off nerdrage and cheetos.

Anyhow, Thanks for the guide redirecting a buddy here who's after a comp purely to face off with Shaman/X teams.

8/10 My ass. You are fucking terrible if you ever lose to Priest/Rogue
ShadrynMar 30, 2009 - 7:44 AM (HideShow)
I'd have to say as a SHunter/HPala, really hard comp we face is Disc Prist/Afflic Warlock. If we Nuke priest, Lock'll Chain fear us down and eventually kill us, if we go Lock, CC priest, its also hard, as they both have a AoE fear, its almost imposible to avoid both :) well i'm not sure if its just my lack of experience or what, but i do find it hard. maybe i'm not dispelling enough, and getting nuked by dots,

the next time we fight that comp again we'd probs go deffensive and mana drains till lock is empty while doing our best to avoid fears, and eventually when lock go almost OOM we burst him and land a chain CC on Prist.

However, it'd be greatly appreciated if you'd help me with my problem :-)
ShadrynMar 30, 2009 - 7:48 AM (HideShow)
Oh and one more thing, those who says things like ''8/10 My ASS. You are fucking terrible if you ever lose to Priest/Rogue'' and stuff like this comp dont need skill, you've probs got lots of past experience with this comp or just fail to this comp in arena. as this comp is full of skills, and to its not easy to perfect them in many ways
SubliteMar 30, 2009 - 5:31 PM (HideShow)

CalinApr 7, 2009 - 2:12 PM (HideShow)
"8/10 My ass. You are fucking terrible if you ever lose to Priest/Rogue"

Honestly you're just talking shit: 8/10 might be a bit too much but saying It's faceroll for pally/hunter is bullshit. Just play super aggressive and you'll get an early kill. Admittadely it's a lot easier for undead priests cause he can wotf the sting but honestly sap into full dps on hunter, cc pally, md bubble(it'll come off instantly as almost every pally will be 37/0/34). Once you get that hunter low with wound up and you're ccing/burning that pally it's pretty hard for that hunter to get topped off. Fuck you're double engi too gg....
CarraneApr 7, 2009 - 4:48 PM (HideShow)
outdated guide is outdated
PiedpiperApr 8, 2009 - 1:30 PM (HideShow)
Against a mirror I'd say try to get the opposing pet dead as early as possible. Don't open up on it, but when the time is right switch to it. Once it is dead, pillar hump and switch to whatever is convenient. Use your disengage to stay in LoS of the target. And if you're going on the Paladin then try to stay as close to the Hunter as possible to avoid explosive shot damage.Use scatter and wyv to reposition your trap under the target and lay into them.

Rofl. A lot of people take unbalanced setups as an excuse for their bad play. There ARE priests/rogues/mages over 2500 in 2v2. So it might be harder for them, but not 100% impossible. Think about what that means for you flamers :)
RazzeApr 14, 2009 - 8:10 PM (HideShow)

Great explanation mate thanks even tho its old patch helps alot. We are having a really hard time again Resto Druid / Warrior since the druid just wont go oom and the warrior is hard to nuke down, esspecially if they try to kill the pet i (pala) need to spam healing.

Also hard time again shadow priest / lock they both got alot of self healing and i am cleansing / fearing pet (with glyph) and hardly get a heal in between so i get behind on healing and lose. In try to avoid the fear but either the hunter is to far or they get to close to me.
