Dreamstate Druid/Rogue

VS.

Priest/Warlock

There are different ways of playing against this setup, but sticking to the Priest seems the easiest to me. Basically the Rogue tries to prevent the CC, while zerging the Priest. The Druid should always stay near a pillar to prevent incoming Fears. In this match-up your Druid should concentrate on Cycloning the Warlock while staying defensive. When the Priest's health drops low, your Druid can start doing some damage.

Tips

  • Prevent Fears by pillar kiting
  • Prevent Priest Fear by staying at least 20 yards away.
  • Prevent Mana Burns (this should be easy with your Rogue sticking on the Priest and you pillar kiting)

Not trying to be an ass, but how do you kill the priest when the warlock is free to fear you? atleast I found it easier to stick to the warlock untill the priest is oom, with some smart pet switches, to make the priest waste some mana.

cloak/vanish fears

We had 4 matches against WL/Priest today. Those were all quite long matches, but we won in the end. We did some switching between WL/priest.

From our experience, when we switched on the priest he went oom much faster than when we focussed the warlock.
However, if you don`t get into dangerous situations, this should be ok^^

Start off with a Sap on the Priest. Nuke the Pet, when Priest comes out of the Sap Cyclone him if you do not manage to kill the pet in that time try to stick on the warlock again and look out for an opening so you can kill the pet.
Once the 1st pet is down there are 2 possibilities:
Warlock summons VW:
Stick on the Warlock, safe Clos 'til 40% while the Druid trys to Kite the VW around a pillar and kill the VW. That should be pretty easy as the VW has no resistance against nature.

Warlock summons FH:
stick on the warlock until your druid is out of fearrange. then fulldps the pet while your Druid cyclones the Priest. Clos / Vanish / Blind fears and when the FH dies a second time just stick on the Warlock. Expose armor is your friend.

The key to win here is to put as much pressure on the warlock / warlock pet so the priest cannot burn your druid.
After the second petkill your main focus should be the warlock and preventing him from casting a 3rd pet.

I never lost against this matchup with this strategy.

(sry 4 my bad english :/ )

Yeah, if you dont get caught in fear->mana burn, this is a really easy fight since you got awsome mana regen. Just watch where priest are. It really helps to shiv the priest whenever possible, since he wont be able to fear or chase you at all for the time.

I like deathkinght's tactic is sounds a sure win because afther sap if priest use trinket when he is cycloned u blind him which gives you a good time to kill lock's pet and maybe even lock
CydialJul 14, 2008 - 12:52 PM (HideShow)
Deathknight is right, this comp will win by killing either, but staying on the priest means a MUCH longer match. Camp the lock and switch to his pet when you see fit.

On the opener we try to kill the warlocks pet, sap priest, cylclone wl, cyclone priest, if it didnt work swtich to priest cause of the free dr on wl, then just swtich between priest and warlock, depending on cyclone dr, should make it easier to get the priest oom, by switching and forcing the priest to use expensive spells.
If you are in a good situation, u can try to kill the warlocks pet.

U also can try to sap the priest, burst wl, blind priest, an force him to use insignia, 2mins later the wl should be killable because of Blind/sap, during this 1,5 mins blind cd, use the rotation between priest and wl depending on cyclone dr.

restokin can kill a felhunter alone...costs a bit more mana buts its posiblle, and worth doing it, we start like: sap the priest, cyclone warlock and both nuking the pet if its a felhunter, if not sap the priest, cyclone vw and nuke the lock without sl he takes a ton of dmg, cyclone the priest or blind him after the sap and he uses insignia, cyclone warlock cause you get feared-> priest will heal the warlock :P then rogue sticks to the warlock, druid tries to kill pets...and one more tip, how to kill a pet fast: druid is behind a pillar trying to kil him droping his hp a bit...you kite the pet so the rogue can shs it and then go back behind the pillar, you have enough time to kill the pet....and one more thing...you can try in ruins...if your rogue can hold the warlock near one room the druid runs with the pet to the other room the and the lock is still far enough the pets disapears...

Speaking from the other side of this fight, DS/Rogue should easily beat priest/lock. Staying on the lock may take longer but it eliminates much of the chance that your druid will end up in a fear chain. Tbh, the only way we ever beat restokin/rogue is if we get enough burns on the druid to force him to drink and burst the rogue while his cloak is down.

We've played this setup so many times, and it is an anti setup, due to the fact that the druid has no swiftmend but moonkin instead, and moonkin isn't a viable option against this setup, due to the fact you'll just get straight drained/burned. However, the best way we've found to beat this setup is just ccing the warlock whilst i stick to a pillar, and nuking the priest. If this combo manages to get all their dots on both the druid and the rogue, the druid has to expose himself to heal, making him susceptible to fears. I think switching would be a good option here, just to confuse the setup, but communication is needed.

Ethrwen.......you have absolutely NO idea what you're talkin about...........Excess is completely right, you HAVE to stay on the lock to prevent any fears from occuring, and by staying on the lock, the priest will burn all his mana healing him.........The pet will get low because the priest wont have time to heal it because the lock is taking a large amount of damage

STICK ON THE WARLOCK........dont listen to anyone else......we have never lost to any warlock/priest with this strat.......kick the fears, kick shadow school spells......this is the easiest team to get for rogue/druid

Mana burn literally does nothing but drain the priests own mana due to dreamstates amazing mana regen, and with the rogue on the lock the lock has little to no time to reach the druid........just stay on the lock, it is the ONLY way.

OmoneraSep 17, 2008 - 12:48 PM (HideShow)
by the time my druid goes OOM, the priest goes OOM, and my druid still has innervate up, which means GG, we literally have beaten brutal warlock/priests without ANY trouble at all, the only way you could lose is if you use cloak too early for a stupid reason, and the lock and priest DPS you at the same time while your druid is CC'd in some way lol, its just a battle of luck for them
OmoneraSep 17, 2008 - 12:49 PM (HideShow)
The match takes longer, but staying on the lock is the safer and smarter thing to do.......
EthrwenSep 19, 2008 - 9:58 AM (HideShow)
Well since trying that tac it's seemed to have worked in all fairness. Cheers for the help, even if it was extended rudely.
GrimgoreSep 23, 2008 - 3:39 AM (HideShow)
yepp.. another tactic that is completely wrong by the guy who wrote the guide.. seriously what are you thinking? Stay on priest? LoL? what is to keep your rogue from being spam feared by the lock? Change tactics post to: " If you want a sure way of loosing stick on the priest as this will allow the lock to spam fear both of you into oblivion while maximising his dps"
