View Full Version : [3v3] Resto druid vs Holy/Disc priest for 3v3
After breaking 2k a few weeks ago, our 3s team re-rolled this past week with the following core makeup:
frost mage
holy pally
myself (warrior)
UA warlock (soon to be SL)
Right now we're sitting at 2006 for 3v3 (armory not updated yet).
We will be adding a very good mutilate rogue soon but have a spot open. Which class would bring more to the table? A resto druid or a holy/disc priest. Our planned makeups are
war, mage, pally
war, mage, druid/priest
rogue, mage, druid/priest
rogue, warlock, druid/priest
mage, warlock, druid/priest
and possibly war, pally, druid/priest

If you go with Druid -
Rogue, Warlock, Druid (strong)
Warrior, Warlock, Druid (medium depends on players)
With Priest -
Rogue, Mage, Priest (strong)
Mage, Warlock, Priest (never tried but I have seen work)
With Pally -
Warrior, Warlock, Pally (strong)
Warrior, Mage, Pally (worked well in season 1)
Those are the most common I have seen, if you use a Priest from my POV I would avoid a warrior with priest set up, I haven't had much luck with warriors.
As Mage, Rogue, Priest we have been 2300+ for several weeks now and it works well.
An awesome set up that I have seen played well is the Rogue, Lock, Druid its very strong. Also if the players are good you can pull off Warrior, Druid, Lock pretty easy.
Also, on balanced 3v3 teams like Rogue, Mage, Priest mutilate spec takes a back seat to combat. Mutilate works better on a 3 dps team possibly - Rogue, SPriest, Lock. But I have never played a Gib 3v3 team so I have no idea tbh.
We use a holy priest for rogue/UAlock/priest and we're about 30th in Reckoning EU (>2200 rating).
Although druid is a very strong class and works much better with warriors than priest does. So if you want to build your team to include you in most of the games, go for the druid imo.

It's a toss up. Mage/Priest/Rogue is a generic team that will always do well. Druid/Sl/Sl Lock/Mut Rogue is probably the strongest team right now.

I'd go with resto druid.
Druid/mage/lock is a very strong team with few weaknesses.
Mage/druid/rogue or mage/druid/lock are also very strong.
Unless the druid is very good though I'd say you're generally better off with a priest. The druid teams require very good CC rotation to be successful (at least from my experience).
