Druid/Warrior

VS.

Priest/Warlock

This fight is the easiest of the three main Warlock teams, but with the potential to go really bad really fast via Fear->Mana Burn + Mana Drain.

You need to be very careful about positioning on this map when you shift out of bear form(if you're in bear). If you shift out and get Feared, you can lose about 5-8k mana in about 5 seconds. So be very careful about your positioning when/if you shift to bear form.

Priests are very easy to go after and keep controlled, so unlike Druid/Lock and Pal/Lock where you attempt to kill the Pets/Lock, here you just go after the Priest and make him go OOM from taking damage. They really don't have a way to keep your Warrior off the Priest, so as long as you keep him alive it shouldn't take to long before you run the Priest OOM. The only real danger here is having your Warrior get low and then you get feared/spell-locked, and the Warlock/Priests nuking and finishing off your Warrior. So, make sure your Warrior is aware of his health and is quick to put up a shield/spell reflect/intervene if he sees himself get low, and you have to be aware if the Priest is dispelling your hots when you try to heal him to see whether you should rejuv/lifebloom or lifebloom spam.

The Warlock will be doing one of 2 different things, either DPSing your Warrior or draining you. If he is on you, just pillar hump him so he can't land the drains while your Warrior beats down on the Priest. Make sure to pop out and HoT whenever he gets to 60-80%, Cycloning the Warlock when you go to heal your Warrior so you have time to HoT him and get back to a pillar without getting drained. Eventually the Priest will go OOM (usually far before you), then you can just kill them for a win.

If he is nuking your Warrior, it is your job to stay as far away from the Warlock as possible while healing your Warrior. Stay at max range, because sometimes the Warlocks will do a nuke on your Warrior, then proceed to walk over to you and get a drain off because you're out in the open healing. So, keep a very, very close eye on the Warlock and watch when he trys to go towards you, and run away while hotting the Warrior. The Warlock will be feeding your Warrior rage when hes nuking, so while you're spending more mana to heal the Warrior, the Priest is using much more to keep himself alive. The match will be shorter, but you should still force their Priest OOM faster than you do, and then you get your victory.

Notes:
When the Shadowfiend pops, kite it around if it's on you. Tell your Warrior to go shield so he doesn't take to much damage so you don't have to worry about healing him, and kite till the thing dies. Every hit it lands on you prolongs the match, so do your best.

If you fall behind, they really have no way of killing you, because SL Locks do so little damage. So don't get discouraged if they get a huge mana lead on you via Mana Burns, because even when you're OOM you can live for a long time on the mp/5 ->Lifeblooms and can squeak out a win.

this team is impossible if the priest is disc. love to see any useful info for them.

Me and my warrior have been having troubles with discpriest.Lock alot. We got owned pretty hard last night in Blade's edge arena... The fight always starts off so hectic, both me and my warrior are taking heavy damage with the priest helping to dps. All the lock needs to do is catch me with deatchoil and im getting feared all over the place, spamming heals on both me and my warrior.... and their priest does notttt go oom before me i'll tell you that... I think this strat is out of date. I find discpriest/lock or rogue playstyle is alot different now. Any suggestions?
MannimalApr 4, 2008 - 2:04 PM (HideShow)
also... I beg to differ on the last comment "because even when you're OOM you can live for a long time on the mp/5"... there is no way I can heal both myself and my warrior fully dotted up with priest using shadow word pain + mindblasts whenever he can. Priest teams play alot more aggressive than they used to... I'm not sure what to do against this one.

Sit on the lock all day. Have warrior hamstring both and run around hotting til the lock is dead, toss cyclone on the pet. Kill pet if it's felhunter.

I have 3 70's i play dpriest/lock as the lock and drood/war as the druid. The way you destroy this comp every single time is to just have the war sit on the priest, the key however is the opening... the first 30 seconds will usually dictate the outcome of the match.. playing from a druid/war POV it should go as follows for the BE arena since mannimal was having problems on the map.

The fight will start as normal on top of the bridge (priest/lock will always stick to the Top since u can pillar hump to well at the bottom and the bridge is amazing with a timed MC) Have your war charge the lock and hamstring him then proceed to the priest. at this point you need to pop out and start your hot rotation, (At this time the priest will start to dispel your hots while the lock turns for the fear) your warrior should already be on the priest with hamstring up working on MS, if the lock is close enough have the warrior throw up a fear bomb for the sake of giving you a couple extra seconds of getting your hots up on him… The fear is inevitable, however the best situation you can make of it as the druid is to pop back into bear form when you see that the lock is about to get fear off, this prevents any mana draining done by the lock.
By the time you are out of fear you no longer have to worry about your hot’s being chained dispelled simply because the priest is doing everything he can to stay up. Here though is where the druid needs to shine. On the up part of the ramp’s leading to the bridge are 2 big wooden pole’s, these can be used for LOS’ing the locks fears (its hard because the poles are thin but a bit of practice and the lock wont be able to get a single fear off ) The lock is going to turn back to your warrior now to work on the gib, The only thing from here on out your druid needs to do is wait for the lock to turn back for the warrior at that moment your druid comes out and makes for the warrior hotting him up, heading back for the LOS point whenever the lock turns for him. After about a min or two th

Tough combo @ nicoteen, I think you underestimate the priest's ability to survive and to gib your warrior with the warlock's assistance in that small frame. Shields+instants can be enough initially.

