Arcane Mage/Rogue

VS.

Druid/Warrior

Thank God for the return of the almighty Druid / Warrior! This is, once again, the comp you want to grind your easy points off. Usually these teams don't rush straight at you, instead they prefer waiting behind a pillar. One approach we favor is "fake"-sapping the warrior, and letting your mage mount off and start running towards the warrior. 100% of the time this will cause the warrior to break the sap with Berserker's Rage. At this point, immediately retreat and wait for the buff to wear off. As soon as the warrior can be re-sapped, sap him for the 5 seconds it only lasts. This time is enough for your mage to reapproach and unmount for the initial burst. As a rogue, start with a Cheap Shot, continue with a full duration Kidney Shot. Then we have two scenarios.
A) The Warrior trinkets
B) The Warrior does not trinket

A) If the warrior trinkets, wait for ~5 seconds (Waiting for the Sap/Sheep DR to wear off) or so and then blind him and instantly (wait for possible bleed effects ofc) vanish. After the blind, apply a full duration sheep on the warrior, and start again with a full duration Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot and have your mage blow all the cooldowns at this point. If by some miracle the Warrior does not kiss the ground at this point, use Dismantle just after the Kidney Shot wears off, preventing the use of Shield Wall. By now he should be dead.

B) If the warrior does not trinket, use Dismantle (explained above) and pray for big crits. If big crits don't happen, you have to reset the match and start all over. If you know that the warrior is not going to trinket the first stun, it might be a good idea to apply your Mage's cooldowns in the first stun, surprising them a bit and possibly landing a kill. Remember to always have Tricks of the Trade applied to your mage before these burst sequences.

Here is a better strat: Despite what lots of people think, arcane mages also have a frost nova just like teh frost mage, open with a frost nova on the warrior and let it go the full duration before sheeping. do 3 sheeps and do another nova. break los until sheep is back off diminishing after the 2nd nova breaks and repeat with another set of sheeps and nova. do this until the druid is either oom or dead. Rilly simple! if the warrior ever trinkets blind him. The only way you will lose is if the warrior trinkets, and instantly starts blade storming. If your rogue can safely avoid the bladestorms and blind after it is over you win.

The one problem I forgot about with this is gnomes warriors. They are a pain. You should nova and get ready to sheep as they use escape artist. Watch out for shield reflect!!! I believe Escape artist is a 1min45sec CD so your next few novas should be no prob.

We have found it much more reliable to focus on the warrior instead of the druid, because focusing on a druid even 2on1 is a pain in the ass. The amount of healing the druid can do on the warrior can not compare on the DPS we put out.

hmm, okay. Still I find the druid much easier to kill because of shield reflect, bladestorm, shield wall w/ full hots on. If you open up with a pom arcane blast into 3 stacks and a barrage and silence with AP the druid should die. If the druid escapes and heals to full by trinketing the Kidney you can always blind and go for a quick drop on an unhotted warrior stuck in a sheep. 4second silence after blind gives you 12 seconds of unhotted dps on the warrior. attempt to disarm to avoid the shield wall, if it doesn't work you can always switch back to the druid and cc the warrior again. this time the druid wont trinket Kidney, but your cooldowns will be down.

What about the warrior who will not blow his Beserker Rage until the rogue shows himself? I don't see the mage putting enough pressure on the druid to make the warrior break without the rogue opening.

@ Jolah: perfect strat, thats the way I play though a simple addition to all rogues out there:

USE BLIND BEFORE THE WARRI CAN BLADESTORM!!!

Lost thousands of matches when my rogue died without using blind....don't be afraid, be brave and blind!

So strange tactics, just simply rush in, pom sheep the warrior, fake rushing for druid, pop all cds while turning to the warrior, he will be dead inside cheap shot - dismantle for sure. l2faceroll

While the "fake rush" strat may be very effective every one in a while, it won't always work against teams who have played against you before. The warrior can trinket KS and shield wall/shield reflect and dodge/parry disarms (even if you are behind him latency can mess you up). If you try a blind and switch the druid will be able to trinket KS without worrying about blind and all your cooldowns will already be wasted on the warrior opener. Going for the druid wins more consistently I've found or you could even try switching between the two strategies.

So druids on your bg dont prehot?

You didn't mention what to do in case the Warrior hits Trinket > Bladestorm which makes him immune to all CC's while putting the rogue in very real danger (unless he very quickly hits evasion/feint/dismantle).
As an arcane mage, your survival against warriors is greatly reduced and your rogue MUST not get repeatedly bled > pressured into dying. Peels from the mage are necessary if you're helping your rogue to reset properly after Bladestorm.

As mage/rogue it's so much easier to CC the warrior. I'm MP spec on my rogue and we would much rather get on the druid who can't be polymorphed and can get out of snares. Leave the warrior in a frost nova and then take him from poly to poly then a blind/sap. If a rogue and a mage can't blow CDs and kill the druid, you guys need to work on your boost a little better. If the Druid has full hots on himself and is keeping on top of that, save blind and wait for him to break form for a cyclone. If you can get a blind on the druid then, you can go back and sap him afterwards. If the warrior plays really defensively, I would just go for as many switches as possible to waste the druids hots.
