Druid/Warrior

VS.

Shadow Priest/Warlock

This is one very tough matchup. You won't see it very often because so many other teams beat it, but man, this is pretty much your hardest team to fight. The amount of damage they can do combined with the incredible amount of CC/Silence on you makes your Warrior a giant bullseye. They generally will dot up your Warrior, then fear you, while they gib down your Warrior, and keep you out of the picture with a Silence+Spell lock to make sure you can't cast.

We found that the amount of burst they can do can take my Warrior from 100-0% in a Spell Lock/Silence/Fear/Deathcoil combo on you if they catch him in a two hander/zerker with a Blackout.

So, what we do is have the Warrior play very, very defensively, going shield at the slightest hint of a kill combo, and running like a girl whenever they so much as sneeze on him. Your goal here is to stay alive while the Priest runs himself oom, kiting and LOSing everything. Your Warrior doing his best to stay out of a really bad situation( Being caught in the open while you're feared far away), and you're doing your best trying to stay far away hotting up your Warrior, LOSing the fears and giving your Warrior an Intervene target if they catch you.

You need to be positioned next to a pillar as much as possible. If you see the Warlock or Priest run towards you, start running away so you can avoid the fears. If they Deathcoil + Fear, or manage to get a Fear off, your Warrior needs to immediately shield up + Intervene to you and start pillar kiting before they can land their huge gib combo.

Keep your Warrior on the Priest, he's much squishier, and most of his damage can be prevented by having your Warrior on him. He can still two hander/Mortal Strike in Defensive Stance, so consider having him in defensive the entire time while stance dancing to zerker rage. Every time they get a Fear off, or his health drops below 80%, your Warrior is putting on a shield and pillar kiting (make sure that the priest doesn't drink), until hes back to full and hotted, then going back on the Priest.

Outlast that Priest's mana, drink if you can manage to get a couple seconds, and Don't give them that window to insta-gib your Warrior down. Once the Priest starts getting low on mana, he'll Shadowfiend, and try to kite it, but be very careful about how far away you go, and where you go while kiting. You don't want to round a pillar and cut off your Warrior's Intervene path and give them a window to quickly burst him down.
Notes:
  • Watch the Priest and his dispels. A priest that sits there chain dispelling your warrior while the warlock nukes him is very dangerous, because even chain blooming lifeblooms is not enough to keep him alive. If you see that the priest is sitting there slamming dispel, have your warrior retreat until you get him back to full.

I'll Try to get Spell lock/Silence fast, then my Warrior kite the Spriest and WL out of LOS. Before he go to the Warlock ,to get the SPriest out of Form, he kill the Fel Hunter to let me Drink, Innervate or Heal without Pet dispell. If the Pet died, and the Spriest oof to heal the WL, Cyclone him and nuke the wl.
It isn't very easy, but its possible to do.

sry for my Bad english ;)

Thank god u almsot never see this combo, but yah just play extremely defensively and outlast the their cds, hena ur strat would not work becuz even if u r dishing out enough dmg for the priest 2 have 2 heal (keep in mind he can bubble every 15 sec), ur warr is gonna get lit the fuck up. Killing the pet is a waste of time in a 2 dps combo, and if u even get the time 2 drink, the team ur facing must be below 1500.

i played Lock/SP for 3 seasons up to 2200 every season, Dru/War is by far the easiest to drop. Play as Dru/War a lot on my alt this days and haven't faced this combo ever(thankfully) I have to say this strat is somewhat on but i really would reccomend staying on the warlock for damage but do your best to keep both snared. the warlocks controls are far more devastating than the priests, and if you force the priest into healing he won't be able to do damage.

you will die to SP/Lock if they in any way get a CC chain on you.

As said, you don't see it often and that is one factor that you loose alot, when you finnaly see them rush at you :P
I'v just started arena (1.6k rating ftw) and have only seen these 2 times!

So to the point; not playing against them alot will reduce the "skill" you got against them, since you haven't had alot of training.

Even with alot of training, this team is one of the hardest matchups for druid/war (and for that matter, any kind of double caster dps is troublesome). This MU was way more rampant s1 and s2, and what we did at that time was to get on the lock. As Magits said, priest control is less devastating, and you can avoid the melee fears far more easily while maintaining yourself out of fear range of the lock. This was easier with 36y cyclones to maintain a priest at range though :D

Hi all (sorry for my NOOBISH FRENGLISH)

few day before, at 2150+ we find a good strategy againt afflilock/sp.
warrior : focus warlock at 2h with DW + WW to kill pet at begin, pummel on fears, reflect when sp is casting mindblast if you dont reflect it, it'as bad for you :(
drood : cc priest during the warrior DW and do all you can .

you have to kill warlock as fast as possible.

GL and sorry again for my bad english ><

Sorry, but playing offensively versus a double dps team like that only works against bad teams.
VondSep 4, 2008 - 9:26 PM (HideShow)
quit the arena you wont beat any good sp/lock combo with all the fears and silences and there ability to kill warriors in 5 seconds

I've had a little success against this combo. One of the big difference makers is whether the lock is UA or sl/sl. Two insta-cast fears can be real rough on the druid. As the warrior, as soon as I see this combo I charge, hamstring both and immediately pop into defensive stance, makes the SR macro faster since you're already in defensive stance. Generally, one of them will be chasing the druid. As much as I love the strat to stay on the spriest, whichever one is chasing the druid is the one we go on. Basically, everything up there is correct. Play as defensive as possible. Once you get that priest in holy form trying to heal himself it's game over. Just keep them from that big gib and you can win.
