Frost Mage/Destruction Warlock

VS.

Paladin/Warlock

This match up will start to go bad if it persists for too long. Fortunately for you there are ways to end it early quite easily. The kill target will be the Warlock, and you will continue to crowd control the Paladin as you would any Paladin(healer)/x comp.

One key thing to nail (as the Warlock) is a Banish on the opposing Warlocks pet. One way to prevent yourself from getting Spell Locked on the Banish is to Shadowfury the pet/Warlock and Paladin if they are clumped. After the Shadowfury lands, Banish the pet, CC the healer and proceed to take out the Warlock. Your Mage partner can ease the fight by Spell Locking the Warlocks shadow tree.

Banishing the pet serves multiple purposes; first it will cause the opposing Warlock to take 20% increased damage due to the loss of Soul Link. Second it will prevent the opposing Warlock from using his pet to Devour magic debuffs (Seduce/Sheep) off his Paladin. Third, it prevents him from Spell Locking you and your partner's incoming burst.

Mage PoV:

You will want to put up your Mage Armor vs this comp obviously.

Start out with a Deep Freeze on the Warlock, spam Ice Lances into the Deep Freeze. Continue to use instant casts until your warlock gets a Banish off on the opposing Warlocks pet. You're then free to cast. You will want to use your Counterspell on the Warlocks shadow school to prevent as much damage and Fears as possible.

Spellsteal Freedom and Sacrifice just like any other Paladin/X comp, and be ready to Sheep the Paladin after Seduce.

I find a GOOD pally+lock fairly difficult to beat without some luck for a few reasons.

It is near impossible to get a CC chain going on the pally because of sac+los+turn evil spam on my Succubus. If we do get a good chain going however, we can win. But if not my succy just ends up fear spammed and dead due to dots. Banish is so so on the lock. (u need it early but at this point they have cds up) if u dont use it early he will just devour your ccs.

The tools are in their favour i find however maybe busing out a FH might prove to be a better strat? I need to practice it more.

I play Lock/Pally and we lost to a good Lock/Mage tonight. We were pillar humping them pretty well, felhunter dispelling sheep on my pally, and getting dots up so they tried to reset and while I tried to keep them in combat they finally got some CC's to stick on my Pally and blew me up. I'd really like to try out this combo sometime, looks fun.

if u were able to last more then like 1 minute you should have one.

As mage+lock you must beat pally+lock instantly (pretty much pre-bubble) or its a very difficult fight....does your Pally not use Turn Evil glyph?
