Frost Mage/Destruction Warlock

VS.

Mage/Retribution Paladin

Added 4/1/2009

This comp can get tricky to face at times, but you'll want to kill the Ret Paladin while controlling the Mage as best as possible here. Spell steal Hand of Freedom off the Ret, while kiting/nuking him down. Whoever he is on will want to focus on keeping their distance from him. Maintain your CC on the Mage, Fear the Ret Paladin if you get the chance. If they are focusing down the Mage use your Succubus to interrupt casts only on the Mage while LoS'ing his sheeps. If you really feel like they are going to train the Mage for the match, you can always Fel Domination a Felhunter out for dispels and silences. Just watch out for if they quickly switch to it and train the now petless Warlock.

Ideally he will have used Divine Shield when the two of you are still high on health. Do what you need to stop damage during the immunity.

Just started running Destro/frost, and at first these gave us a problem. My partner is in full 70 s4 gear (No joke, didn't gear up =/) but for these guys, we actually CC'ed the pally and then worked on the mage.
It toned down on their damage output due to the fact that the pally can judge/CS/DS/Melee for half the warlocks health easily while the mage can do little damage due to nether protection.
Can't really keep the mage nova'd but the warlock should be able to blow down the mage very quickly.

One problem with that is that you can really fall behind if he uses sacrifice on the Mage, as the Mage has a lot of buffs covering it. Even during that short time a Ret can pull out retarded amounts of burst. We've also found that Mages are quite able to survive double caster if they play it extremely defensively.

Hmm. Yes, mage can escape from two caster, but if the pally isn't CC it can dispel fear and poly from the mage. If u CC the pally and stun the mage (and sometimes silence it) it can die really qiuck.

If they're focusing down the Warlock however the Mage's damage isn't really the problem and you can also fear the Paladin while landing your CC on the Mage. You can't really CC a Mage in a quick double dps fight anyways, as they have many ways to break it + Mage Armour.
