Druid/Warrior

VS.

Hunter/Priest

This fight can seem tough at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's quite an easy match.

The key to this fight is bear form, and the fact that when in bear, you cannot be burned nor drained, the Hunter can't do much damage to a bear or a plate-wearing Warrior, and bear form can eat the freezing traps allowing your Warrior to stay on the Hunter nonstop.

Most people really love to go for the pet, and while it is a tempting target, it's often fruitless as most Hunters can revive it in 4 seconds, and it allows the hunter to lay a beat down on you from far away.

Your Warrior can be on the Hunter, and you need to support him on the target. We usually have the Warrior on the Hunter, while I chase after the Priest to prevent drinks. Every so often, you need to Feral Charge the Hunter, because when he gets low/trap comes off cooldown he will try to do his Scatter->Freezing Trap. When he does, you need to get right on top of it and eat it so that way your Warrior can stay on the Hunter. So every so often switch back to the Hunter so you can be ready for his Freezing Traps. Remember, since the pet is on you, the poison will break the freezing trap immediately. If the Hunter switches to a Frost Trap, then Feral Charge and Hamstring is usually more than enough that you two can stay with him.

The Priest will be constantly trying to drink, so do your best to stay on him in Bear form while preventing the Hunter's Freezing Traps. When the Hunter is at around full health, you should be trying to be on the Priest and attacking him/keeping him in combat, and when the Hunter gets low(50-60%), Feral Charge back to the Hunter so you can try to eat the freezing trap.

Whenever you need to heal, get behind a pillar, then pop out. If the Priest is close to you, your Warrior can Intercept him to stop him from getting to you. HoT yourself, then HoT your Warrior, and pop right back in to bear form.

The Priest will eventually go OOM quickly, because he's having to heal his Hunter almost nonstop. If you want, you can switch to the Priest when he gets low, because an OOM Priest will drop pretty fast, and it will stop him from drinking. Be careful though, if you're both on the Priest it means the Hunter can nuke you because you're no longer in his melee range, and now he can shoot you.

Notes:
  • Viper Sting will not affect you while in bear form. So, if the hunter lands a sting on you, you can quickly shift to bear to stop the drain. However, the shift itself is mana intensive, so keep that in mind.
  • Switching to the pet often is a good way to drain the priest's mana. Keeping up a 6-8k HP, zero resilience pet is very mana intensive, but it allows the Hunter to nuke your Warrior. So target switch often to keep the Priest guessing and burning mana.

This worked in the 1600 and 1700 bracket, but once my partner and I got to 1800, we hit scare beast spam. I'm am literally spending half the fight feared which allows the hunter to cc my warrior at will and the priest to drink whenever he wants to. Dodging the scare beast ends in my being psychic screamed and mana drained to zero, any suggestions?

Have your warrior pummel scare beast.

Scare beast is now instant, making this a bit tougher of a fight. If you keep pressure on the hunter, this strategy keeps its integrity. NS, Swiftmend and a few Lifeblooms when priest fear is on CD (30second interval) you'll be able to outlast them easily.

scarebeast is not instant it was reverted

We have warr on priest 2 completely prevent mana burns or fears, we havent faced this combo above 2k, so im not sure how much harder this fight gets, but around 1900 the hunter would chase me around and keep viper sting on me and trapping the war whenever he found the time to, just stick in bear and LOS scare beast, heal up after viper sting expires and is on cd. Ur warr will be dpsing the priest WAY harder than the hunter to u. Most priests cant outheal a warr's dps and priest should go down after a few mins, if the priest does manage to live longer he will eventually go oom and u will still win.
Notes:
1. Killing pet is worthless, it has a ton of armor and ur warr will be wasting his time, even if u do manage to get it down, the hunter will be dpsing ur warr pretty hard, and u will be eating drains/burns while healing ur warr, and the hunter can resummon a pet in 4 seconds.
2. Nature's Grasp pet whenever its up and travel form around pillars until out of combat, this will allow u to get 2-3 ticks off b4 the pet reaches back to u. When running around pillars make sure u stay out of range from pet or this wont work.
3. Taunts do work on pets, if ur warr is running by, have him taunt (challenging roar and mocking blow work) the pet. Usually the hunter will notice, but its worth a shot ;)

2-3 ticks is nothing now, pet is always on me not allowing me to drink, very hard to stay in bear as much as your saying esp if the priest is helping dps,

killing pet does help provided that the hunter is beast master. BM pets do most of a hunters damage so if it is dead then its pretty much game over. just so long as the druid avoids mana burns and viper stings witch they can do simply by being in bear or cat

A Hunterpet doesn't doe much DPS. Also as BM Hunter! The BM Hunter's Pet does More DMG than the one of a MM but it isnt much. An as an Disc/Hunter Setup most Hunters go MM because of the imp. Vipersting.
A Warrior can Attack the Hunter an use Sweeping Strikes direktly so both, the Hunter and the Pet take lot of DMG so the Priest needs to Heal much and can't do DMG. So the Hunter doesn't much in Melee Range. So the Priest loose a lot of Mana befor the Druid comes out.The Warri can Spam WW if he has the Rage to make some more DMG on Hunter and Pet.
Fokus the Pet making it. The Priest will lose Mana but the Druid too because the Hunter can do more DPS. But its ok to make Harmstring on it if its near so the Druid has more Time for drinking a bit.

I've played on several Hunter/Priest teams, and have always been lucky with good Hunters. A lot of Druid/Warrior teams go after our pet first, and we simply resurrect it, so you're right there.

You're strategy is about right against crappy Hunters but honestly, a good Hunter will have their way with you, and usually get Scare Beast off when they want to. This is especially true if the Priest knows when and where to fear. As a Priest, I often run up to the Druid, wait for him to start healing, then fear and mana burn spam. Or if I really need the Hunter to get a scare beast off, I'll fear the Druid and then he'll Scare Beast the Druid. He usually Feign Death before he uses Scare Beast, it really helps. A good Hunter will ice trap the Warrior when he wants to and the Druid won't be able to eat it.

With the pet and the Priest keeping a watchful eye on the Druid it will be hard to drink.

We rarely lose to Druid/melee. Druid/Shaman is the only Druid combo that gives us a hard time.