My team is about 50% vs this team in the 2150-2250s.

This is what we did once we figure out a strat that gives us some chance:

1. Warrior hammy/sunders felhunter. Sunder optional but make it a definite kill, as long as you dont let the warlock go summon another pet while the sundered one is getting killed. If he tries you have to cyclone the lock and feral charge priest if he tries to mind control. Other then those 2 things stay at 35+ yards from warrior/felhunter.

2. Once the felhunter is dead, 1 of 2 things will happen.
Warlock summons felhunter and you have to sit on it hard again. Once it dies kill the warlock.
Warlock summons VW and you switch to the priest. At this point the VW is out and the druid can CC tons since the other team has no interrupts.. root the warlock as often as possible (add FF, MF, IS if you have it) so the priest wastes a ton of mana trying to dispel, or warlock is rooted out of fear range and you can 2v1 priest.

Most important things to look out for:

1. Never get spelllocked or you will fall far behind. If you do get spelllocked, have your warrior intervene and run distance or LOS so you dont get feared and can HOT up warrior fully.
2. Dont get feared
3. Dont feral charge mind control while casting, it wastes so much priest mana once its cast, that its worth the .5seconds of your warrior being MCd.
4. Always root warlock if he is on no DR or 1DR. When he is rooted as soon as he throws a dot you can walk in for a cyclone cause he will be on GCD.
5. if you were feared, and trinketed, and feared again somehow. get in melee of the priest so he refreshes fear DR with psychic scream.. they always burn it if ur close.

Im sure I missed some stuff but you can work around these few things.

U cant just go for the pet in the beginning, this will just allow the lock to free-cast on ur warr and get annihilated. Start by charging the lock and sunder him up, druid should come out early becuz every single good priest/lock team will play aggressively. If u can, hamstring the priest, but do not waste intercept unless necessary to prevent a fear. Druid just kite priest and keep warr topped off, once u get an opportunity, (priest is cycloned full duration and warr is topped off), switch to pet and kill it. If lock brings out a void, get back on lock, bringing out a void = less pressure on druid so its pretty smooth from here. By now u should be winning the mana war if u havent gotten feared + mana burned a lot. If u have, its ok, just work on the lock until pet is low and go for the pet kill again with cyclones on priest.

This is sad... Listen to the strat. Kill the priest. If you cant LOS fears by a lock who has to hardcast them you are horrible and should reroll. There is plenty of los in all maps to avoid fears especially with feral charge, bash and cyclone (be careful with cyclone cause a pet silence could =death for your warr)... Jus charge in on the priest (EVEN IF the lock is summoning a void, let him summon the void cause that = no silences) Nuke the priest, when the priest pops pain sup and shields and stuff have the druid keep the priest in combat with rank 1's and have the warr build rage off the lock or lock pet(if its a felhunter)... A defensive priest lock team will not do enough damage to outlast your Mana Pool so jus take it easy and los EVERYTHING. if the lock deathcoil's then fears you, trink it (fear is the only DR this team has) and get back to humpin that pillar

although my rating arnt that great, i have found that having 5/5 in tranquillity to be very useful for this setup. basically the last time we went up against this team we lost, but we were so close we could touch the victory. i was using a form of the swarm build 13or11/11/XX. keep insect swarm up on the priest and the lock and the locks pet, dispell costs the priest more mana than insect swarm spell. try to root the lock behind a pillar and kill the pet asap... my warrior knew what was going on at the time and has previous experience with these teams. basically you want to use your travel form to the advantage and keep the lock away from the priest (LoS) and wear the priests mana down. it may have been a disc/shad priest, i am not 100% sure. just make sure the priest never drinks and run away / root the shadowfiend.
VondSep 4, 2008 - 5:14 PM (HideShow)
What i realize is when i charge out, the priest/warlock can get me real low. If you survive, kill the felhunter. If he Fel Doms out a vw you win cause you wont have the fear of getting spell locked and getting your buffs purged + you can help kill the VW by insect sworm+moonfire and dragging it behind a pillar. Once it gets around 60% have your warrior save up rage and intercept over and finish the job. If both pets are dead and he used fel domination collect your points cause a warlock is a joke without his pet.

Oh and 1 more thing, If its shadowpriest/ sl warlock quit lol... really. combined with 2 fears 2 silences and 2 rows of dots they can get your warrior from 100%-0 in one 7 second fear on the druid. The warrior cant kill a shadow priest or a sl/sl warlock before they kill him.
