#4637242 ArenaJunkies Shutting Down on July 1st 2018

Posted by Vanguards on 17 April 2018 - 02:40 AM in News

ArenaJunkies Shutting Down on July 1st 2018

Today we'll be announcing the closure of ArenaJunkies on July 1st. This was a hard decision to make, and we would like to sincerely thank you all the users who have supported us over the years.

I'll always remember using ArenaJunkies since way back in Wrath of the Lich King, where many of us had our competitive banters over our rating and gameplay. AJ was a fun place where I found a lot of useful information when I was new to arenas, and the spice from the battlegroup forums really added to the competitiveness nature of PvP.

It was fun being a user, moderator, and admin of this site. Thank you all for your support!

The Story
Some of the underdogs at the Spring Finals are finding form at just the right time. With the Sneakier Snakes taking North America Cup #3 to sneak into the Spring Finals they will be looking to catch fire at just the right time. Running one of the most dangerous Jungle Cleaves in the world, the pressure from Sneakier Snakes has looked better and better each week. The European region has its own underdog too with Ascendant coming in as a #3 seed. Don’t be fooled by that seeding for Ascendant though; in EU Cup #3 Ascendant lost to two of the top teams in the world: Skill Capped Black and XRB; the top two seeds in Europe.

With a lethal RMP, Ascendant will be looking to match up with North America’s more direct compositions, especially if they can push the games later and get further into dampening. Sneakier Snakes should be showing a different angle, with their aggressive Jungle Cleave looking to push early and notch quick wins. The stylistic matchups will be in the spotlight on the big stage at the Spring Finals with the top North American teams, including Method Orange, playing a very aggressive fast style. On the other side, Europe has the behemoth Skill Capped Black playing an extremely smooth RMP right now with some very quick set ups. If both Sneakier Snakes and Ascendant can keep their red-hot play going into the Spring Finals anything is possible for them, even with tough matchups in round 1.

The World of Warcraft Arena World Championship Spring Finals kick off March 31st featuring the best from North America and Europe. *

#4637195 Five Reasons Why Europe are Spring Finals Favorites

Posted by Vanguards on 25 March 2018 - 10:56 PM in News

Five Reasons Why Europe are Spring Finals Favorites

Official Blizzard Quote:

The Arena World Championship Spring Finals are only one week away, and Europe is looking to defend their title as the best region in the arena once again.

We talked to teams, casters, and analysts to bring you five reasons why Europe has a great chance at claiming victory in Columbus, Ohio on March 31.

1) SHARED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

With the split of Method: Triforce this year, members of this record-breaking two-time World Champion roster have passed their knowledge of success on to other top European teams. René “Swapxy” Pinkera, now playing for #1 seed Skill Capped Black, is a prime example of this. Teammate Shaun Andreas “Raiku” Meaney told us, “Swapxy is really valuable. We can see the game from a different point of view and the team atmosphere is more serious.”

2017 Triforce MVP Maroš “Blizo” Molčan has also been doing wonders for his new roster, XRB to the Moon. Magnus “Wallirik” Clausen and Emil “Zeepeye” Ek were already expected to become BlizzCon regulars by many arena fans due to their formidable Warlock/Elemental Shaman gameplay. With the addition of Blizo, the team now makes its first trip to the USA with hopes of bringing home a title for Europe.

2) PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD

Europe’s #1 seed this season has an absolutely mammoth roster. As mentioned above, Skill Capped Black—comprised of the core Rogue/Mage duo of Oscar “Whaazz” Wulff and Raiku—picked up Swapxy this year, as well as healer Josef “Chas” Stoianov. The team looks almost untouchable, with Wallirik describing them as “the best Rogue/Mage roster for many years.”

After the team won their second consecutive qualifier to end in the top spot, Raiku expressed his joy via Twitter: "GG BOYS! 440 points completely insane how the first season went for us, this was our goal when we made our roster and so far we are living up to expectations if not even exceeding them! GGs to everyone and thanks to my team" @Jsfchas @NRG_Whaazz @_Swapxy

RAIKU

3) HISTORY DOESN’T LIE

It’s no secret that Europe has been dominating the arena for many years. Not only has the continent secured wins at the last four World Championships at BlizzCon, but of the eight teams that fought in the previous four finals, six of them were European. The Hall of Fame lives and breathes Europe, and with this year’s team rosters looking stronger than ever, there’s no reason why that should change.

4) PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

"Europe will win because ladder activity breeds improvement of players, and Europe plays much more."

WALLIRIK

European teams are known for having a phenomenal work ethic when it comes to practice—a point echoed by European and North American players alike. When asked why Europe are favorites, Wallirik stated, “Europe will win because ladder activity breeds improvement of players, and Europe plays much more.”

5) SPECIALIZATION

Between the four teams heading to the Spring Finals, Europe has a broad portfolio of compositions. However, each team specializes in only a few. Skill Capped Black and Ascendant have been running Rogue/Mage/Priest variants predominantly, with Swapxy coming in for Skill Capped to provide some cleave options. Meanwhile, XRB to the Moon has been running Warlock compositions with Wallirik, and a devastating Windwalker Monk/Death Knight/Shaman utilizing Blizo and Zeepeye’s multiclassing prowess. To round out Europe’s representatives, Reformed reverse swept 85%—whose roster included Simon “Boetar” Heinks and Fabio “Fabss” Nardelli—to secure qualification with their jungle cleave comp (Feral Druid/MM Hunter/Disc Priest).

Between these four teams, Europe is equipped to handle any tournament metagame.

So there you have it—five reasons why Europe are favorites to win the Spring Finals! Join us March 31 from 19:00 CET to see if Europe’s teams can maintain their dominance of the arena and bring home a 5th BlizzCon spot for the year.

World of Warcraft Esports: 2018 Plans Revealed

Official Blizzard Quote:

Lastyear was huge for WoW esports, with the introduction of the Mythic Dungeon Invitational (MDI), the WoW Arena Championship tournament matches throughout the year, and a tense and exciting championship match at BlizzCon. We’re proud of all we have achieved, but we won’t rest on our laurels: we are hard at work gearing up for 2018—with more teams, more talent, and more epic battles that will have us all on the edge of our seats.

THE 2018 WOW ARENA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (AWC)

The biggest event in WoW esports will be supported by a full calendar of tournaments around the world, ensuring only the most battle-tested and proven teams have a shot at the 2018 WoW Arena World Championship. At the championship tournament itself, teams will be fighting for their share of a $280,000 prize pool and WoW Arena glory.

We'll be back later in the year to discuss how teams from China, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific make their way to the 2018 Arena World Championship.

INTRODUCING SEASONAL FINALS FOR NORTH AMERICA AND EUROPE

*drum roll* We are delighted to announce TWO seasonal finals where the best North American and European Teams will clash for the first time ever outside of the World Championship. The first season finals will be decided in March at a live event.

- Each event will feature eight teams: The top four teams from Europe and the top four teams from North America.

- Both events in 2018 will offer $100,000 prize pools—that’s two opportunities for players in Europe and North America to land a share of $100k before the World Championship is even on the horizon.

- The eight teams will also be competing for a spot in the WoW Arena World Championship, rewarded to the winners at each of the two events.

#4636799 World of Warcraft Arena: World Champions Crowned at BlizzCon 2017!

Posted by Vanguards on 21 November 2017 - 01:20 AM in News

World of Warcraft Arena: World Champions Crowned at BlizzCon 2017!

Official Blizzard Quote:

HOW CHAMPIONS ARE MADE

In the opening week, ten teams descended on Anaheim in the run-up to the finals, with two teams eliminated on day one.

Panda Global took down Rockets Eclipse with relative ease, to be met by defending world champions Method: Triforce. Panda Global were on fire, with the fever-pitch energy of the crowd fanning the flames. They beat the champions 3-1 in the semi-final to win their place in the final.

EU VS NA

Across the bracket, the top-seeded North America team—Method Synergy—faced Europe’s second seeded team, ABC. ABC’s tried and tested formula of Alec on Mage and Niksi on Rogue, seen the previous year, worked like a charm taking down NA’s #1 team 3-2.

ABC EASY AS 123…4

The finals in 2017 were once again NA vs EU. The comeback kids on Panda Global looked a little shaky and struggled to hold form, testing the limits of their passionate fans’ patience and creating a tense, exciting atmosphere throughout the arena. Sensing victory, ABC took full control; beating Panda Global in a nail-biting set of games 4-0—earning them their rightful place in World of Warcraft Arena history.
