#4637461 Games like Arena but not shit?

Posted by Zero82599 on 18 June 2018 - 05:49 AM in General Discussion

The first PvP season of Zeal will start with the pre-alpha playtesting in June and you'll be able to check your rankings in online ladder: https://zealrpg.com/ladder
Titles and other rewards will be bound to your Steam Account and won't be wiped when the testing ends
Check our discord to learn how to participate in testing: https://discord.gg/WH8xuh3

It's looking good TBH.   Too bad my house is too busy to stream really unless it's just a stream with music and no interaction which I don't think would get much people's interest otherwise I'd totally go for testing.  I hope it gets the exposure necessary and I hope it becomes a game that will be of interest to EU and NA on launch.  I'm also pretty impressed, as someone who gets motion sickness really easily, similarly to WoW, it doesn't give me motion sickness when in an arena setting, always something to focus on and look at and scan the screen, I give that by itself a BIG thumbs up.  It really helps people like me out soooooooo much.  A lot of games aren't even playable for me because I just get too sick, but this one I feel like I could dump hours in and not have a problem.  That's quality right there in itself.

#4637460 AT like server thats not warmane?

Posted by Zero82599 on 16 June 2018 - 09:58 PM in General Discussion

Hey, havent been around here for ages. Sad to see that this site is shutting down.

For some reason i felt like playing again, is there any ACTIVE wotlk arena servers around?

Saw that AT merged with warmane but seems like the server is pretty dead?

AT merged with Molten-WoW which made shit go downhill.

P.S. Good choice not playing legion.  Every time I log on I'm reminded on how I need to unsub.

As long as the arenas stay smaller I'd try it out.  I get motion sickness because I got shit luck in the genetic department so I can only do so much.

#4637239 The team isn't 100% sure why players are hesitant to engage in PvP combat

Posted by Zero82599 on 14 April 2018 - 04:24 PM in General Discussion

World PVP is busted if that's what you're referring to.

iLVL Oriented in instanced PVP, the ladder is usually the same people because they get paid to play, WoW isn't even worth the time without being paid when playing PVP now.  It's just a job.

Pop CDs win call it a day for the most part.

It's harder to outplay people because what exactly can u do other than tunnel this target after this happens~ the only way to outplay people is if they outplay themselves.

It's just a pain in the ass that isn't necessary.  PVE is much more stable.

#4637229 Solo queue?

Posted by Zero82599 on 07 April 2018 - 06:56 PM in General Discussion

TBH this wouldn't destroy anything.  Its just re-purposing.  You can't tell me that legion pvp has any sense of community outside of people who already have played together for a long time.  You post in LFG "2200 cr 45x Gladiator team LF healer"  Then you find some random guy, play games until you lose one or maybe two, he leaves, and then you go back to LFG to repeat.

^ This.

#4637172 BFA Afflic Lock

Posted by Zero82599 on 07 March 2018 - 04:19 AM in Warlock

Interesting. I honestly wouldn’t be opposed to as close as a recreation of wotlk rotations as possible. Ua stacking rotation is seriously annoying and I also could live without the whole rotation of every spec cycle around fucking soul shards.

It honestly feels like so much of a different game than what it used to be, which of course is a good thing in terms of expansions, it'll get bland, and it's been around 8 years since it's been in that respect, which could be beneficial or detrimental in ways... I really hope that they keep it this way for maybe the start of it and add onto it and build so it can be unique from that xpac but still have that same taste of nostalgia from what I think of as the glory days of WoW.

#4637169 BFA Afflic Lock

Posted by Zero82599 on 06 March 2018 - 07:26 PM in Warlock

Jw how exactly does it feel like wotlk aff?  I would love it to feel this way honestly.

Here's my spec http://bfa.wowhead.c...affliction/cyAM

Shadow embrace + Nightfall was a HUGE nostalgia ripple for me.  Little things like that just made me so happy, like so so so happy.
At some point in WotLK you could stack S.E. with Haunt (they ended up changing that I'm pretty sure later in the expac) so it emulates that feel.
Nightfall makes it instant cast so obviously it is better than Haunt in most instances, and its proc rate seems very similar to that of WotLK
(This may become a lesser spec depending on what talent is shown in Nightfall's tier for the 3rd option, hopefully it doesn't take away from it's magnificence *fingers crossed*)

Creeping death also helps to bring together the WotLK feel, I felt like in earlier expansions you didn't have to worry so much about the rotation of dots, they would just be up for a long time, but in WotLK I felt like I had to constantly keep watch on them to ensure they were on each target, it really kept me on my toes.

