Arcane Mage/Rogue

VS.

Priest/Rogue

With me being nightelf and having a slight stealthing advantage, this comp is fairly easy most of the time. It's all about finding the opposing rogue, and letting your mage duel the priest in the meantime. If you don't find the opposing rogue (Or he doesn't find you) instantly, you should apply a sap to the priest and have your mage start spellstealing him. If by some miracle you happen to land all your spell steals (it never happens, honestly) and have the priest stripped of all his buffs, it might be a good idea to surprise him by starting with a Cheap Shot, Mutilate, Eviscerate, Vanish and let your mage nuke him low or sometimes even dead. At this point you must have achieved at least a trinket or a Pain Suppression. Take into account that this RARELY works though. 90% of the matches one rogue finds the other, and the match begins from there. There are two scenarios once again.
A) You find the opposing rogue
B) He finds you

A) At this point have your mage spell steal the rogue a couple of times, with a hint of luck you might be able to dispel a shield or fortitude. Start off with a cheap shot (NOT garrote, never ever) and have your mage PoM-Polymorph the priest and keep an eye on the rogue's trinket-readiness. If he does not wish to trinket, continue with a full duration Kidney Shot and tear his arse to oblivion. Game won. If, however he trinkets the stun, you will probably get blinded (Always have evasion up after every cheap shot to win 25% of the matches instantly). Do not hassle, because this is nothing to worry about. Usually you will get opened on with either a garrote or a cheapshot, it doesn't matter much. Insta-trinket any incoming stun and blind the opposing rogue, make sure your mage does NOT dps him at this point. After the full duration blind, try to land a sap on the rogue in order to gain access to full-duration stuns for the second opener. If the priest tries to holynova around the rogue, have your mage polymorph him in between global cooldowns. The rogue will NEVER survive a full duration stun with your Mage blowing off cooldowns. And I mean NEVAR!

B) This is usually pretty messy, but still beatable. Your mage should start spamming AoE always when you get sapped in order to find the nearby rogue. Never trinket anything other than the opposing rogue's Cheap Shot opener, and always insta-blind him right after trinketing. Your goal here is of course to get the other rogue to blow his trinket, and if he catches you in stun without your trinket, there is no surviving that. I doubt that any of the high rated rogues will trinket the initial blind, and therefore after opening with cheap shot, you must instantly blow all your cooldowns and counterspell the priest in order to get the kill, simply because you have already used your trinket and are vulnerable to any incoming stuns / fears. If you fail this initial burst, you might have a chance at resetting the match, but I wouldn't count on it.

"I doubt that any of the high rated rogues will trinket the initial blind."

No offense, but seriously you must be in the worst BG, I wouldn't listen to any of these strats.

Actually a lot of rogues don't trinket the blind - if they trinket the blind then you can just put them in a full stun (Which is bad)

I do when I play my rogue, except I kinda vanish and dot up the enemy rogue after that :D

Well actually no good rogue/priest will trinket a blind if a mage/rogue's rogue has blown his trinket. They have such a huge advantage that they don't want to risk it.

Jolah,

If the opposing rogue trinkets the blind you already have vanished, and able to trigger finger spam cheashot ( which you should be able to ) most the time you will always get a cheap shot( 90% of the time bugs through their vanish)

sooo you expect them to eat a 9 second blind into a re-sap/sheep while his priest dies? As soon as you switch off him he HAS to trinket then vanish.

When you CS or KS the opposing rogue and he trinkets, instantly Vanish. He will either try to blind you, which you can hopefully Vanish immune if he gets it off, or will try to vanish himself, which you can counter by spamming sap on him. (He will get sapped because vanish instantly removes you from combat and he is still targeted.)

Again, if the other rogue trinkets your blind, instantly vanish, repeat.

Just adding to the first post I made, the third thing that might happen is the priest holy nova spamming and rogue FoK spamming to get you out of stealth. Re-opening as soon as you vanish will reduce the chance of error, and having the priest sheeped and a tomb on the rogue will completely avoid this, then open on the rogue and win in ~2 sec of burst.

Just mage Spellsteal and open on priest, if he gets low the rogue ambush on him and mutilate, if the other rogue opens on mage youre rogue needs to get fast on him and stunlock him to dead and kill rogue.

you don't kill the priest, rogues rape rogues like they're paper.

Stopped reading after the first line. Find ways to reliably beat other comps cause landing a sap is just something that you cant count on. Id rather rely on gouging the opposing rogue´s trinket then this...

everyone knows that every game is open to random change. its called a guide because it GUIDES YOU not because its what you do 100% of the time jesus christ all the people who commented on this have no brain.

Why would you ONLY trinket the cheap shot?? You don't wait out for the kidney?? Hopefully your mage can help in some way until then and you're not gonna get kidneyed right after a trinket. If you blow trink that early, you're bound to get CCed to hell and then your mage can just get dispel-spammed and killed.
I think it's also important to note that your mage shouldn't tunnel the priest until you have the other rogue under control. Even if the priest is ready to spam dispels on his rogue, those polymorphs or slows are going to keep them both using GCDs.
Also, your mage needs to be especially on top of LoSing if you get jumped because the priest can play extremely offensively at that point.
