Legion PvP Season 1 - Rewards Clarification

January 5 Blizzard Update on Titles

Official Blizzard Quote:

Each season, we reward titles to the players at the top of the 3v3 and RBG ladders based on the number of players we consider active in the bracket. For the last few seasons, we have only considered players active if they have a rating above 1000. For Legion Season 1, we made the mistake of also requiring players to have 50 wins to be considered. As a result, far fewer players were considered active than intended. Since rewards are a percentage of this set of people, we ended up giving out too few rewards, which in turn meant that many players received a lower-tier reward than they should have.

Fortunately, we have a plan in place that will allow us to fix the issue and grant rewards based on criteria we've used in previous seasons. Within the next few weeks, we will re-evaluate the ladder from Season 1 and redistribute rewards. When this occurs, you will either receive the same reward you have currently, or, in some cases, a higher-tier reward.

Hey all,

We wanted to clarify a couple of points surrounding the end of the recent PvP season.

First - players who were eligible for the “Vindictive Gladiator” title will not receive their title until after the holidays – there is currently an issue with the delivery of the title, and we will be looking at this over the coming weeks.

Second – we are currently looking into the number of titles that have been handed out to make sure they match our expectations. We will be reviewing our rewards process and this past season's data over the next few weeks. We expect to have more information for you in early January.

We’d like to apologize to the players impacted by this, as it was never our intention to disrupt the PvP community in such a way. We are looking towards addressing these issues sooner rather than later so future seasons can go on undisrupted.

Happy holidays!

Weeks? Really? Is it just me or is anyone else pissed off that blizzard doesn't really give enough of a fuck to fix this ASAP? It's bad enough that they did a terrible job in the first place but this just shows how little they respect their customers.

chill the fuck down. Do you honestly think they will get a team in while they are celebrating x-mas? It has nothing to do with respecting customers or what not. There is more then pixel titles you know.

Actually yes, that would be expected from a company that gave a shit about pvp.

I'm not really sure what you mean by that. I'd personally find it quite funny if they left the titles as they are. Blizzard is actually doing a great job - if you compare it to the fuckups in cata and mop.

But I still think the majority of the pvp community are nothing but beta cucks. If this was pve it would have been fixed 3 days ago.

It would have been fixed because pvp community is like 100 times smaller than pve community. And people who care about their titles are %0.5 of an already small community. Caring about pvpers and putting dev time on pvp literally doesnt make sense from a business perspective

Indeed, they should man up and finally delete such a waste of resources.

just wait for after Holidays and see wat they will do

i doubt they regive titles by resetting everything and do the calculations like they normally did before this season, like every season.

To be honest if they dont people will just quit. Look at the already dead rbg community. If only <10 ppl get HotH every season nobody will even bother with that bracket anymore. I know some ppl that really played their hearts out this season and should have gotten their first glad. But this is really demotivating. Making titles so rare will make them very prestigious for sure but that will demotivate new players to even get into pvp.

What pvp needs is a matchmaking system like every other game has. Casuals need an easy way to participate not the LFG shit.

They also need rewards. 2k for the elite set is already ~95th percentile. So 95% players wont even get that. And besides rival and challenger the elite set is the first real reward while climbing the ladder. Also no tabard and weapon enchants in legion.

The prestige system kinda flopped because getting honor in arena is just to inefficient. So most players that want the achievements / rewards just do WQ.

And even if you get 2k you have to wait until season 2 ends to be able to get full elite tier because after playing more than 800 matches in season 1 i still miss my pvp normal chest piece, and half of the elite set

Logged on just to ask this quick question:

What happened that Blizzard's numbers of titles given and Arenamate's calculations were so off? ppl @ 2700 getting duelist when arenamate said glad range was like 2450, I didn't get it at all

As far as i know blizz changed hes web site and ranking page so that broke all the calculation title system of other webs so they just can estimate the title cuttoffs and also this season has a new system for that because horde and allies has different cutoffs so that makes harder to estimate when you cant see a complete information

Also for no apparent reason they applied the 50 win + 1k cr+ rule to be active in the title pool instead of the 1k cr+ only rule.

this season they have apparently made the total pvp bracket only include people who actively pvp (achieving 50 wins over 12 weeks), rather then including everyone who dips their toe into 3v3 once or twice during the season (achieving 1000 rating over 12 weeks)

since pvp is so horrifically boring and bad this expansion + legion player activity in general is already back to end of wod player activity after just 4 months, the total number of people actively participating in pvp is really really low, so because of that the total number of titles available is also really really low - which means you have funny situations like 7 people on US servers getting HOTA because only 1,400 characters in the whole of US are atively participating in rbgs :)

No because the difference is when I play a comp i play it close to skill cap

if anyone needs to be banned, it's you. You do nothing but sit on AJ being a passive aggressive idiot that nobody likes, sorry you stink of washing up liquid.

Feel free to call me an idiot because I'm a hunter or some stupid ass remark but I've actually written all this down on paper

I actually made an appearance at DH2014 and I met up with people from twitch who were involved with the dota 2 / cs tournies that where there, I talked about the game from my perspective as a professional player and we actually shared a lot of opinions. All I'm saying is a lot of people will be VERY surprised about the future of this game in the esport world :)

I wonder though, I'd imagine this would only really matter for people trying to get gladiator and hero of the horde. But yeah for me personally if titles remain this hard to achieve, I'll rather do something else in a week when my sub expires. Legion was fun in its own way and I'm not upset or anything, I just don't think anyone can rationally justify spending this much time and effort for nothing.

Achieving something has always been a big part of what made an mmo fun for most people obviously.

Yeah the 50wins+ 1000 rating made all this problems... if they dont remove the 50wins and just go with the normal 1000rating as they did for the last 18 seasons rofl, then i guess no one will play pvp? as you Guys mentioned, why would u go do rbgs if only 7 ppl got hero... i've lost glad in s3 wod by 1 rating at 2810cr, as the highest duelist hah, and now i was hoping for a 3 x glad on 3 char... so if they dont fix this why would I play? what the point? trying so hard and not achiving anything, as you said, mmo is good to play because of the rewards it has. but yeah i think alot of ppl will quit if this goes without any changes or some unexpected explanation:)

Legion and no glad mount = less fun than finally having the time to play Planescape: Torment that I've bought a couple of months ago.
