With the release of every expansion or season, including Mists of Pandaria, we've reset the Junkies User group and tweaked the access requirements to be in line with what actual player ratings were. A Junkie is either a grizzled veteran player that has achieved a Gladiator Title in the past or a player vying for a Gladiator Title in this current season. Throughout the seasons, the rating required for a Gladiator Title has varied a lot: some Battlegroups in season 2 had a cutoff as low as 2050, while seasons 8 and 9 saw cutoffs as high as 2700.

Based on current ladder rankings, we've decided to lower the Junkies rating requirement to 2200. This is intended to reflect current ratings players are achieving on the ladders, and to create a more reasonable expectation for players striving to become a Junkies.

This change should take effect over the next week, so please wait while the user groups update themselves!

Yea honestly no rating right now should really give access considering how the game is currently...

100% agree!!!

And if they do change it, 2300 should without a doubt be the lowest they will go!

2.3 + aswell as a little more moderation for the kfc neanderthals
What in gods name makes you think that rating has any bearing on whether someone is a neanderthal?  There are plenty of 2500 neanderthals as well bud

In my opinion it's the wrong time to change the Access actually since the current balance isn't the best. I'd rather make that change after Patch 5.1 hit, so that not every braindead hunter can troll, same goes for warriors.

For those wondering... I updated my character on AJ (forget how you get there exactly, go to profile --> wow --> settings or something, takes a minute to find it) which updates its armory, and thus your gear / ratings which, for me at least, updated me to junkie like instantly

There should be a decision about this in the coming days. If it does, it is likely to be at 2400.

For those wondering where 2200 came from, we base access on what Gladiator would be, minus 150 rating.

Last season on several BG's, 2400 and below was Gladiator. Currently, if the season ended tomorrow, 2400 and below would be Gladiator. We are currently estimating, before the team rating change in 5.1, that Gladiator will be 2350+ on most BG's.

Discussions are ongoing and things may well change again if 2200 does not turn out to be the sweet spot.

There should be respect given to a separate part of the game, despite the stigma that "RBG's don't matter" they take skill, awareness, and experience just like arena. And I would challenge any top arena players to form a group of RBG players and beat mine. Anyways, 2400+ sounds fine, as long as moderators don't let the RBG DDOS group gain membership. Huge trolls.

Please, the same fucking thing is going to happen that always happens. Something else is going to be fotm as a result of patch changes/gear usage, and everyone is going to call someone who gets high ratings by x comp or y class a fraudulent player.

I think the mentality of some of the "top tier" players here is shielded from reality by a pretty thick bubble, and they don't even realize it.  Some of these dramatic responses make the argument that lowering the rating requirement will  increase the number of trolling posts and reduce the overall quality of forum discussions...

First of all, where are these amazing forum threads you have been reading over the last 2+ years that are full of constructive, civil discussions? Because they sure as hell weren't in the Junkies section of AJ. Second, the idea that you have to be a 2400 rated player to write a useful post is idiotic.  You think that because you earned a Gladiator title there's no possible way you could improve your game by reading a post from some random 1800-rated kid who might have noticed something that you missed?

Right now, the vast majority of Junkie threads suck because they are written BY people who think they know everything about pvp TO people who think they, themselves, actually know everything about PvP. Some of those players actually do understand arena better than I ever will, but if the goal is insightful, helpful forum posts (as opposed to some PvP country club where the elite come to socialize with each other), then you need to encourage dialogue between players of differing levels of experience. Otherwise, you end up with what we have now: forums full of annoyed Gladiators who spend most of their time venting instead of sharing ideas or teaching because they can only converse with each other.

Conversations are really boring and unhelpful when everyone in the room has relatively the same level of expertise. Nobody wants to say anything, b/c nobody wants to feel like the douchebag who is going around telling people shit they already know...

Hxdes hit the nail on the head.  There is like one good solid discussion post every two weeks MAYBE, and almost every time the thread still gets derailed with massive trolling.  Bringing in lower rated players won't change that.

This elitist attitude that someone got rating playing a more powerful class/comp making them mongos and baddies is ridiculous.  Show me one junkie who hasn't played something powerful and I'll show you 100 current junkies who have.  It's how it's done.

Big shitstorm incoming on AJ :P

For those wondering why most Junkies are so critical about 2200 players joining the community:

the game looks a lot different when you play 2400 MMR ~ because each MMR section has its own problems.
What seems plain overpowered at 2,2k MMR might be outplayed easily by Gladiators or Rank 1 Players.

So the wider the spread gets from a Rank 1 player to the lowest "Junkie" those two cant even conversate about issues because its almost like they dont play the same game.

So as long as people dont think they are badass and know everything better, welcome to the community.

All the "Bosses" and "Skill0r1337H4XoRz" plz kill yourself :P
