News Post from WildeHilde

Minpojke: my guild Yaspresents is doing an online 3v3 tournament on EU Arena Pass, but we have a problem with latest hotfix patch not being live there (30% battle fatigue and fire blast glyph, warrior 3 stack tfb). Is it somehow possible to hotfix it before next weekend (18th January) when were going to have the finals?

Official Blizzard Quote:

We have recently performed a restart for the Arena Pass realm and the hotfixes in question should now be active. Good luck to everyone for your arena matches! :)

It's like on Christmas, when my sister used to get a present, then turn to my parents and say 'THAT'S IT??!!! I ASKED FOR THE PINK CONVERTIBLE FOR BARBIE TOO, I NEED EVERYTHING ON MY LIST'

Love the grown up responses people have.

Be happy that they did something instead, they've not done ANYTHING before. It's a start.

It just shows the stupidity of the WoW community which is why the game is still going. People trash talk WoW for years and if one day something little happens that they agree with WoW suddenly becomes the best game in the world and Blizzard the most amazing developers.

"stupidity of the wow community" wow this isnt ww2 with hitler trying to keep our nazi subs going.. its a game, people play it because there is some entertainment to it, but that doesnt mean there is shit to complain about, but just because the game is unbalanced doesnt mean you still cant use it to pass some time or just mess around with irl friends.

Really cool to hear.

Something has definitely changed in Blizzard's way to deal w/ community.

So many tweets answered daily, some tweets are directly reflected (even copy pasted) in PTR upcoming patch notes. (The chakra thing I mentionned).

I hope it comes more from a "we want to make our game better" than from a "subscribers are droppin', pls react fast" thing, but anyway, they finally understood some constructive people were playing their game and giving good advices.

Gj Blizzard, I really mean it.

Regarding Yas' tournament, hope this is gonna be as good the one last summer. If I may give you some advice from a viewer PoV :
- Answering questions on Twitter is a really good thing. Interaction w/ viewers is always good. Maybe you should have someone (advisor) to filter the Twitter thread and select good questions instead having to hear both commentators saying "well, I won't read that, I won't read this, OK this one is making me laugh but I can't say it, ..."
- I'd like if you could remove the Twitch chat, but maybe it's not possible. So many haters, so many trolls. I threw up like 10 times last week-end
- the point of view is sometimes good, sometimes weird, hiding behind a pillar where nothing happens and we're missing the interesting things happening. Idk if you could, for example, stand right behind a player sometimes and move the camera around to make the viewer  feel like he's having the player's PoV. Just a thought, maybe a bad idea. I think maybe cameramen focus too much on "traveling scenes" between PoVs. It's not like cinema it's like sport. Transitions in sport are brutal, instant so that the viewer gets focused (awaken) whereas in cinema it's as smooth as possible (except for some kind of movies). I sometimes feel like watching discovery channel w/ helicopter traveling scenes instead of watching ESPN (to make a comparison)
- interviews maybe ? To fill in the gap more smoothly ? I think the main goal to achieve there is the viewer saying "What ? The next game is already up ? Wtf I didn't even have the time for a smoke in between games". At the moment it still feels like the shoutcasters are struggling. Less than before, but still.
- Conrad is fun and enthousiastic. That's cool and entertaining. During the game he's really shoutcasting very well, but sometimes I feel like as soon as the game finishes, clown-Conrad is back a bit too early :P especially when someone got globalled. Give yourself 30s to analyze then start joking :P
- Zunniyaki did pretty well too. Maybe he could prepare interviews between games ? Or both commentators could debate w/ him after the game finishes. When you watch Starcraft tournaments, other commentators analyze the replay, when you watch a football game, a different consultant analyzes the game during the half time. That's pretty cool cuz you got a different PoV from what you've heard during the game.

ArenaLive :
- there's a bug with Divine Star (the spell is weird and is triggered many times I think, it makes the same thing in game with the shadowform icon blinking when the divine star is traveling)
- still misses something to track dispel CD, idk how this can be achieved.
- i'd like to have something indicating DRs (but more when I watch replays), but it would maybe look messy cuz the UI already shows plenty of stuff.

My 2 cents,
Keep up the gob job, can't wait for the finals.

All in all good job by Blizzard. Lets see how this will influence the upcoming matches. :)

Yes I noticed the divine star bug too (Halo was bugged the same way) and the fix for it will be uploaded this weekend before the next tournament bracket. As for DRs I currently think it would be too much, since I don't think one should always stare on the unitframes, but on the actual match instead. Dispel (and Interrupt) CDs are something I want to get into ArenaLive, but I haven't found a satisfying way to do so yet. :)