Drain Life replaced Drain Soul in BFA and often times in arena when I wasn't spamming DoTs, dodging kicks, kicking, kiting, I was spamming Drain Life as a filler.  (Drain Mana would've been nice too, but with how the game is right now spell count, other class' spells, etc. I'm happy with Drain Life, I don't want it to be unfair)

Also, it does hurt that Demonic Circle is NOT baseline, so it does depend on your current composition on talent choices and what your opponent is running.  I would take it depending on if it was a double caster or double melee or hybrid.

The game also seems to be running a lot smoother in terms of feel of key presses, cast times, and etc. it may just be the low population on the alpha as of now, but it feels similar to WotLK's travel times (instant cast timing), though traveling casts such as Haunt seem quicker paced which is definitely a good thing imo.

So far, that's all I have noted.

Anyone else have Alpha access?  Does BFA Lock feel kind of like WotLK style to you as well?(Obviously easier but it gives me a WotLK Feel)

LF team on my spri, fdk, ret, maybe some other toons for 3v3.  Low cr since I haven't really PVP'd.  Reply to this post and we can make things happen.

***I'm not concerned with your prior experience in arena at all, we all had to start from somewhere***

(Also if you want to run with my warlock on ally side that'd be dope <3)

#4637065 Question about Classes

Posted by Zero82599 on 20 January 2018 - 08:07 PM in General Questions

Hey Guys,

i played whole Legion on Horde and want to use my spare time to get used to another class - on alliance side (some friends play there).

In the past i enjoyed playing arms warrior in pve and pvp a lot.

I would appreciate your insight to my new alliance char, i want to switch from arms warrior to one of the following:

- feral druid (nightelf, heard worgen suck)

- retri pala (human)

- hunter (nightelf or human, not sure yet)

Can you recommend any of them for 2v2 and 3v3 (currently no designated group composition) - and BGs. Maybe something is currently not viable in Arena.

I already tried WW Monk (stopped playing, doesnt fit into the Lore - in my opinion) and frost DK (felt too dull with 3 buttons and immobile as fuck).

Rets vs Ferals :  Rets and ferals obviously are powerhouses in damage.  They both take a lot of damage though, since they are both hybrid classes/specs.  Rets have lower mobility, you have to freedom+divine steed to get from point A to B in a satisfactory time.  Ferals, they can shift and wild charge, dash, etc. i.e high mobility.

Hunters vs Ferals vs Rets : Hunters have decent mobility, obviously will be able to hit things more often than a ret can in certain situations.  Like every ranged class, you will always be near a pillar, so it does help tremendously in taking less damage overall if need be.  Ferals and hunters have similar playstyles in ways that they can keep an enemy in a spot for a long time, rets really don't have that capability on their own.

BGs, Arenas:
Ferals are really good in 2v2, like really fucking good.  Bleeds make life easier.
Hunters really good in 2v2 as well, but dampening might be more of a necessity than on say: a feral
Rets are really good in 2v2 as well, they have good utility and damage output.
You can also do double dps on all 3 and have a good outcome.

3v3, Rets will be stressful to play: Lots of things u wont be able to touch but when you do touch them, oof the damage (As stated earlier you also take a lot of damage, time playing offensive and defensive well)
Ferals, bleeds bleeds bleeds you can be offensive and defensive almost simultaneously by having bleeds to rot on people whilst using your mobility to counter cooldowns
Hunters rely more on synergy than either ret or ferals, they offer a large role in enemy management, i.e CC and slows, alignment of CC is necessary for hunters to be at peak performance

Ferals weren't that great in BGs to my knowledge since they are more single target than anything, they have high mobility and can kill flag carriers rather well (stealth past and blast), flag maps you are probably gonna be sitting a base
Rets do well on maps like Kotmogu, they have a CC removal for healers, flag carriers, etc. also are good base sitters
Hunters do really good in BGs to my knowledge, you may also have to base sit lol

This is just a general thing, by no means am I an expert at those classes, I'm just giving my personal experiences without going too much in depth.  I used to main a feral and a hunter but I was never really that big on playing ret.  Hope this helps in some way.

#4637064 Taken years off is it worth coming back

Posted by Zero82599 on 20 January 2018 - 07:46 PM in General Questions

I quit wow after season 8 wotlk but i have still been following the game and watching blizzcons etc etc. Is the game in a balanced state these days? I feel like the peak of the game was late wotlk and i loved watching players like marm and homerjay on arena tourney when it felt like every class had a comp that could be played at a competitive level. Just curious if ita worth coming back to a game i played years ago.

Horrid state.  Horrid.

#4637026 Some reading material on WoW arena

Posted by Zero82599 on 12 January 2018 - 07:20 PM in General Discussion

Good post overall and it's a shame it's on a dead forum. A few things I would like to add that made the game lose prestige in my eyes:

Complete disregard for old players

I've spent thousands of euros/dollars on this game. I had nearly 600 played days by the end of BC. I gave my life to this game.

At this point in time, any random teenager can obtain 99% of the things I got in my bank within a few days. My PvE warrior (the original one) has 6 t3s, many other unobtainable items from nax (Ramaladni's icy grasp, plague bearer and so on). Now you pay some gold in the auction house and it's yours. Why? No amount of gold is worth all that time I invested to obtain these items. My guild killed Kael 10 days after nihilum (thats like top 10) and I got ashes on that kill. I was being spam whispered to sell it and I said no, cause I loved my character.  My warrior was a tiny bit of my soul transferred into the game. Now an alt with 6 hours played total can go in TK kill kael like it's a lvl 10 mob and get it. Why?

THE ONLY thing they ever did that catered to some players was the veteran of the shifting sands achievement. I missed hitting the gong and the event due to school, with all the scepter pieces assembled. I was crying in the bathroom because of that. FUcK lost crew FUCK cubensis. After so many years at least they gave me an achievement. That's somethin.

I was someone important because I put a lot of effort and time in this game. I practically sacrificed my youth to get epics. I will always remember what my old guildmaster in vanilla told me "Doesn't matter what gear you have, what matters is when you have it". Yeah the when stopped mattering.

Gameplay changes

The next big thing, if not the biggest, is the gradual homogenization/ability pruning that has befallen the game. When I said I put a small part of my soul into my character I meant it. Every warrior spec took time to master. My action bars were full of abilities and macros. Playing was demanding but rewarding. Now everyone presses the same buttons, and the soul of each class has been lost. I believe this is the reason blizzard is bleeding subscribers more than anything else. You don't pve 100% of the time and you don't pvp 100% of the time. You play your character 100% of the time and if that's not enjoyable then nothing is.

The community

This game was played by hardcore nerds. I would sleep in net cafes, forget to bathe, ignore my friends. But I had friends in game. Lots of them. Tons of them. Everyone knew everyone. We did shit together, we spoke on ventrillo, we had tons of FUN. Now I q up a dungeon, raid w/e no one speaks. No one is interested in anything, this place is like a huge tinder where you constantly swap partners.

That's all I think I got for now

I relate to this 100%

#4637025 Never thought i would miss wod gameplay

Posted by Zero82599 on 12 January 2018 - 07:05 PM in General Discussion

PvP all things considered (enjoyability, activity, gameplay, fun etc.)

PvE in terms of epicness mostly (PvE is not gauged by difficulty but by story depth - although I would argue that after raiding everything until MoP, SSC/TK were the hardest by far. Up to date I cannot recall a fight where I wiped more than Kael, followed by Vashj)

TBC tier 5 (SSC/TK)/TBC heroics>Vanilla AQ/Naxx>Vanilla dungeons preraids (Scholo 10man)>Wotlk Ulduar era>Legion>MoP>>Wod>>>Cata

Dunno legion PvP seems a bit stale and class gameplay is very cut and dry but overall the game offers things to do. Storyline's pretty good, quests don't feel as grindy, raids are well designed (but easy), mythic is cool.

Wow you really didn't like Cata lol

#4637010 Never thought i would miss wod gameplay

Posted by Zero82599 on 10 January 2018 - 11:27 PM in General Discussion

im assuming a well established player like yourself with r1 titles from 5+ years ago would have plenty of partners by now no?

The last sliver of my friends quit after WoD, not to imply that I miss WoD simply due to them though.  I could find new partners, but people don't like to comply with a different method of play style(for example an analytical approach in game play rather than a let's just hit things) and they react rather mercurially to it in Legion.  This is why I did legion s1 and s2 with regular rather than pushing r1, it just tired me out going through countless people with the same results except for a small few whom had to unfortunately quit due to their job circumstances.
